Oh my gosh. I made this today for a friend's birthday and it turned out so cute. She's a vegan so, instead of using any leather, I used strips from a different pair of jeans, strips of material and macramé string with little pony beads. For anyone who's thinking about making this, it's super easy and absolutely adorable. I haven't sewn as much as a button on in decades, but I got out an old old old machine and got to work. I would watch each step of the video, pause it and then do that exact same step. I also wrote it down so I could replicate it on more bags. I live in a small town and have an antique shop and lots of vintage clothes and jewelry, so I'm all set. I'm also a first responder and will be making some for my EMT "sisters" for Christmas. You could just attach a old bags handle with clips on the belt loops for a crossbody bag.
