Hinduism is more of a Way-of-Life teachings than a typical "religion" label.

      @@freakboostez6971 *_Why I'm Hindu?_*
I'm a Hindu because it is one of most free religions of the world (I could say the only religion, a perspective) as it gives me the maximum freedom on almost everything. I'm a Hindu when I am not following any God, I am Hindu when I am following multiple gods, I am a Hindu when I am following one God, and what not.
There is no limit in defining what Hinduism is, it is the tradition which allows me to dance in ecstasy, get ultimate experience of joy in the music (Nada Yoga), realise the self worth, know ownself. It provides me the ultimate freedom in living as I want, at the same time teaching me to follow the ontological theory originally can be drawn from the laws of Karma. It teaches me that the learning has no boundaries, and makes me to be shameless in learning anything that can provide benefits to others/society. Liberalism in learning can be seen when Hinduism openly talks about Kamasutra (The science of sexuality).
The great science of consciousness and the mind donated to the world by Siddhartha (AKA Gotama Buddha) some of his teachings are yet to be proved by the modern sciences. There is more science in Hinduism than beliefs.
Hinduism is the most diverse religion in the world with respect to its followings, cultures, traditions and values etc. It incorporates the different cultures from north to south, from east to west and the centre. The best thing I love about Hinduism is that it doesn't want you to change anything inside you or what you follow and who you follow, you can be a Hindu even when you don't go to the temple or any religious places, no obligations but to be nice to everyone and to yourself, and the last to know yourself.

I found this video to be truly helpful. The way you broke each element down so thoroughly made it very easy to follow and made each topic clear and concise. Even when other major religions attempt something such as this, there are very often parts where narrators say, "You just have to rely on faith." For many people answers such as that simply aren't acceptable. After having so many Hindu misconceptions cleard up, and as a struggling Christian that has been having difficulty with blindly following a faith out of fear. I find myself drawn to the teachings of Hinduism. Many of the Hindu teachings go along with what I feel in my heart, yet contradict my Christian upbringing. I plan on looking into Hinduism further. Thank You.

46:38 "Stoner Metal Deities" You got me. I'm sold.
Joking aside, thank you for this video. I've been enjoying learning about Hinduism. I decend from Scottish, Scandanavian, and Irish Celtic peoples, and I believe Hinduism is perhaps the closest living relative to the Druidism my ancestors once practiced.
The one thing that dissuades me from many faiths, however, is the worship aspect. If we are all one and all as Brahma, God, Goddess, Shiva, the Universe, or whatever you may call it, then why treat it as something sperate from ourselves? Meditation, Prayer, and Yoga, or even one who achieves a meditative or spiritual state via Excercise, Music, etc. appear to all be paths to the same end. In the same way of thinking you could even say they are all the same activity in a sense.
Though perhaps this is just coming from my agnostic point of view.

      1. Congratulations on rediscovering your native culture, unfortunately the Abrahamics got to your ancestors and destroyed most of it but certainly, Hinduism has many similarities with all ancient indo European religions.
      2. I'm an agnostic hindu too, answering what you asked. Shiva, god, the supreme deity, is not us, rather we are a part created from it and our purpose is to unite into it and attain moksha.

What u asked is right. In hinduism, it is also said that if u want to find a God, it is within u. U just have to see beyond the maya. And yoga and meditation are a part to reach there. But, every soul is on its own journey of finding the truth and the surrounding situations play a huge part in what path he/she is going to take. From here these various other traditions arose. But, all paths r right.

you are not different than God, you have to awaken urself and resonate with the vibration of the higher energy in order to merge into the cosmos of the creator, and unless u do that u will keep having rebirths. creator in hinduism is adi shakti or adi parashakti or etc (ppl give different names to her) - she is basically nature or the cosmos herself and creation and destruction is inevitable, even the god's incarnation cannot escape it, that is the concept.

