The knees have a tab behind not just the one at the front, lining them up needs some work but they make the legs more solid (I didn't notice until I saw Emgo's review). I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the wing tabs because a lot of poses would require to untab them anyway with the null-rays on the shoulders bumping on the wings, but it's also possible they may be pre-tooling for accessories of some sort. I guess they really wanted the arms to have better proportions than the original version of the mold so they went for that instead of making them a bit shorter.

The problem is Hasbro should've done something new, from the ground up, as opposed to half-arsing it from figure that's over a decade old.

As someone who never owned *any* seeker figure before siege, I quite enjoy the earthrise offering. However, every negative you point out is valid. The only reason I like the earthrise one more is that the only seekers I have are siege Skywarp and earthrise Skywarp. The black color on the earthrise rendition looks better than the dark grey on the siege one. Both are really cool though, and I especially like how the siege tetrajet looks like a BSG viper.

As someone who saw the reviews for Core Class Starscream and Megatron, and once said that the latter's Earthrise figure could have benefited from a lot of cues from the Core Class (paint, head, nature of the tank gun, though I take back saying it is what Earthrise outright should've been), what elements from Core Class Scream would you say could've easily been done on ER? For sure, it could've benefited from Siege's joints and kibble management.
It does kind of stink that, for someone who has neither version yet, I feel like I'm only choosing Earthrise as a consolation, coz this definitely was the most divisive character toy-wise. The debate in my head is whether the need for the accurate F-15 jet look outweighs the need for a fun toy to play with.
@@DrLockdown Looking at my Henkei Jetfire next to me, given ER Screamer's problems come from being slavishly devoted to the Classics mechanics, you think Classics Jetfire would've been a better starting point but with a lot mods to engineering or could they have done something with the admittedly shellforming (not saying it's bad) Siege?
BRO! HASBRO! ARE YOU PULLING OUR LEGS!? YOU MADE THE SIEGE SEEKERS, MIGHT I ADD WERE THE BEST SEEKERS WE HAVE EVER GOTTEN ONLY FOR YOU TO RE-OVERUSE THE CLASSICS MOULD AND EVEN FUCK IT UP! WHY?!
Honestly, idk why i like the earthrise seeker more than the siege figure without talking about the seige figure. More importantly, i have never owned or even seen the classics mold. The siege figure i have (starscream and hotlink) has the main problem that the shell has to flex so much to fit correctly, and the chest plate would never stay on. Literally any time i transform it, it would pop off without question.
Look, I know how much people like G1, I never grew up with it but I have seen some G1 earlier in life (The 86 movie being a prime example) however I would appreciate more Unicron Trilogy figures or even some Prime ones but for me, I'd like some Studio Series style War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron figures because the designs are some of my Faves (Mainly War For Cybertron Optimus and Fall of Cybertron Shockwave) and honestly those Designs need more love. I know Hasbro did those Designs already in Generations but I would like to see those Designs get much better figures and better weapons like Optimus's Axe or Megatron's Mace but that's just me.
While I agree that the siege figure is better than earthrise, I have both, I…am having more fun with the earthrise cus of stability. It’s honestly has a solid transformation.
Solid figure, but I feel like the problem with a lot of earthrise figures is I can’t really justify getting them as they are just retooled versions of toys I already bought a year before
If you never grabbed the Siege Seeker mold (Which most people have) Yeah grab this Starscream. But if you own Siege but wanna keep your copy for a little while, I recommend ER if its on sale. Same with his Seeker brothers that are now $60 U.S. (The upcoming two-pack) IF you never got the Skywarp figure from it the Siege mold.
@@DrLockdown Siege Skywarp's aftermarket price would have you say otherwise. He was the only one of the three seekers that I was missing (After Starscream and Thundercracker) yet after seeing how much he goes for on Ebay and various other sites to this very day, I just bit the bullet and got the Earthrise Seekers since getting all 3 of them was actually more affordable than paying upwards of 150+ on just Skywarp.
@@tarkus1113 I assumed it was because Japan never got Skywarp. The only official Hasbro release was done in America and Canada; nowhere else got it. Not that this release will do much. Considering you need a freight forwarder to access Takara Tomy Mall, scalpers can still have a field day.
Done some more thinking and finally figured out why Earthrise Scream bothers me on a fundamental level, despite it being a fairly neat representation of Earth-mode Starscream, and overall a toy I don't think I'll be bummed at all about getting if that upcoming SS86 Coronation version, if it's real, turns out to just be this. It's not necessarily the flaws that arise from being an upscale of Classics Starscream, but rather that he apparently gets that special preferential treatment because it was "good for its time", but some others who also had previously good engineering don't get that treatment, like Arcee and the usual Ultra Magnus that I've griped about before (I'm over the fact he's an armor former, but I still feel far more should've been done for how the Kingdom version's armor pieces transform to resemble parts of CW's, such as the leg armor pieces). I think that's what makes the fact that he's a Classics upscale leave more of a sour taste in the mouth than it should, because it's two levels of favoritism, one less understandable than the other, that of course being pandering to the Geewunners. It's something that constantly hangs over my head when I hear that ER Scream is explicitly meant to evoke the Classics version, especially when I see the wasted potential of some of his other line mates. Dunno why it bothers me so much, but it does. Maybe coz I wanna like the updates, but in good faith can't.
