    Dude, watching your videos makes me want to fire my Gridseed Blades back up. I am going to have to install a fairly large solar/wind configuration soon....(Going Off-grid) and I want to play around with mining again.....All five of my rigs were mounted in milk crates....that was the craze in 2014....lol. I know it won't make me rich, but like you said it is kinda fun...

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  4 роки тому

      Yeh, hard to make money from it at the moment but it is enjoyable..

    Please do not use SATA to power the rises unless you want to burn down your house, they're not meant for supplying the amount of power the lane requires.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому +1

      Yep, very contentious issue i've read we have a BUNCH in service both ways so our own research is happening as well as a few other things.

    • @neutronpcxt372
      @neutronpcxt372 6 років тому +1

      Yes absolutely. Do not use SATA cables at all! They can only provide a max of 45W, and the PCI-E spec can go up to 75W! Your cables could burn under load.

    • @HBPowerwall

      We have a solution just have to get a few things in place :)

    Great video and just one question are you going to make a video on how to you Mod'd the Video card and what config is need in the Bio of the MB ?

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому +1

      We are considering it, the issue is not sure if I want to share my mistakes, the learning curve has been massive in the past week with considerable expense in buying cards to test, i'll see how much interest there is in this type of thing.. My angle is solar mining - but seems building might become a very large part as well .

  • @DiyintheGhetto
    @DiyintheGhetto 6 років тому

    Hey Pete awesome build you and your friend there. But i was wondering something. IF you ever thing of doing a video on your mining software and how you set it up? I know there are many videos on that but not as much as in details ans that has as many cards as you have. So what do you think?

  • @GidiSegal
    @GidiSegal 6 років тому +5

    Replace those sata adapters now! they have been known to catch on fire, sata isn't meant to take the load of gpu's use molex adapters instead

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому +1

      Melting isn't really catching fire - even the massive farms say they biggest maintenance load is Molex failure. I'll see what we can do to reduce the issues :)

    • @neutronpcxt372
      @neutronpcxt372 6 років тому +1

      Molex is bad, but not as bad as SATA adapters.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому

      I'm getting that :)

      @KingOfKYA 6 років тому +1

      Honestly i would be willing to bet the failures are due to the poor quality cables the supplied cables on riser cards are likely copper plated aluminum (cheapst possible) and the wring gauge may also be under. Aluminum wire does not crimp right and will case fires if not used in a spring terminal aka wrong material to crimp in a connector designed for copper. (Bad crimps are also a thing but more likely wrong wire was used in them) you should be able to draw 1.5-3 amps (dep on plating) of a properly done sata connector. And a 1x lane slot should only be supplying around 0.5 amps MAX, per pci-e spec. The risers n video are 1x pci

    I've mined gold. That was fun. A little rougher work than this. In any case, good luck!

      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому

      I would love to try real gold mining.. or even just detecting - I think that would be quite enjoyable for the family to do together :) real gold mining might have negative effects on my back i inherited from my old man lol still be fun to say i've done it

    over priced MB, 8 gig of ram not needed especially with such a slow processor and please get rid of them sata power connectors , just get 6 pin splitter and run one to the gfx card and one to the riser, the riser dosnt draw alot of power but its way to much for the sata connections and wire ...trust me i melted a few in my time , its not worth a fire or a short frying everything

    BTW, you said "You're support helps channel"
    Are you a bit tired?
    Also, good thing you are using solar power. Otherwise, I might not be so happy for you to build a Crypto mining rig.
    Also, put fan speed on minimum, undervolt and underclock all the cards, and overclock the memory. Do not overclock the core, the speeds gains are negligible compared to power draw and efficiency.
    Finally, add a 3x12V fans on top. You want to the cards to be as cool and as stable as possible. So you can sell them back for as much as you can, as they can be in perfect condition if you do so.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому

      Its possible lol
      Plan is to do it 100 percent DC so it still fits what i do, Batrium now controls it when rig is in power shed to turn on and off based off voltage so still quite relevant in that respect

      It would more more power efficient, and less failure prone, but more expensive per watt.

    GPU mining profit have been going down slowly and steadily last 2 months and Return Of Profit is already down at 1,5 - 2 YEARS instead of the 3 months it had in beginning of the GPU mining fad start. It takes special kind of stupid to keep investing in GPU mining at this point. If you want to make money on crypto currency you make a LOT more money much faster by doing trading instead...

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 років тому

      Call me stupid then :) I'm good with that - I also trade, build the rigs, Sell them, Service them etc - makes more than trading :) No need to be so narrow-minded - Some can still profit from GPU mining and I'm one of them. All it takes is to be open to all opportunities out there.