Thank you for the concise video. As a Christian, one Christian I have is in regard to the non dogmatic nature of hinduism. To me it seems a little reletavistic. Certainly Hindus believe falsehood can exist, yet all genuine religions can lead to God. But how do you determine which religion is genuine? It seems like if someone sincerely believes what they are doing glorifies God, you can tell them they're alright. But if people make a mistake about God (say they say He's not all pervasive), wouldn't it be important to tell them that they are mistaken to help them evolve? Might there be other things about God that we believe which are wrong enough to distort our understanding of Him?

We don't believe that God is cruel and will punish you just because you believed in Monotheism when it was Pantheism and vice versa. Hinduism itself isn't a religion, it's a family of religions centred around core values which other Dharmic faiths like Buddhism share. Buddhism doesn't believe in the soul unlike Hinduism though.
Correct, we believe in right and wrong and the laws of Karma. The Church told Galileo he was wrong when he said the Earth revolves around the Sun but fast forward a few centuries and what do you know?

@@anonymousanonymous2319 @Anonymous Anonymous idk what galileo has to do with this conversation.
I know you don't believe God will punish me for believing in a different religion. I don't think God punishes people just cause they aren't Christian, but if they heard about Christianity and rejected it knowing it was right, then they would be punished for unbelief.
But to say you don't need to believe in any of the Hindu religions seems to me to undermine it's validity or make it kind irrelevant. How would you respond to that?

    • @anonymousanonymous2319
      @anonymousanonymous2319 2 роки тому

@@1JAMINben but it doesn't make sense for the people who lived before 2000 years ago, how were they supposed to predict the coming of Christ? Also Christ never objectively claimed to be God, he called to God and prayed.
Christians don't follow the old testament anyway. It says the flesh of swine is unclean but they eat pork. It says wine is a mocker but Christians drink alcohol (and get drunk)
The Bible says that 'God made two great lights', the moon is NOT a light. It is a reflection of sunlight so if we reject Christianity for going against science and logic eg rejecting evolution, the moon having light, Christ being God, prosecuting Galileo for proposing heliocentricism then I don't think God can possibly punish non-Christians given the hypocrisy and inconsistency.
Hinduism doesn't require you to know about Christ or Muhammad etc. it doesn't require the knowledge of a certain person at a certain time. It is applicable universally and eternally. Hinduism is a colonial term referring to indian faiths under an umbrella term. The proper term is Sanatana Dharma which is a way of life. Every faith has principles and even many faiths eg aboriginals or Buddhism or Shintoism etc. have similar beliefs

However, some recent events have shown that Hindus are not always so tolerant as all that. A beautiful, slightly whimsical poster to advertise a performance documentary with the goddess Kaali taking a puff on a cigarette became a national news story in India. The director has received thousands of threats of rape and death. Some have laid legal complaints that she has offended religious sentiments (whatever those are), and several police complaints have been made.

So all other religions had copied or influenced Sansthan Dharma Shastra Scriptures... The European and Mugals came here to India and stolen and destroyed many of scriptures and rewritten in their way.. In nut shell, whereas Sanathana Dharma is an Ocean of Sandal oil, other semiti religions are a small tank of water...

I'm not quite sure I understand the concept of the Supreme God in Hinduism, so if someone could clarify I'd appreciate it.
If different branches worship a different deity as the supreme god (or aspect of said god) how can you say that they agree on who this supreme god is? How can you say for sure that the different branches don't have different supreme gods or aren't in fact polytheistic? (which I don't see as negative term at all). India has faced hundreds of years of invasion and occupation by Muslims and Christians, my impression is that the concept of a unified Hindu supreme god worshipped under different aspects could be a recent evolution and a way to define it in a way more acceptable to Muslims or Christians. Could this concept be a concession to the dominance of Islam and Christianity in much of the world and unify diverse but similar beliefs across South Asia? Similarly, while Hinduism is ancient, how old is the concept that these beliefs belong under the shared umbrella of Hinduism? Surely some kind of common literature or state intervention is needed to create a consensus on what qualifies for beliefs and practices of a religion, so when did this happen for Hinduism? Or is this a relatively recent way of grouping ancient religions with a shared cultural heritage across the region when surrounded by the more monolithic Abrahamic religions and other Indian religions (Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism etc)?
I'm genuinely curious so if someone could explain or point me to a source for further reading on these points I'd really appreciate it. My interest is more cultural and historic than specifically religious, as the speaker said, all the other great ancient religions haven't survived, so Hinduism to be is one of the most fascinating religions in the world.

