((READ WHEN YOU GET TO THE ABUSE CYCLE PART)) My Portrayal of Skk Cause I Know Hoes R Mad💀: #1: while part of the reason I fell in love with them is their bickering, I didn't wanna do too much of that in this video. And I genuinely think post-canon (assuming 101 isn't the end of Chuuya lol) they could develop a more meaningful relationship that goes deeper than constantly fighting and has them caring for each other's needs, emotional and otherwise and recognising how to deal with each other's emotions. Otherwise, I gen think they wouldn't be good together. I'm not saying there isn't some toxicity coming from where and how they met exactly, I'm just saying with how many years have passed they could possibly grow out of it. Dead Apple also sort of cemented the fact that their relationship is different now for me. Past Chuuya would have risked his life for Dazai, sure, but I feel as though it was more out of obligation than anything. But DA! Chuuya /knew/ saving Dazai may not be worth it to the Port Mafia because he could have died and cost the PM a valuable weapon (his ability lolz) but still had faith in Dazai and his fucked up mind and jumped after him anyway. That isn't to say healthy relationships don't include playful bickering BTW, I just wanted to keep it at a minimum. #2: Chuuya's emotional intelligence. I like to think skk know each other well enough to gauge each other's emotional stability and what they need in the moment. Whether or not they act on it is a different matter (#3). I think Chuuya cares for Dazai a LOT and is willing to reach out to him even when he asks him not to because of his yk… (slewerslidal tendencies) while he's more reserved when talking to Dazai about HIS own issues. Not to say they haven't discussed Chuuya (cause that'd be selfish), I just think Chuuya is the more emotionally mature of the two and knows how to breach these topics😙 #3: Why I didn't show Dazai comforting Chuuya. While I believe Dazai is not oblivious (the opposite in fact except when it comes to his own emotions) and he can definitely pick up on Chuuya's mood swings from observing him a lot previously (u don't think abt some1 for 7 years and not know their tells💀) I believe he doesn't feel he is equipped enough to handle such a task nor does he think he has the right. I'm not opposed to the idea of Chuuya seeking comfort from him, I just think Dazai finds it hard to reach out despite the fact that he wouldn't turn Chuuya away if he approached him. If this makes Dazai look 'selfish', idc because he isn't doing it out of some belief that Chuuya is below him or that Chuuya doesn't deserve his comfort, he's doing it because he doesn't believe he can adequately provide such comfort. #4: Dazai's guilt. I know many people have conflicting views on the abuse cycle in BSD and how each member feels and/or their guilt. I'm not here to invalidate your views or opinions, just to give mine. I don't think Dazai feels guilt for what he did to Aku. I'd even go as far as to say he feels a sense of… misplaced pride(?) He's not like /glad/ he abused him, though I don't think anyone in the PM views it as abuse, I just think that he's proud that he honed Aku into the powerful weapon he is today, you know? I'll expand more on the whole "the PM doesn't think it's abuse" thing l8r. More on Dazai though. Again, I don't think he feels guilty for a lot of things he did in the mafia (maybe I can expand on that one day lol) and especially not how he trained his subordinate. His job was to train Aku in a way that made him an efficient PM member while also giving Aku the skills to survive there and he did, despite his iffy methods. The only thing he could possibly feel guilty about is being like Mori which to him equates to letting Oda down. Because if according to the others, you can't redeem yourself from something like that and you're forever a bad person, then he will never accomplish Oda's dying wish (which I think many ppl misunderstand BTW and also Dazai too (but that part's on my personal hc not actual canon evidence lolol)). #5: Chuuya's defense of Dazai. Oh boy, the most controversial one LOL. I gen think nobody in the mafia saw anything wrong with how Dazai treated Aku. In fact, I feel as though most high-ranking ability users got this ruthless sort of training. (Kouyou and Aku's actions towards Kyouka as well as Dazai's training of Aku and Mori just being a weirdo). Because these ppl were the most powerful tools of the PM, they had to have the sort of attitude and skill that made them efficient weapons. The time we see Dazai berating Aku, it is both to hone his abilities more and to ensure he doesn't go guns blazing again which are two things some1 as strong as Aku needs to be aware of. At the end of the day, the PM is a breeding ground for abuse and a lot of them are misguided kids. The misunderstanding of Dazai and Aku's dynamic will forever irk me. Yes, there was abuse, but nobody thinks to factor in many other things. They act like they are an exact recreation of Mori and Dazai when they are NOT, OH MY GOD!! Back on track, Chuuya gen doesn't seem like someone who will find much wrong with Dazai's methods, in fact he's probably desensitised to it. Keep in mind he's been in the mafia since he was 15 meaning as he grew up, he grew up subconsciously learning to rationalise such violence no matter how unfair. And if you think this mass murderer who has most likely offed children and prolly has a crime count higher than Dazai's by now (factoring in the mass deaths corruption has most likely caused as well as the four years he was doing missions while Dazai was away) would care about Dazai getting violent with a child, I need you to think again. Because that is such a disservice to the complexities of his character and also a blatant lie against his morality/moral compass which is fucked BTW. I just have a lot of opinions and feelings and you don't have to agree, but keep these in kind as you watch💀