Not by Hasbro's designers at least, but yeah, the fans definitely do. Enough to pass those molds as "updated" or good enough. Shame too, coz people give ER Arcee's shellforming an easy pass coz "accuracy" when the T30 already did things much better. And it's a fanmade design made official when the guy who made it joined Takara. I guess only Hot Rod/Rodimus and Springer get the glow up they deserved.
I personally perfer the earthrise mold 1. I just got a generations dirge and im mixed on the og mold 2. Ive had alot of problems with the siege mold(along with earthrise and its something im writing a script on rn 3. @@DrLockdown Back in 2012, I was wishing for a G1 line of toys. Siege answered that and it was so fun. But now I’m burnt out on it. I’m worried that this over reliance on G1 will do irreparable damage to the franchise.
Oh god… No..! No it can’t be happening! It’s so lazy! NOOOOOOO!!!! I’m starting to… _enjoy_ Earthrise Starscream! NOOOOOOO!! In any regular year, an upscaled retool in mainline would be lazy, but I’m guessing they didn’t have time to make an original mold because of Covid, so they thought “hey, people like that Classics mold, let’s just do that!” So looking at it from that angle, it’s not a lazy mess with dated design, it’s an odd decision forced upon us by the pandemic. He is worse than the other modern figures, but that’s because he’s not a modern figure. He’s kind of okay! Honestly, I’m really glad I’m starting to enjoy this guy! I’ve had him for about a year and whenever I’d look at him I’d just get sad… not anymore!
I actually really like the figure, or rather the leader Corination Starscream. I LOVE the throne helps with a lot of action photos. Also regarding to the opening of the video, f*ck G1ers or “gee-whiners” as I like to call them.
I will never understand people who like the Siege Seeker mold with its terrible transformation, alt mode that looks too generic to be good and a nice robot mode that has too much wing and not enough engineering for anything else… When I compare the Siege to WW (which was a better Tetrajet fight me) and Cybertron (not totally a Tetrajet but it was based on the design) it’s clear as day how weak the Tetrajet design, transformation and figure is. If you guys like it that’s cool, but it’s really not as good as everyone loves to praise it. As for the ER Starscream… he’s okay. Idk I enjoy playing and transforming the Classics mold much better than the ER one. Sure it has more articulation, but the Classics Deluxe feels like a better toy in concept… I’m still not totally sure why. (Also the Coneheads were terrible… if your gonna remold the Seeker mold do it right Hasbro)
I saw your comment by chance and I'm pleasantly surprised someone shares my sentiment towards siege Starscream. Siege SS transformation is just so uninspired and "un-fun"; it's literally folding almost the entire robot under the tetrajet portion. It's really bad for a transformer toy, in my opinion.
@@_V.Va_ not really… the Siege one doesn’t have Ankle tilt, his arms are also blocked by the wings all the same and the only new thing is a waist swivel which I’ll give up a waist swivel if it meant they could have made the Alt mode better or at least gave some level of effort to that horrid transformation.
I always find these videos interesting. I suppose if I didn't hate the way the seige one looked, its proportions,, the big hunk of garbage it turns into, and the downright masturbatory pannel lines, I'd definitely concede that structurally, it's the better figure. What is that tiny Starscream?
X2 toys
@@DrLockdownthanks!
I just noticed the jet mode is like a rectangle with a flat jet-shaped piece of cardboard overtop
To be fair, that is most jet transformers
Honestly, idk why i like the earthrise seeker more than the siege figure without talking about the seige figure. More importantly, i have never owned or even seen the classics mold. The siege figure i have (starscream and hotlink) has the main problem that the shell has to flex so much to fit correctly, and the chest plate would never stay on. Literally any time i transform it, it would pop off without question.
Woah, i guess you don't really have to remove siege seeker null rays. Til
It's a pretty cool feature.
2 years later and G1 is still what they are milking dry with some minor stops in more interesting territory
This toy overall suffers from being derivative of a much older figure. I don’t know if it’s a retool, but still. Engineering has evolved.
Are F15 Eagles actually HO scale?
The halo 3 odst ost in the background is realy great
Do you know about the pegs in the back of the shins to help the legs hold together
Yep. They don't work on mine. They do work on sandstorm, but he comes with a whole heap of issues
They'res 8 Versions of the Siege Seeker mild as of 2020
Hotlink isn't out yet
@@DrLockdown Not in Australia but he's in a couple Walmart's and that's fair game to count
@@Yesitsmyrealname Even then, when they announced the seekers there were still only seven.
@@DrLockdown Starscream yes but the first Hotlinks were hitting By the time the two pack was announced.
