      Agree. I despise this guy, he's yanking instead of using appropriate leg pressure as well. The horse is clearly uncomfortable if not flat out in pain.

    Never rein a 2 year old not only is it hard on their joints but they're still growing amd maturing.

    My personal opinion: do not ride a 2 year old. You can sit on them, but riding them is only going to hurt them. Wait until around 3 to start riding, and 4-5 for cantering and sliding stops.

      Záleží na koni a jeho postavě a plemeni, vzhledem k tomu že je vidět že to je quarter horse a quarteři mají postavu dodělánou dříve a jsou nasvalené dříve, protože jsou menší svalnatější a kratší, než jiné koně což znamená že věk je obsedani je akorát

      @@magdalenabouzkova8800it’s still awful for their spines and backs. Trust me, it doesn’t matter what horse it is they WILL break down before they’re even 5 if you do this with them.

      @@EquineMetalhead it’s not that, yes he’s old enough to do a walk, trot, canter, maybe gallop routine with nothing else, but he’s to young to reined because his bones are not fully developed and he should be at LEAST 5 before he does huge stopping+ other reining activities!

    Arthritis and injections by 10. Love these animals hate to see them all washed out and in pain with low end horse traders at 8 years old.

      Exactly! I have so much fun with my 17 year old arabian mare who is still totally sound. I don't even think of my 11 year old TB as quite middle aged, because we're still learning so much technique wise with dressage and jumping. There is so much more fulfillment from a riding perspective to have a long partnership, but I guess for some people it's about money, rather than horse welfare.

    Just for the record, some horses can mature that early. If definitely depends on genetics. I still believe that you shouldn’t saddle break them till they are at least 3, it’s just better in the long run.

    Two years old is fine with light riding. It’s fine to break em under saddle at that age IF that’s when they mature. Some quarter horses mature early, so whenever they’re broken so young they typically do light riding.

      This isn’t light riding though, this is one of the most weight bearing exercises possible

    Uhhh- bro you can ride him lightly maybe not even a full on ride you can only like ride him in corrals and stuff at 2 you should probably wait til he’s about 3 and a half or 4 to start training this hard. He had to have been being ridden at a way to early age if he’s this good already…..poor boy

      Agree. At 2 i usually only desensitize them to extremely light saddles and girths. Rather safe than sorry.

    Horses aren’t fully developed till 6 or 7. I would lightly start them at 3 and slowly work my way up to hard riding by the time they are 7. And we wonder why some horses have sooo many problems and are lame at age 15

    For everyone saying that this is abuse I’m pretty sure that horse ain’t 2 years old. A 2 year old would not be that developed and thick and that stop is a very well trained stop not a 2 year old stop.❤ I can guarantee you that this is not a 2 year old, if you go look up a 2 year old colt you’ll see what I mean❤❤
    Edit: Also pretty sure this video is not theirs so they don’t know how old he is, if I’m wrong and this video is theirs than sorry 😂

      This is my video, I filmed it. Also, the colt is 2 years old. When you feed a horse right and they have strong genetics, they can definitely be as thick as he is at a young age. Being as he is so strong, that is why he is capable of stopping like that therefor this is not abuse.

    guys most of those top tier reiners are like 4-6 it’s all genetics and every horse develops differently and the horse seems fine the only thing that i find wrong is that he doesn’t have back leg gear on but that’s all

      ​@@Deej496yep- I knew friends with reining horses who had significant hock arthritis by 10..... Honestly I think any sport/training practice that has horses retiring with 2/3rds of their lives still to be lived needs to be rethought.

    For everyone saying that this is abuse these horses are made for this sport..they live this sport yes this is a 2 yr old and is probably going to the futurity to show at 3 yrs old and is gonna make a great stud even 6 month old foals with that reining bloodline will slide a little.

      Any sport that retires a horse before it's lived even a third of it's lifespan needs to be re-evaluated IMO.
