I have been admiring your set up for YEARS now! Your deer videos always help to heal my soul. There is so much overwhelming loving energy and vibrations held within the video of that moment in time shared between the mama deer's and Mama. Pretty sure your home and land is ON earth heart chakra! Thank you for being YOU and for loving on all animals the way you do.

I feed deer in my neighborhood a bunch of them know me and trust me enough that they’ll come up to me expecting a treat apples 🍎 peanuts 🥜 or carrots 🥕 I’ve never really been able to touch any of them one doe was particularly close to me within arms distance but I never pushed the package being able to get great photos and videos was my reward plus I love them

@donnabrown4349 so very true.. my deer family loves to snooze & sleep as I stand or sit in overwatch of them, this week I visited them briefly before finishing errands, when i said i had to go, but would be back, the matriarch went from luvie luv expression to wide eyed, "YOU'RE LEAVING??!! HOW CAN YOU !!"
I SWEAR she guilt tripped me, but I know she likes our quiet time together, like a lap cat..

I went out to the forest a last weekend and a few of the mule deer I saw were also about to fawn.
I even saw a yearling growing his first set of antlers
    Deer are amazing

Always love this channels videos, so peaceful. The deers Coats look like they need a good brushing. I wonder how the deer would respond to their coats being brushed with a horse brush or something.

We've tried to brush a lot of deer. Most of them don't like it, but I think they are more afraid of the "strange" brush than the feeling of being brushed. One exception was our very close deer friend, Eva. She loved to get brushed. ua-cam.com/video/wPbjvsM9WnQ/v-deo.html

*I give my family deer a Himalayan Salt block, they get good minerals along with the necessary sodium during the lush season, & it's a good source of iodine for immune health. My deer have excellent food available, peaceful environs, and a person who likes to make leaf beds & cooling beds of topsoil..they prefer the generic woody cheap stuff from Walmart ..$2 & blissful cool rest!😄👍

Every year deer get a thick winter coat to keep warm, and in the spring (and sometimes into the summer depending on the weather) they shed their coat.
What you see on these deer is little patches of their winter coat left over, making them look shaggy, its perfectly normal ^^

The one deer licking the salt block looked like he has a hole next to his eye, is there a story behind that?

They might be mineral and/or salt blocks, at least it looks just like the ones I put out back of my house for the deer.

That's the preorbital gland that opens when they are excited. Most of the time it's closed, and you only see a dark line. Here's the Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preorbital_gland

Where is this and ps those deer are going to get killed if y’all would stop 🛑 feeding them they would actually be more wild but instead y’all made them your pets and there going to walk up to a hunter and one of them bucks are going to get shot

Thanks for your concern, but we don't feed the deer. This is their neighborhood that humans invaded some 40 years ago. The humans decided to help the deer maintain their home by not bothering them as much as possible. For example, it is illegal to hunt our deer.
As for hunters killing our deer, Yes. Some people are thinking that. It is illegal to hunt our deer because they live in what is now a residential area. Because we have a lot of predators, the deer population is in check, unlike in many other parts of the world where hunters actually have to hunt in urban areas to keep the population down. Deer are incredibly intelligent when it comes to humans, except that all deer are individuals, and some deer are smarter than others. All of our deer are very afraid of strangers, and will run away from people they don't know. We are vegetarians, which we suspect may be one reason the deer don't fear us. Their sense of smell is extraordinary. However, we have nothing against hunters. Humans have been hunting deer for thousands of years. What strikes us as somewhat strange is people claiming we are harming the deer if they were to become less afraid of humans. It seems to us that all that would happen is that some lees intelligent deer would end up as someone's dinner. If you are a deer hunter and you hunt to feed your family, I would think that an easier catch would be appreciated. If, however, you hunt for sport, then fine. Go hunt somewhere where it is legal and where a deer habitat was not invaded and occupied by us humans. Most of my neighbors hunt, and yet they love that we have friendly deer walking around the neighborhood, grazing on everyone's lawns.

2:44 - What is that hole in near his eye?

    • @PelorianPages
      @PelorianPages  2 роки тому

Good question! Here's the technical answer: "The preorbital gland is a paired exocrine gland found in many species of hoofed animals, which is homologous to the lacrimal gland found in humans. These glands are trenchlike slits of dark blue to black, nearly bare skin extending from the medial canthus of each eye."
You can see it much more clearly in this video we made: ua-cam.com/video/zhUArbDVTp0/v-deo.html
It seems like the gland opens when the deer is happy with me scratching. Not sure why.
