Great video, helped me change mine. Although I struggled to get the Alternator out but I used the bolt through the socket trick whilst it was on the car to draw out the nut/spacers and then the alternator broke lose 👌. But if a tip for anyone who has the same issue.
You can do this without removing the manifold, just did it today. Bit of a fight to get the alternator out but it can be done. You also don't need to renew the tensioner.
@@HaynesManuals If thats the case why would you not renew every pulley on the system? I have to say though, Haynes manuals has always held a lot of resepct in this household, long may you continue :)
Just what I think! To remove the manifold seems overly complicated. In my case the worn out belt and the alternator-brushes needed replacement, so I only rotated the alternator to get better acces to the rear to remove the regulator with the brushes and the wheel didn't needed to be removed either. Unless the tensioner bearing is worn out there seems little reason to replace it.
Hi, I want to ask what's the name of the orange rubber for the cylinder? I'm trying to find it because like in the video needed a new one when you replace the alternator. Thanks
It's a long process but they should get that done within an hour. A rookie, maybe 2. I've got mine in for new alternator and now a new battery. Any ideas on how much both will cost?
Hi Folks, I’m struggling with the bolts on the tensioner as I can’t get a socket on it. Is the hex nut a 20mm? Can’t get the torx bolt to move either. Any advice appreciated. Cheers Paul
My father owns the pre-facelift model,2006 model year.We have a problem with the voltage regulator(unstable voltage and I think when you use turn signals, the small screen, the one which includes the trip computer, flashes a little aswell). Can we replace the regulator without removing the alternator?I mean,is it possible or not?The engine is 1.4 16v(K4J780).Thank you!
Although in theory it may be possible to replace the regulator without removing the alternator, access is extremely limited. It is a lengthy task to remove the alternator, but I think it would be preferable to the frustration of trying to replace the regulator in such a confined space.
If you can jack up the car and put it on stands I found it much easier and less work to loosen the front bumper bolts underneath the car. You can then loosen the bumper and move it out of the way. Much more room to remove the alternator from underneath that way.

Thanks for the tip! You don't have to renew the tensioner when renewing the belt, but it's considered 'good practice'

Thanks for the great guide. Swapped the alternator and managed to squeeze it out without removing the manifold. Cheers Paul

Do i really need to get new intake manifold seals for this?
I would have thought you would be ok cleaning the surfaces and using some re-sealer paste or smth
probably not, you dont need to take it off though. I managed without doing that. You also dont need a new tensioner

Hi which is go first tensioner or the belt? Thanks
Put the tensioner on loose then put the belt on and then tighten the tensioner

Hex nut is definitely 20 mm
Whats that tool you used for bracket sleeve?
I think it's a 20 mm socket, and a M8 bolt with a washer
any idea why the battery light comes on after changing the alternator?
If the warning light is on after an alternator change, there must be fault with the connections or the alternator itself.
