According to my Hawaiian studies, America saw how much of a success Spain did at colonizing Philippines that they wanted to try Imperialism. And Although they lost Philippines, they got Hawaii by imprisoning their queen and got the island annexed as the 50th state. Knowing this, songs for sovereignty is always feels so powerful. Ekolu’s ‘We are Hawaii’s finest’ gives me the same feels as dagondung.
Please, please so much potential for these boys. Aside from polishing their musical skills, they need Filipino History and Culture lessons pa talaga because that’s what they brand themselves as ambassadors of.

I don't know if it's only me but the Dong Dong ay sounds very austronisian, maybe because our ancestors before the colonizers were from polenisians. The music gives connections from the past.
Because it is austronesian. polynesians are related to austronesians. We don't originate from them. It may be the other way around.

I just read a comment that said "TAMALA TAMALA" which Alamat uses in their introductions translates to " 'Ayan na, Paparating na" (or "There they come" in English) in Ibaloi Language... and that just made so much sense I literally feel like crying because of how much this group and its whole team is putting so much national meaning in every intro, outfit, songs, etc. that Alamat is representing.

Rappler - pls invest in good mics and sound system. Also, pls secure a good sound engineer. Their mics and the track was unevenly mixed. You continually invite guests to sing, so this will be a great investment.
