    ---
    Uncertainty is not new for the marijuana industry, which saw an increase in medical dispensary raids in the early years of the Obama administration despite statements from the president and his attorney general Eric Holder assuring voters that they would respect state law. Obama's Department of Justice mellowed out a bit in his second term and more or less abided by the Cole memo, which directs law enforcement to direct enforcement efforts towards operations selling to minors, growing on public land, or selling over state lines.
    On the campaign trail, Trump's statements on the issue sounded reassuring to many advocates of legalization.
    "I think medical should happen, right? Don't we agree?" Trump asked an audience at a rally in Nevada, a state whose voters would choose to legalize the drug for recreational use later that year. "And then I really believe you should leave it up to the states. It should be a state situation."
    But Trump's appointment of enthusiastic drug warrior Jeff Sessions as Attorney General concerned many who want to see cannabis legalized. While Sessions has made it abundantly clear in recent public statements that he's no fan of marijuana legalization, he hasn't called for an all-out crackdown in the 28 states that have legalized pot in one form or another.
    "States, I get, can pass whatever laws they choose," he told an audience at the National Association of Attorneys General earlier this year. "But I'm not sure we're going to be a better, healthier nation if we have marijuana being sold at every corner grocery store."
    Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer has made similarly ambiguous statements, seeming to want to draw a hard distinction between medical and recreational cannabis.
    The American public, on the other hand, appears fairly unified on this issue. Medical marijuana enjoys broad public support, and a recent Quinnipiac poll shows 71 percent of Americans believe the federal government should refrain from interfering in states that legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational use.
    In the video above, we asked several entrepreneurs working in the marijuana industry to react to statements from Trump and his administration officials and to give their forecasts for the future of legal pot under the new administration. Watch to find out what they said.

    So many people put in prison just for having some pot . There lives ruined forever . The failed war on drugs has caused more death , sorrow and imprisonment than any law ever written . The laws are beyond cruel . 20 years mandatory for having a small amount in some states but your out in 5 to 7 for murder even if you laugh at the victims family in court .

Get with the program people. This is just the government trying to control and regulate everything. Think about law enforcement they don't like it cause they are going to be losing alot of money. They will no longer be able to put good hard working citizens in jail for something so stupid. Also think about the big pharma , they will loss millions of dollars because marijuana can treat a number of ilnesses. Fuck the pills . Chemicals Kill And Cannabis HEALS. I'm well aware that Cannabis has chemicals that the plant naturally produces but they are not man made chemicals. That is why we grow organically . Stupid Fucks.......

      Sessions isn’t sure, we’d be a healthier and a better off nation with marijuana stores everywhere but he doesn’t say a thing about all the liquor stores on every corner and the people that beat their wives and children under it’s influence or drive, hit, and/or kill innocent and potentially unaware bystanders but marijuana is the devil. His mama must’ve said so. Isn’t it also funny, how in most other aspects, the people we saw on TV, wrestlers, news anchors, etc., as youngsters are now retired or have moved on but we still see the same decrepit old men still running for office. Lol.

    I'm a disabled vet who found help and relief thru using mj. Unfortunately, the city I live in does not support its use for med purposes and neither does the VA. PTSD, depression and severe chronic pain wears on a person. I've since stopped using weed because of the negative pressures put on me by my city, family, the va etc. Weed will never be truly legal like alchohol is or even cigs. Ignorance is bliss when it comes to understanding the many benefits of weed as an alternative to popping pain pills and anti depressants. So I've succumb to the mindset that we cannot win this battle. The powers that be will always get their way.

    If it was legalized in every state it would bring in so much in tax dollars and so many people that get charged for a little bit of pot and go to jail it would free up room in jail's and prisons for actual criminals. I'm a cronic back pain sufferer for 8 years that's on painkillers for those 8 years I had to give up smoking pot to be able to be on pain meds. I would rather smoke if it were legal than pop a pill which I'm severely addicted too.

I am 61 and been sick for several years and when i could not afford my meds a friend talked me into trying it and after a couple days I started noticing several changes to the good such as sleeping all night and improved appetite and my seizures went from 5 to 6 a day to 1 or 2 a week. you must be smoking some yourself here, Federal law trumps state law. Why do you think the feds raid marijuana grows in states that made it "legal"? because they can. State laws only govern the citizens within a particular state, but federal laws apply to all U.S. citizens. When state and federal laws clash, think of the federal law as the trump card.