While I agree that the siege figure is better than earthrise, I have both, I…am having more fun with the earthrise cus of stability. It’s honestly has a solid transformation.
Solid figure, but I feel like the problem with a lot of earthrise figures is I can’t really justify getting them as they are just retooled versions of toys I already bought a year before
13:47 spoke too soon...
Wee hheeee. Whoosshh!
I'd still say grab siege instead, since that's about to hit the aftermarket
@@DrLockdown Siege Skywarp's aftermarket price would have you say otherwise. He was the only one of the three seekers that I was missing (After Starscream and Thundercracker) yet after seeing how much he goes for on Ebay and various other sites to this very day, I just bit the bullet and got the Earthrise Seekers since getting all 3 of them was actually more affordable than paying upwards of 150+ on just Skywarp.
I kept thinking that skywarp would go down in price with the advent of the two-pack...but nope. Damn scalpers
Takara's drop for Skywarp is supposedly to simmer the price
Many people are also giving it special treatment because "at least its geewun this time"...which is stupid...
So are Arcee and Ultra Magnus, moreso the former and they have movie star status, but they don't get that same treatment. Is it coz he's Starscream?
They do. People give them a pass as well.
Fact of the matter is they all have Issues here and there!!!!
Cool you use the Halo ODST ost
Actually a jazz cover
@@DrLockdown cool
"Paint is extremely durable" on the copy I have his black head paint chipped MORE than the red
Yikes. Guess I got lucky in that front
Official OSKO.
All I ever say about it.
...also did you just call Starscream's feet *_sexy?!_*
Yes
I like the conehead version tbh
I'm actually ok with earthrise because I'm a newer collector so I get some great figures that aren't masterpiece priced
It is decently priced, but I still recommend grabbing a tetrajet if you can
How do u only have 884 subs?
Well 885 now.
Dunno...my guess is it's some algorithm shenanigans. All I can really do is keep hacking away...
@drlockdown you ca peg the back of the legs in the into the leg
Doesn't work on my copy. Works on G2 sandstorm, but they just won't stay in place for Starscream.
QC gremlin strikes again
@@DrLockdown ahh
The QC Gremlins strike on my copy of thundercracker when the joints were fused together
Even the Master Pieces have little Issues here and there earthrise siege the original classic transformers
I don't think it's a fair comparison to siege, they're alien design versus earth design makes them different figures in my opinion...
It's the way they're handled is the thing.
@@_V.Va_ what do you mean? As in engineering?
Yes.
You just have to do better with the volume dude.
I personally perfer the earthrise mold
1. I just got a generations dirge and im mixed on the og mold
2. Ive had alot of problems with the siege mold(along with earthrise and its something im writing a script on rn
3. Both siege and earthrise are good, which is better depends fully on each individual’s preferences
Thats ok your opinion but Er is objectively a worse transformer toy than siege
Technically earthrise seekers are based off the f-14 not the f-15 like they should be
Really hope Hasbro will move away from G1 for a bit. It’s getting old now, let’s see some other series.
Im hoping so too, but I'm not holding my breath
@@DrLockdown Back in 2012, I was wishing for a G1 line of toys. Siege answered that and it was so fun. But now I’m burnt out on it. I’m worried that this over reliance on G1 will do irreparable damage to the franchise.
I don't think it will damage it long term, but it is causing a LOT of stagnation
Oh god…
No..! No it can’t be happening! It’s so lazy!
NOOOOOOO!!!!
I’m starting to… _enjoy_ Earthrise Starscream! NOOOOOOO!!
In any regular year, an upscaled retool in mainline would be lazy, but I’m guessing they didn’t have time to make an original mold because of Covid, so they thought “hey, people like that Classics mold, let’s just do that!”
So looking at it from that angle, it’s not a lazy mess with dated design, it’s an odd decision forced upon us by the pandemic. He is worse than the other modern figures, but that’s because he’s not a modern figure. He’s kind of okay!
Honestly, I’m really glad I’m starting to enjoy this guy! I’ve had him for about a year and whenever I’d look at him I’d just get sad… not anymore!
What do you think is the worst newest transformers masterpiece. In my opinion is Bumblebee 2.0
Hound. It falls apart. At least bumblebee doesn't break
But at least he doesn't have a hunchback.
I actually really like the figure, or rather the leader Corination Starscream. I LOVE the throne helps with a lot of action photos. Also regarding to the opening of the video, f*ck G1ers or “gee-whiners” as I like to call them.
I will never understand people who like the Siege Seeker mold with its terrible transformation, alt mode that looks too generic to be good and a nice robot mode that has too much wing and not enough engineering for anything else…
When I compare the Siege to WW (which was a better Tetrajet fight me) and Cybertron (not totally a Tetrajet but it was based on the design) it’s clear as day how weak the Tetrajet design, transformation and figure is.
Still has better articulation than ER Scream.
Not tryna be a dick if you like the way it looks, but for me, the aesthetic is all wrong.
