Oh my these rejections were so nice. I think by the tone of the letters, and the fact so many weren't form rejections you should definitely keep querying! Good luck

Thank you for sharing your querying process! It’s helpful to see the behind the scenes of trying to get an agent because, while it’s exciting, it’s also such a scary and intimating and vulnerable process. I hope you connect with someone that will champion your books!

The fact that you received such thoughtful, detailed rejections is a VERY good sign! Because usually agents are too busy to even reply, let alone in such a detailed way, unless they were really interested. All the rejections I am getting for my science fiction novel are form rejections 😅. Only two (out of I think 22 queries I've sent so far for this one) weren't form rejections, and then they were really short (like two or three sentences encouraging me to keep trying, "it's a subjective industry", etc). So I'd say your book definitely has a good chance and you should keep querying!

Hi Kristen, can you do a video on how to write a query letter? Also, I hope we get a chance to read your book. It sounds amazing. Thanks 😊

I’d love to share the elements of a query letter-thank you for the suggestion! I’ll have to find a way to not overshare the premise of my WIP since it isn’t published yet, but I’m sure I can find a way! 😊

Hi Kristen, I am a poet and I can tell you that my genre is probably the toughest when it comes of publication, but I do never demoralise.
I am happy to hear that you also seem to see rejections that way. I have nothing against self publishing but I think that a traditional publisher can be an important step for a writer’s career. Patience is key. Best of luck ❤

Rejections are tough, but it’s a part of life 😊 I just view them as redirection and a “not yet” from the universe. I’ve always thought it’d be great to experience traditional publishing, so we’ll see! Best of luck with your poetry ❤

Thanks for sharing your rejections, they’re just opinions. Good luck. Your baby looks happy and grown up to be a little kid. 😊

I liked this video because I think we only get to hear “success stories” where everything worked out perfectly, when in reality, most of the times you have to work really hard to get to that success.
Also, I honestly think that probably your main problem was that Paranormal romance isn’t as popular as romantasy nowadays, so agents will prefer to represent what’s been selling the most.
But don’t be discouraged, as I’m sure you’ll find the right person if you keep looking! ❤

Love this perspective! It’s so important to show the whole journey and not just the highlight reel 🫶🏼 And you make a valid point-romantasy is selling like hot cakes! Hopefully some other genres will get their “moment” soon!

I love thi video! Thank you for sharing! I want to query one day but I'm hesitant because of the rejections. Hearing about some of yours makes me want to try sooner than later!
I hope your project finds a publisher. Good luck! ❤ I'm excited to hear more about the project either way!

I’m so glad to hear that! It can be scary submitting your work to complete strangers, but I’ve been blown away by the kindness of the agents 😅 Not what I was expecting, to be honest.

Thank you for sharing your letters. Very inspiring. You are the second author talking about the query tracker site. Need to look into that. Good luck and look forward to seeing the collaboration video. I am trying to remember who you used to do that with. Is it Mandi L? She has a book launch planner.

Thank you! Query Tracker is great-highly recommend. The collab is with a company (probably should have specified that), but yes, I have done authortube collabs in the past!

I wish my rejection letters were as kind.
There's just no space for male romance authors, in trad pub, without using a pen name. =/
    Keep on keeping on!

Of course! I’m glad it helped 😊 I’ll see if I can find a way to share my query letter without giving away too much of my book premise 😅 Love that idea!
