    Hey Robert! -- First I want to say thank you for the material over the years. It has been very helpful. I've worked in business banking/small commercial on both the credit and RM side for a total of about 7 years now -- usually client exposures of $1 to $5MM or annual sales of roughly $2-15MM.
    My question would be is this guide more catered to C&I or CRE? I'm in the process of moving to a large city where I'm told it is primarily CRE lending that takes place -- whereas I'm used to like 80% C&I. Looking to move up a segment into larger commercial/lower mid market and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

      Great question, this guide is suited for entry level candidates breaking into commercial lending either small business or mid-marketing lending. With your experience I would say the guide is a good practice guide for the qualitative questions and case studies but you probably will have learned most of the basic underwriting skills on the job over the 7 years. So short answer, some of it would be relevant, some of it will be repeat of what you are already doing. Good luck with your move!

    Hi, I really like your way of teaching.
    Do you have a community or way I can contact you to help me find solutions/way to approach a set of questions from a past paper? I understand some theory but find it difficult to apply.
    If anyone else can help also I'd appreciate it

    Hey, sorry to ask such a blunt question but what are the most lucrative roles/paths within commercial banking? I’ve just started my scheme and I’m super curious to know.
    I’m based in London and there’s a lot of hype around financial sponsors (dealing with private equity firms) & growth capital (riskier loans).
    There’s also Fx, invoice finance, trade and supplier finance and so many other arms. I love finance but financial compensation motivates me a lot

      Good question, I would say larger corporate banking groups + private credit are the more lucrative assuming you are good and can bring in business and sell. Look where most people are going, the more competitive (ie. the harder to break in = the more earnings potential). The smaller middle market and small business divisions are not as high earning but are less competitive.

    Hi robert, is this also helpful for a corporate finance interview? im wonderting he commercial banking is similar with corporate finace or not?

    • @financekid3163
      @financekid3163  7 місяців тому

      Hi, I would say its less relevant for an investment banking interview, the guide is ideally suited for people going into the lending world (ideally focused on business lending). Good luck with your interview!

    Hey! What would you say are the best sectors to work in for commercial banking? In regards to opportunities to bring in business and generate income.
    I feel like technology could be a good sector

    • @financekid3163
      @financekid3163  3 місяці тому +1

      Oh yeah, the top sectors would be Tech, real estate and private equity sponsor coverage groups, the knowledge and relationships you build can be very transferrable to your next career steps.
