After buying the S4 9 almost 9 years ago I have been dreaming of this moment and I am so decommissioning the old unit for this brand new beast of an S4!!! :)

My question being a electrical engineer. I have had to fix so many of the older models. I hope when you put the new volume and cross faders you used a better more high quality ones. The old ones only had two set of rakes that slide on the board. But any other mixer uses four rakes. So I hope you upgraded those cause if not they will constantly fail.
Not that I have a problem with it cause more work for me but I feel bad for my dj friends that can't get help from you guys and always call me to fix them or upgrade them myself so they don't have issues while out spinning.

@@Kwipper bought mine when it came out. Still feels like new. The mk1s I had both started glitching slightly, this one feels rock solid.
Does the S4 mk3 work with the iPad Pro and iOS based traktor ? We are waiting to purchase until we confirm this feature.
Was just wondering why you assigned the phono pre to channels A and B when your decks will lie on the left and right of channels C and D? (the S4 jog wheels) surely it would have been better to use C and D and keep everything in a line

First of all, this is awesome and I´m really excitted to get one! But I also want to use it as an audio interface for my DAW (ex: Cubase 13). Regarding this type of use, I do have a couple questions: 1) Can I have 2 different pairs of speakers "speaking" at the same time, or do I have to choose A/B monitoring? - 2) If so, should I use both Main outputs (RCA and XLR), or it should be one pair of speakers on Main output and the second pair on the Booth output?
Great controller! As a long time Traktor user i would have bought it immediately if it were a full size version like the Pioneer DDJ- RZ/SZ.
And off-course i want to pay double the price too. Call it the traktor Kontrol SX. A Pioneer DDJ-Z sized controller but not with their huge jog-wheels. No, the S4 jog-wheel-size is fine. The Denon MCX8000 is another good example for perfect club size for those (like me) who don't want / need a backpack controller like the S4.

been a vinyl dj for years, but have just ordered one of these so I can take advantage of the digital world and use vinyl with the dvs addon I ordered! Found a great deal on ebay now just waiting for them to arrive. More videos I see about this traktor controller, the more I am very excited! I am now a full native instruments artist as 90% of my production sounds are made with massive and sony acid pro to arrange everything! now I have the native instruments dj set up on the way too! just a bit of feedback, but to me the s8 looked awful with no jog wheels. it looks so difficult to use unless everything is already cued up and ready to go and not interested in scratching and worried if a track slips out of time how I adjust it, which is why I went with s4 mk3 as I am able to add technics with dvs and has adjustable jog wheels. would have been nice to see the strip for searching through tracks on there but hoping this s4 mk3 will be able to search through tracks well enough. I have 100% confidence with NI products..Soon as I have some more money, I will be ordering the latest massive.. looks amazing..i love native instruments products!

I've seen that the jog lights are red on start-up. It would be awesome if there is functionality to change the lighting for decks A-B, and C-D. The blue light is very distinctive, but the yellow not that much (as per my eyes, off course).
Really curious if this i s something that can be controlled.

ich habe folgende Anliegen:
ein externes Mischpult wird über line in an Traktor s4 mk3 angeschlossen.
Traktor bekommt auch Signal, der Ton ist da, allerdings fängt es an zu rauschen. es hört sich an Leerlauf geräusch, evtl an ein leichteres brummen.
Je höher der Pegel, desto lauter. wer könnte behilflich sein. Danke vorab.
Do you guys have any ideas for making a new version of the X1?
I love the old X1. I have two, allowing me to easily manipulate all 4 channels! The layout of the X1 and all of the functionality and key combination shortcuts make it invaluable. A filter is the only thing it lacks, but everything else is easily accessible!
Why do the jog wheels dont spin after they got adjusted? Is there a possibility to reset the mechanism after adjusting them?
Hi Eric great overview will S4 work with Z2 mixer. I have the z2 and i"m looking at the s4 right now.