Actually the uniqueness of god is not a recent invention. It is mentioned in upanishads which are 500 B.C written. So, strike that off.
Let me demonstrate on with one example. Suppose you have water, water in the ocean, water in the pond, water in the sky and water in your hand. Can you find the similarity that pervades each of it? Can you also find the differences in each of them ?
if you have answer for this, you have already have an answer. Everybody knows god is one, but their comprehension levels always redirect them to the form that is always closest and most accessible to them. They accept it as a reality and take it, just like how you take the water in your hands to drink/examine. It is not about reaching for what is out there, it is what comes to you.

@@sheshankjoshi Thank you for your reply, it was very informative. I've read some interesting articles since I asked the question.
They agreed with what you said, but also pointed out that sometimes Hindus today are sometimes too keen to draw similarities to monotheism when relating it to followers of strictly monotheistic faiths because of the dominance and presumed superiority of monotheism. The articles argued against this as reductive of what Hinduism is, including the elements you pointed, which are not elements of the other major world religions. Thanks again for answering!

      @@antiochus87 very good question(s)
I agree that Hindus can be polytheists in theory but I think because many Gods and Goddesses appear in the spectrum of Hinduism, people assume we are all polytheists which is completely incorrect. It's like saying that Christianity is polytheistic because they have the father, son and Holy spirit whereas they are all 3 in 1 but for Muslims and Jews it's just one. For Hindus, it can be 1 in 1, 3 in 1, 33 in one etc and also the view on the one may be different even the numbers above are the same eg a Hindu could be a Vaishnavite (1 to 1) or a Shaivite (1 to 1) ie as the supreme creator with lower subjects etc.
Hinduism is very diverse so it's not easy to get an answer but at the end of the day, God is how we relate to God. I hope this answers your question

Hanuman Swami, the incarnation of that Lord, was also a person who could fly and make his body so big and small so there are no words to describe the true Lord's ability ??? !!! (Sanatana Dharma and Advaita Siddhanta believe in one God and all other incarnations.) Such facts are not found in other religions !!! Didn't the ancestors of Alexander, the Mughals and later the English destroyed the great culture, science and art literature here, stolen them, rewrite it and write in their name !!! Isn't it true that all the Semitic religions on this earth have copied this Sanatana Dharma culture !!! There is no any other epics like Mahabharata & Ramayan, in the world!!!Why are these invaders, the Western World bandits, the ones who destroyed Sanskrit, the greatest and most magnificent language of the world, and killed this great Sanatana Dharma itself !!! Didn't these Mughals try to destroy the culture of the place by building mosques at Ayodhya in the birthplace of Lord Rama and Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna !!! The great Bhavadgeeta kept and read daily by Nicola Tesla and Albert Einstein, etc., the most intelligent scientists in the modern world. I believe that the greatest birth on this earth belongs to the Hindu who is born on this Indian earth and the greatest birth on it is the Brahman birth because my Dharma teaches me that Tattvamasia means that the Supreme Spirit is present in all living beings on this earth !!! Matthew 4:17 God loves and blesses you!✝✝✝ Turn away from these evil things and turn and seek Jesus Christ for hope, love, and peace! This is not the truth of eternal light, the truth is Jesus Christ for eternal light and life, hope, love, peace, salvation, and the answer to getting to Heaven!✝✝✝ God loved us so much that he sent his one and only son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so that one day we can see God in heaven and go to heaven! *_Why I'm Hindu?_*

