There is another video of he exact same thing but it does have English subtitles. Believe me, knowing the lyrics really opens up a level of further understanding of the emotion behind this song! Dimash is from Kazakistan and is 23 years old and has a range of F2-D8! He began vocal training at age 3 by his parents. I believe they are either professional singers and/or are both voice teachers. This was the first day of this music singing competition and they put him first, because no one knew who he was in China. He slayed it! I'm classically trained in voice plus I play 9 instruments. Hi Jerod yeah its a competition "Singer" in china with massive viewing figures. All the performers are either professional or well known singers, Dimash was invited as the wildcard because of his success in his home country Kazakhstan, he was the youngest competitor and totally unknown to them. He didn't speak Chinese or French but he learned the song in French, apparently its from one of the most successful French musicals. During the competition he sang in 5 or 6 different languages although he only spoke Kazakh and Russian at the time. his pronunciation of English was a bit off but as you say you don't need to understand what is being said to appreciate the music. He was invited back to singer 2018 as a special guest in their Gala show Ep14 and sang Lionel Ritchies "Hello" and you can see his English as improved no end. Excellent reaction bud hope you follow his journey through singer 2017 and react for us ... btw he came 2nd !!!! 👍👍👍😊

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. Welcome to Dimash world. He's on his own league. I can tell you have knowledge in music in general which makes the reaction more interesting. I enjoyed it Dimash can do so much. Plays instruments sings with different languages, classically trained since he was 8 or so. Parents are professional singers His range is 6 octaves yes 6 obviously the highest isn't true singing but just hitting the notes. If you want some of the vocal acrobatics I'd suggest Opera 2 Diva dance bastau concert If you wanna hear the queens song: show must go on taken to another level. Then react to it

Thank you for a great reaction. Please do episode 2 from Singer 2017 - Opera 2 is the song name. This was the first time that the Chinese audience as well as the other contestants heard him sing. He is not from China and not knowing who he was, they selected for him to sing first and was not expecting to make it far. He was 22 at the time, the youngest contestant to ever be on the show and he actually won this first episode. You said his name correctly. Dimash is amazing and Thanks again.

Diana D The woman who got first place was already very popular in China. If you take into account that Dimash is from Kazakistan and couldn't speak Chinese and was completely unknown to the Chinese audience a 2nd place was quite remarkable. By the way, this performance was his first time on the show, he was the first one to perform, so the reactions from audience and the other contestants are of pure surprise.
It also appears the outcome was a bit political. Jesse J won this year and if I am not mistaken, she is the first non-Chinese artist to win. I can’t help but feel that Dimash paved the way to make that possible...broke down some barriers. ❤️❤️
Just want the Best voice, good clarification since Jerod isn’t familiar with the competition. The members of the audience are the judges. It is the same 500 audience members for each episode and it appears it could be the same members from year to year as well (based on seeing many familiar faces this year). The competitors also vote but I don’t know if their votes are taken into account for the overall outcome. Singers are ranked by the judges for each episode. Then their overall percentage of votes throughout the entire competition decides their placement at the shows completion.

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode].
This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

I heard him call it neo - classical in the interview. He said he had to rearrang this song to make it more classic than it was originally.
He deserves every bit of that seeming arrogance. But he's not really arrogant, he's humble and loving and wonderful.He will never disappoint you. I fully believe him to be the most talented/trained singer---the BEST singer---on the face of the earth. Those last 3 words are "Sleep, baby, sleep." By the way, great reaction.

Dimash can do so much. Plays instruments sings with different languages, classically trained since he was 8 or so. Parents are professional singers
His range is 6 octaves yes 6 obviously the highest isn't true singing but just hitting the notes.

Thank you for a great reaction. Please do episode 2 from Singer 2017 - Opera 2 is the song name. This was the first time that the Chinese audience as well as the other contestants heard him sing. He is not from China and not knowing who he was, they selected for him to sing first and was not expecting to make it far. He was 22 at the time, the youngest contestant to ever be on the show and he actually won this first episode. You said his name correctly. Dimash is amazing and Thanks again.

Diana D The woman who got first place was already very popular in China. If you take into account that Dimash is from Kazakistan and couldn't speak Chinese and was completely unknown to the Chinese audience a 2nd place was quite remarkable. By the way, this performance was his first time on the show, he was the first one to perform, so the reactions from audience and the other contestants are of pure surprise.
It also appears the outcome was a bit political. Jesse J won this year and if I am not mistaken, she is the first non-Chinese artist to win. I can’t help but feel that Dimash paved the way to make that possible...broke down some barriers. ❤️❤️
Just want the Best voice, good clarification since Jerod isn’t familiar with the competition. The members of the audience are the judges. It is the same 500 audience members for each episode and it appears it could be the same members from year to year as well (based on seeing many familiar faces this year). The competitors also vote but I don’t know if their votes are taken into account for the overall outcome. Singers are ranked by the judges for each episode. Then their overall percentage of votes throughout the entire competition decides their placement at the shows completion.
