    Derek,
    I would just like to thank you SO much for the wonderful review!
    You took the time here to make it how you wanted, and your passion and hard work come through as clear as can be.
    I am really honored to have you review these mouthpieces and I am really glad that you enjoyed them so much. I will send you the new alto piece next, whenever you are ready.
    All the best, Mark

    Great Job! Love your sound and detailed overview of each mouthpiece. I've always been curious about these mouthpieces. The plastic bit was great haha.

    Fantastic playing! Another great review! You have one of the best reviewer styles of getting straight to the point without unnecessary jabber. Very much appreciated so we can spend more time in our own practice room to perhaps one day come close to playing as well as you do.

    Nice presentation and great job on all of the pieces. I like that you mentioned the sound differences you can get with a reed hardness.

    Excellent review. Best video I've seen/heard showcasing the differences between mouthpieces. I especially liked hearing the music in my right ear and you in my left. I think that was key in helping illustrate the differences. Side note - you can really play, man! The 4 thumbs down you got can only be from jealous haters...

    Freakin AWESOME comparison! I was leaning towards the Robusto but that classic also sounds AMAZING! I play on his Merlot but will be ordering a Robusto soon. Wow.

    Great video, thx Derek! I really like the idea of different sound profiles of the different mpcs. I guess this is a useful way to classify mpcs. 👍🏻 love your videos and playing man, keep it up!

    I play Alto and have the Alto’s 10MFan mouthpieces, and canon,y say great things about them, if I ever play Tenor I will get them as well, such a fantastic review, did you do a review of the Alto Mouthpieces. Personally I love the Showtime

    that's a high class mpc comparison - every comparison should learn from this. and the transcribtions was really close and most dead on Hank Mobley.

    This video was exactly what I needed: an amazing comparison of the mouthpieces I’m currently looking into by such a great reviewer! My only question is where you would fit the chameleon into this lineup?

    • @SaxSpy
      @SaxSpy  4 роки тому +1

      Chameleon is brighter than the Showtime, so I'd personally want to try some Brecker or pop solos with it if I get the chance!

  • @felipemendozar

    how would you compare it with the BSS S-series?

    • @SaxSpy
      @SaxSpy  4 роки тому

      This doesn't have the horseshoe chamber so its a bi5 more round sound, especially down low and doesn't get a hard tone like soloists. a bit of a rollover also helps

    hi, i was going to buy the robusto model. what is the difference between version 7 * and 7 **? which is you prefer between the two? thank you

    • @SaxSpy
      @SaxSpy  2 роки тому +1

      tip opening - 7* = .105", 7** = .108". like 7.5 and 7.75

    • @lucasax78
      @lucasax78 2 роки тому

      @@SaxSpy hello, thank you for the reply. I knew the 7 ** was more open. My doubt was in the difference in sound and the ease of sound emission on this type of mouthpiece. Which is preferable of the two? I thank you

  • @isaiahd9947
    @isaiahd9947 2 роки тому

    imo you on the robusto did not sound very close to Gene Ammonds. Sounded great in it's own right but it didn't sound like person you were trying to mimic but the other two were closer.

  • @59trader43
    @59trader43 4 роки тому

    The playing was good ,I listened to left and right speakers and I don't think they sound much like ,Ammons,Mobley potter .you worked on the phrasing which is great but really not even close sound wise your sound is your sound ,no mouthpiece is going to change it that much , mouthpiece is so you can get a good sound and feel comfortable ,hope you get my point.good effort but this is just marketing ,I find it misleading.

    • @SaxSpy
      @SaxSpy  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your input. What's misleading? Everything was put out there to decide for yourself and come to your own conclusion and it doesn't seem like that was hindered.

    • @59trader43
      @59trader43 4 роки тому +5

      @@SaxSpy you did a marvalous job.i should have explained better .I think makers putting masters names on the mpc is misleading some players to think they can get the same sound as say Gene Ammons .the reason you sound close is because you have practiced the hell out of your horns and know the history a big kudos for that but i don't think the mpc is making much difference its 95-100% all you ,hope that makes better sense.Thanks again for the otherwise Great Demo