This thing is ALMOST perfect...
I wish we could use this without the software as a hardware mixer...just like the sx3... AND it would be awesome not to have to sacrfice one of the channels for a mic input or aux input. Additional dedicated inputs for that matter would be awesome.. last thing I really miss are two usb ports for seamless transitions between DJs.. Especially when considering the price.
At the moment Im thinking about getting either the s4 mk3 or the pioneer ddj sx3. I have turntables and already own serato and traktor equipment so I dont really care whether i can use one or the other software. Even tho video mixing is only possible with Serato DJ..its cool that you can use timecode vinyl right out the box with the s4 mk3... while you have to buy the dvs upgrade with the sx3, which adds to its already higher price.
The motorized platters and the smaller size of the s4 mk3 are the biggest plus points for the unit for me. The sx3 is a rather large controller.. but it also has various mic inputs, two usb cards and you can directly see on the jogwheels where you are in the track, which is especially helpfull when scratching. All in all I think I really wish the sx3 was smaller and had motorized platters^^

Almost perfect is pretty damn good! All the features you feel are missing could be provided by a small powered mixer for cheap. Just buy one and enjoy the S4. A little mixer is great to have in your DJ bag anyway! 👍🏽
@@TrNdke I have a selection of mixers, turntables and stuff at home, but I would not want to be lugging around an extra mixer with an all in one controller like the sx3 or the s4 mk3.
I still feel like they sacrficed some exact visual feedback on the jogwheels for track positioning in order to prop up the haptic feedback aspect. It better be super good^^
Now if you guys can just make modular deck controls like the D2 with the screens built in but with these jogwheels. Oh and fx controls for all 4 decks as well lol. I would pay for that

You always give good explanations. I love Native Instruments, I have maschine MK2, S4 MK2, D2 (2), F1(2), audio 10, I hope I could get a S4 MK3 and Maschine MK3 soon. By the way, when is NI going to make Z4? It would be wonderful if they add options to make effects for our voices ( for gingles ).

So my question is, his key layout format on this demo shows the key in letters eg F min. However I haven’t been able to find how to change the key format on my controller or software from eg 11m number format. Does anyone know how? Thanks
I'd like a software update to make posible difrent coloring of tracks just like Virtual DJ and a "sidelist" for automix.

@Native Instruments , why did you not provide a filter active led light by each filter knob?
You can turn the mixer fx/filter on or off with the button under the knob. It glows yellow if it is turned on. If the knob is at 12 o'clock then filter is off anyway.

hey, with the samples decks how would I change and select different samples to play without having to use my laptop mouse pad? Is it done in the same way as the S4 mk3 by holding the pad below the sample and rotating the browse knob and volume/filter by using the loop or move knobs? Thanks

Hello Eric, how hard is it to pull off the knobs? I am 3D printing some that are florescent for black light. Are there plans to replace how its plugged in? Thats a huge plug. Lastly, looking for more tutorials on this as well as Traktor Pro 3. CHeers!
Hey Mr. Boneyard, the knobs are quite easy to pull off. The Plug will stay as is - you mean the PSU, right? It's the standard NI size for a power plug. HAY NATIVE, i have big bug on my s4mk3. When im touching the jogwheel, it can stop a track like im chracing even if i lift my finger up and the track stay in place like im holding on to it... and one more, pitch faders. If i speed or slow a track, and afther that load a new track on that deck witgout moving back my pitch fader back to zero, my zero of the pitch fader will be the place where i left it form the previus track. I found that a bignpain in the ass and im shure u can fix it in updates, SO PLEASE do it. Its not a entry lvl piece of gear for 200e its almost 1000e. I mean that hurted my pocket, but i believe and love tracktor form day 1. 5years ago s2mk1 then s4mk2 and now mk3
Okay, but can you still hold SHIFT to "drop"/release the main filters? And what do I need to do to disable/enable Snap, since there is only a QUANT button?
Hold Shift+Quant Button = Snap. The drop release is not in there AFAIK . this is why you have the On/Off buttons below the knobs.

No it is for Mac or PC. You can't connect the S4 to a tablet. However, you can get a free Traktor app for iOS instead.
Why put the phono channel on the center deck?
So the ground for Both cables can be connected to the ground plug maybe?

Hey, it's from the Maschine Expansion Carbon Decay. The Demo Prject is called Worm. I just recorded it and did a quick arrangement to have a track for the video. The Stems part is partly Fuse - Them.

No as it had an awesome sounding 24 bit 96 kHz soundcard built in to control 4 stereo decks.
