The best explainer of applied practice of Vipassana Kammathana Mindfulness techniques in Dhamma Teaching in the present day.. Best in the world right now
Thank you for the talk on Consciousnesses by Ajahn Lee. ( The talk helped me to understand why Defilements enters the mind. It’s because of these other consciousnesses that live along side our own consciousness, drowning it out and taking over.).
Bhante is actually how a monk addresses another monk in Thai Tradition but not a layman to a monk.. we call the monks 'Luang Por' or 'Luang Phu' or 'Luang Pi' (depends on age) in Thailand
Buddha never said anything about Chakras and to play with breath etc. as taught by Ajahn Lee. These are Hindu practices. Irony is that even Ajahn Thanissaro Bhikkhu also believes it as true out of devotion to his teachers without properly analyzing even after translating many of the Buddha's discourses. Playing with the breath. Controlling the breath, these are not Buddha's teachings. If one is teaching this way, then it's not the Buddha's teachings they are teaching. This is the problem with Thai Forest Tradition. They interpret the teachings in their own way. They don't emphasis on studying original teachings of the Buddha and practice according to that but give more importance to their own interpretations. These non-Buddha's teachings were infiltrated to destroy and dilute Buddha's original teachings. I, as a born Hindu can understand clearly but it's difficult for a Thai or a westerner to understand. In Ajahn Munn's biography written by Ajahn Mahaboowa, it is mentioned that Savakas were visiting Ajahn Mann to teach and instruct. Does it mean they are still living somewhere permanently? Is this what the Buddha taught us? I have not studied much about Ajahn Lee. If this what Ajahn Lee had taught as explained by Ajahn Thanissaro then it is not the Samma Samadhi as taught by the Buddha and as described in the Pali Canon. This is miccha Samadhi.
When people speak about "psychic powers " without evidence, this arises my suspicions . Psychic powers can be independently proven and if no one has been able to prove them so far it may well be as they do not exist. If someone speaks about psychic powers without evidence, either he knows something the thers do not, and then he should share, otherwise he may well be a liar or a gullible human being
It is my understanding that in most Buddhist sects, if you do gain mental powers, you are generally not allowed to admit it. So although there was a lot of speculation that Ajahn Lee was psychic, I don't believe he ever actually said that he was. Regardless, I don't personally believe in psychic powers.
Sure, I understand your position, but he was talking about Ajahn Lee, who passed on quite some time ago. It wouldn't be possible to prove the abilities of a dead man.
I am not so sure you understand my position, Ajahn lee still lived in an age of cameras and scientists. Prove his abilities would have been easy hundreds of years ago, let alone 50 years ago. If nobody wanted to try that, to prove anything, well there may be a reason why . Then please believe what you like..
As I mentioned before, Ajahn Lee never actually said he was psychic. Many people believed he was, but it was purely speculation. Thanissaro's comments about Ajahn Lee's abilities are his personal beliefs and opinions. If you have a specific question, I can try my best to answer, but I am not sure exactly what information you're looking for. Regardless, thanks for your comments.
incredibly grateful for Thanissaro ❤

Certainly the best in the Anglophone world that I know of as far as my judgement allows me to judge that.
Ajanbram monastry
As a Tai Chi practitioner, this is a very useful talk. Ajahn Lee took meditation to a high level.
Thanissaro's story about taking care of his guru during his final years and finding humor about those tough times is such a valuable lesson.

Respectfully, sure wish he could cover up his hairy shoulder. Too distracting.

It is Thankssaru Bhikku who made the claim. Either is able to beef it up and prove it, otherwise people may start to think he is a crook.