You were raised in biblical ignorance then. The God of the bible is Jesus Christ. Though there's more to it than that, Jesus is as perfect a representation of what God is actually like as we can possibly understand. He became human to show us what He is really like and we hated Him and killed the crap out of Him. He should be afraid of us. But He loves us. Who could possibly be more approachable than one who lets His creation kill Him and doesn't even fight back and still loves the ones who are killing Him? What more could He possibly do to be approachable?
The views of Christianity that the vast majority of people have are 100% shallow presuppositions. Strawmen created by critics which have been woven into the general education of society. Pretend for a second that Satan is real. Doesn't it seem to anyone that he is doing a great job of keeping people away from Jesus through mountains of bad P.R.? Satan is incredibly intelligent.

Just some of the problems I have (a former Hindu) with Hinduism:.
      1. In reading the Vedas they don't mention later gods such as Shiva, Ganesh etc..why not?
      2. Many gods were obviously myths, Shiva, Ganesh Hanuman..no such thing as anthropomorphic "gods"... The God who created this vast universe obviously does not look like a human or animal and is likely invisible to human eyes
      3. The Upanishads (Vedanta) reads way too much into the Vedas that wasnt there to begin with.. (the Rig Veda esp. are only stories of how the Aryan gods "helped" them nothing more)
      4. The Puranas story of "gods" were still being written a little over 1000 years ago...why so recent?
      5. The Puranas are inconsistent between each other and within each one
      6. The caste system is the worlds oldest form of apartheid (established by the conquering Aryans) --millions have suffered under it
7.There is absolutely no unified teaching of Hinduism nor unified body of direction...you can just about believe whatever you want and be a "Hindu"..
8.There is no unified, nor believable account of Creation...in the 10th mandala of the oldest book the Vedas it acknowledges that no one knows who or how all this is was created...
9.There is very little or no moral instruction by hindu priests...they are only used for and paid for (sometimes exorbitantly) ceremonies and useless mantras and "spells"
10.The doctrine of Samsar (reincarnation) makes no sense..why would God (gods) institute a process where you could not learn from your mistakes from a "past life"...
11.There are too many religious books and inconsistencies thruout each one- shows a vivid imagination by the rishis..
These are just some of the problems with Hinduism...there are more....
btw..I love my culture....but I have a real problem with the "truth" of Hinduism....

    15) You believe in one God or Supreme Energy. Superb! Follow Advaita philosophy
    16) You want a Guru. Go ahead. Receive gyaan(knowledge).
    17) You don't want a Guru.. Help yourself ! Meditate, Study !
    18) You believe in Female energy ! Shakti is worshipped.
    19) You believe that every human being is equal. Yeah! You're awesome, come on let's celebrate Hinduism! "Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" (the world is a family)
    20) You don't have time to celebrate the festival.
Don't worry. One more festival is coming! There are multiple festivals every single day of the year.
    21) You are a working person. Don't have time for religion. Its okay. You will still be a Hindu.
    22) You like to go to temples. Devotion is loved.
    23) You don't like to go to temples - no problem. You are still a Hindu!
    24) You know that Hinduism is a way of life, with considerable freedom.
    25) You believe that everything has God in it. So you worship your mother, father, guru, tree, River, Prani-matra, Earth, Universe!
    26) And If you don't believe that everything has GOD in it - No problems. Respect your viewpoint.
    27) "Sarve jana sukhino bhavantu " (May you all live happily)
This is exactly the essence of Hinduism, all inclusive .. That is why it has withstood the test of time inspite of repeated onslaught both from within and outside, and assimilated every good aspects from everything . That is why it is eternal !!!.

These people worship cows, rats and all sorts. I could tell you are a Hindu that loves Islam rather then the other way around 😏