    • @Kitswain59
      @Kitswain59 7 років тому

      States created the federal government. States make marijuana legal, and by law, the feds should stay out of it, but tyranny reigns, and that's the problem. States are nullifying unconstitutional federal laws, because they can. States have the power to resist any federal laws.

    • @philomath369
      @philomath369 7 років тому +1

      Courts at the state and federal level, including the U.S. Supreme Court, repeatedly have rejected the theory of nullification.[2] The courts have decided that under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, federal law is superior to state law, and that under Article III of the Constitution, the federal judiciary has the final power to interpret the Constitution. Therefore, the power to make final decisions about the constitutionality of federal laws lies with the federal courts, not the states, and the states do not have the power to nullify federal laws. - Wiki

      Legalizing all drugs, or total decriminalization of drugs would be the best thing that could happen. It would completely destroy the illegal market, and the Mexican cartels. It would also destroy the drug war and finally put an end to it; Which is precisely why they would never do it. The government and law enforcement, the criminal justice system, prison industrial complex, cities and counties, etc. want to victimize people so they can continue to generate revenue, and guarantee their job security. It is criminal and corrupt, for a government to remove human rights; Or remove them and give some of them back as long as they can tax, license, and regulate, whatever it is they make money from. It is no different when corporations rip us off, or when they bribe politicians to make a natural plant/product illegal because it benefits them financially. This is not liberty. It is exactly what the Founding Fathers went to war against, when they founded America: Taxation without representation.

    Many people here don't understand the concept of addiction. Marijuana itself isn't addictive when you smoke it. But if a person makes smoking (in general) a routine like I did, their body will naturally create a dependence for it. Eventually, your body relies on a higher dosage to get that same first high effect called building up a tolerance. As fellow smokers, you should all know that you never just smoke one time. Of course I always say "I can quit whenever I want", but after turning it into routine it's a lot harder to quit. And yes, marijuana withdrawal does exist (although not as harsh as opioids but still); which makes it even more difficult. I mean, how can you tell me otherwise? I am the one addicted to it. But to tell other viewers smoking isn't addictive? What a crock of shit man. We both know we want another hit right now.

    the problem with leaving the pot laws to the states is this: Mi is legal for rec. pot and Med. But the state lets the old people( these are the people that have been taught that pot is an evil drug, sent by the devil himself, for the sole purpose of destroying the lives of the good people in this community!!! their whole lives) in the different counties make up their own laws on whether marijuana based businesses are allowed or not. If pot is legal then why can't I sell it at my store? In this county??? No new pot based businesses in Sanilac County, Mi. Plus the police use entrapment tactics to set up dispensaries in sting operations. In an effort to close existing pot based businesses. GROWERS AND SELLERS BEWARE!!! The very people we elect and PAY to represent us in the U S Gov. seem to have their own agenda that does not compliment the views or needs of their respective constituents.

    Marijuana must be really a very good and valuable thing, since it causes so much controversy despite the fact that no one really succeed in proving it to be bad; and while some have endeavoured to demonize it, they in the process of their research journey found only the evidence to the contrary.

    I was on antidepressants last year and slept most of the time. Just felt more depressed. I started smoking marijuana and have seen improvement in not only my behavior but I feel like going out now. I feel like I want to get out of this state of my depression and before I was falling deeper. It was a scary moment in my life. I dont recommend anyone to getting any type of this pharmaceutical drug. Its terrible and Dr's just prescribe and prescribe. They don't care about US they care about getting rich off us just like the pharmaceutical industry. We need to get out and vote if we really want change. Congress is bought and don't work for our interest. Lets hold them to the fire because they are fucking us over.

    This is just my opinion but I don't think any sitting president will ever declassify marijuana from the schedule one classification. It is truly up to all of the states. Once every state has legalized it for recreational use , the federal government will have no choice but to declassify it. Politicians on both sides's are the same in the fact that neither one would ever want to take responsibility for the declassification.
