      But it's more fun cramming a Bridgeport, brown sharp surface grinder and Smitty in a two car garage that you purchased used and are 60 years old. Something about them is great, just as good as the cnc if not better

    That stone with wd-40 in the begining gives variances in the plane of your fixture of half or quarter a tenth over a few times and if done ever time those tenths add up

      Seems like a nightmare to deal with when a tool breaks in one, or if you’re running large production runs with tough/hard materials and need to change the tooling out a lot.

    • @gratshor
      @gratshor 7 місяців тому +2

      @@glennc7433 Agree. Broken tool (near the clamping zone) in a "shrink clamp" tool-holder will sometimes sends it to a "scrap shelf".
      And tool wear in mass-production or hard/abrasive material machining can be solved with multi-step (2 to 4 or even 6 steps) machining: 1 roughing(with tool wear correction), 2 semi-roughing(also with TWC), 3 semi-finishing, 4 finishing, 5 additional precision finishing. Steps 2, 3, 5 - optional.
