  • The ancient art of falconry has been practiced for thousands of years across the Arabian Peninsula as a vital form of hunting. Today, it's one of the region's most revered traditional sports.
Take a glimpse inside a falconry school where students and birds of prey take lessons from each other.

There are a bunch of different methods used and they vary in different parts of the world. The idea behind that method is conditioning the bird to realise it has no control over what's happening and it needs to get over it/conditioning the bird not to react to stimuli. As far as I know that method is an older method used mostly in that area. I am in the process of doing my research to get my apprentice license, hoping to get a red tail when the season allows this year. The process is called manning if you would like to do further research

@@TheDukeValefar thank you. Still thinking about getting a falcon.as it's more of a life style than a hobby.dont want to bite off.more than I can chew as it's a live creatures welfare.thats at stake.retired now so got all the time I need. Just weary about my commitment. So would appreciate as much info as.possible.thank you again

@@SuperVeshi your welcome. I'd recommend finding a falconer in your area and asking to go out with them. Not sure where your from but most states and provinces in Canada and the US have falconry clubs. They are a good place to meet people. The modern apprentice is a good website for information. Also alot of clubs will put out a recommended reading list. Where im at your required to read at least 3 modern books on falconry and complete a test before you can become an apprentice.
Another thing to think about. Where im from they recommend 1st catching a wild red tailed hawk or 2nd getting a captive bred untrained Harris hawk. If you get the RT and decide that this isn't something you want to continue you can legally release the bird back to the wild (with rules on how, when and where.) If you go the route of an HH you cannot release it. In fact if it escapes your required to do everything you can to either capture it or kill it.

It calm them down when they transport them. Without stressing him out under the hood it actually does calm them and they don't get so stressed out
