I'm 59. About a year ago, even though i could kinda do some pushups, i started doing knee pushups and really concentrating on form. After i was comfy doing 25 or so, i took the plunge to doing real ones. Started with sets of 7 peppered throughout the day. After a year, I'm up to five sets of 20. It feels great and I'm looking better to boot. Money in the bank 🎉❤

Dear Matt, I have weak wrists and when I do my pushups, I clench my hand into a fist and push up on my knuckles mainly. I do not feel any pain doing it this way. Is this a safe way to do this exercise? Also, I value every video you make and it is fun as well with Mr.Bony's voice. Your children have got such amazing parents who teach them to look after their bodies at such an early age to avoid problems later down the track. Well done and you are a very caring and professional teacher.

I have had weak wrists all my life but I worked with it later from repetitive movement I ended up with wrist surgery so push ups are brutal what I do is wall push-ups to start and then I do bureau push ups so I can actually keep my wrists straight with grabbing the bureau and then I just angle my body as deep as possible. I also have hand bars (very much like the dumbbells) for the floor where I can keep wrists straight. Personally if I try to do any flat wrists loading I get pretty much crippled even from the most minimum bend severe for weeks. So I totally think you should work on it like he says but in the event that anyone just can't starting with wall push ups or bureau I get pretty strong it's all about the angle. I really appreciate this video a lot because no one talks about this.

I want to add my deepest condolences on the death of your dad. Falling and being unable to get up must have been so scary for him and you. Sharing that here must be hard. I want to thank you for noting what can happen if we get deconditioned and weak. My dad just had his first experience like that, and it is hard for him to understand the bigger picture.

I like the simplicity of those wrist stretches. I hurt my wrists through yoga arm stands and push ups. I don’t do the arm stands any more. I use push up handles if I do push-ups. I will do those stretches and do more push-ups.

I used to have that pain in my wrists from time to time. That’s why I always warm up first. Doing something simmilar to what you are showing.
Now I’m in better shape in my mid 30s than I was in my mid 20s ☺️
Not being so heavy anymore, also helps avoiding pain.
Always start with what you can do. Not what you can’t do.

I am in my mid 60s. About a decade ago my wrists were really painful. Yoga was excruciating n I took to wearing wrist supports. Then I was shown how do stretch them, working on my forearm muscles, passive movement of each wrist. As a massage therapist my forearms still jam up occasionally but met exercises n stretches help. After shoulder injury I find push ups still tricky but working towards it

Years ago I only had pain in my right wrist. Unfortunately I now have pain in both wrists. I suspect I'm hyper mobile and after doing a lot of yoga for a year both wrists hurt all night and in the morning. Can't do push ups without pain anymore, hoping this video will help

Matt! Is there an exercise to build up the muscles along the Spine and Back muscles? Mine are Locked up. It hurts to simply walk, it's large muscles that seem to attach to the back of my pelvis. They Move as I walk. 🤔

Matt, hi! I played football as a child and fell on wrist, I suffered for 2-3 months, after which I noticed that little bone(looks like sphere) began to stick out. Further in life, this did not bother me much, I did push-ups 50 times per approach, the wrist did not bother me. But once I did a bench press of 100 kg and felt a terrible tingling in this place, after I saw the place near the thumb was swollen. And since that time, my hand has been chronically sore if I do any exercises on wrist. Push-ups are especially hard.
Sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker🙌.

First noticed weak wrists in my forties doing Pilates. My wrists were always flexible but maybe weak? Wasn’t on a computer all day to explain away the issue either (iPhone didn’t exist). Started to avoid movements that aggravated wrists - always thought maybe my wrists couldn’t support my weight even though my weight was in normal range. Couldn’t solve it. Developed Haggis Rigidus (pain and stiffness at base of big toe) and prone positions that bend toes backwards are excruciating. Now I do countertop push ups …

My wrists are plenty flexible; maybe too flexible? But load weight through them--even if they are straight (dumbbells, fists)-and, after a bit, I've triggered some months' of wrist pain. With occasional slight puffiness, warmth, and redness. It goes away with rest (I know, not your favorite thing). Till I overdo it again. Down dog once a week for a month can = overdoing it. This has been going on for a couple of decades now. (Still, I only have about 1% of what my mother had.) Been doing tiny exercises with tiny weights, many reps, hoping to add some specifically wrist muscles without waking up the beast. Usefulness of this new strategy unclear at present.

Will this help if I have a gangolian cyst that comes and goes? Sometimes after pushup/chest day it’ll be back and popping out of my wrist sometimes it goes down but now currently it pops out but doesn’t hurt? Thanks for help

Hey Matt, another great video. Boney’s getting in some shots, eh? My question. How many push-ups should a person be able to do to be generally healthy? 1? 20? 100? I know every person and life situation are unique but what’s a good rule of thumb, in your opinion. I don’t do pushups regularly. A year ago I kinda struggled through one. A week ago I did 5. For a senior who does do any sport I thought 5 was okay but I’d like to be able to knock out 20 if I had to.

Dear Matt, I have a question I’d be so glad if you could answer. I’m 22, can I reverse my forward head posture? I’m all in. I haven’t had any injury. I just have been dealing with emotional issues and gave up on my surfing/yoga practice! I would spent 10-14 hours a day on my phone for 2 years straight. I heard that it’s possible to fix posture before I’m 24, is this true? Thank you so much. I’m working to reverse this everyday, never loosing sight of it. I just want my surfing and yoga life back!

That's not my case. I'm 63 yes. And at 45 I had my left thumb surgery for arthritis and my left wrist fused. My right thumb now has thr same arthritis, checked at age 57. I didn't get surgery with that wrist. Thatwrist actually doesn't hurt. I lift light weight dumbbells. But the push-up is tough on the left wrist.

Yeah I cant even bend my wrists to 45 degrees without the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I've fixed almost my entire body with ATM, but I'm starting to think I actually do need to go to a doctor here. It just feels like something is wrong beyond the typical aches from lack of use. I am 24 and I can't even lift a frying pan because it hurts so bad. Slowly got worse and worse for years until now I feel like a cripple even though the rest of my body is wonderful.
