@@GIGABACHI I dont know lol. Like i see naked bikes as light nimble bikes so why buy a big heavy one?. Its said that the street will beat the speed around a track 80% of the time and will be better suited for the road... so then you're left with... whats the point of the speed?, motorway with someone on the back? but then why not get a tiger.
It just seems to me as a rather pointless bike, put fairers on it and thats another story but as is its just a bike for looks and by god does it have the looks but i wouldnt buy a bike for looks alone, it has to make sense to me.

@@EskiLdn It's more about the instant torque, horse power is just the added bonus. It's also a little more relaxed for hwy use. I have a 1190 adventure which is not far off the 1290 superduke in terms of power and torque but I would love something smaller for around town but I just love twisting the throttle at any speed in any gear and getting instant kick. I also have a 2011 fireblade but that doesn't provide the same around town torque as the vtwin 1190 so it's not as fun... Now a 1000cc superbike makes zero sense on the street, unless you ride it to the track but even on the track most people will be quicker on a 600cc..

I rode a street triple r for 5 years, year round. I like my speed triple rs because it's much more comfortable for me, and it just feels much more planted than my street triple did. But my street triple r didnt have ohlins and brembo in the front. Dont be fooled, the speed triple is fast as hell.

The bike has different ABS and TC levels. It's not just On and Off.
To be more precise it has 3 ABS settings:
    - Road (max ABS)
    - Track (available only on the RS model)
    - Off
    and 4 Traction Control settings:
    - Rain
    - Road
    - Track (only on the RS)
    - Off
Each riding mode has a different combination of Throttle Response (MAP), TC and ABS. You can modify the preset riding modes or you can create a new combination of MAP/TC/ABS using the Rider Mode (e.g. you can select the sport map, turn the ABS off and set the TC on Rain).
All the configurations and settings can be found at pg 38 of the english owner's handbook.

@jeff deathrage And I suppose you know that they use traction and wheelie control in WorldSBK, STK1000 and MotoGP as well, right..? But they are all a bunch of pussies, of course....
I usually ear this kind of anti-electronics complaints from very old riders or very young ones, but you are, obviously, entitled to have your opinion.
Anyway....the bike allows you to disable every electronic aid, if you like so.

Got mine about a 11 months ago, unfortunately have only done 2,000 miles due to ill health. I agree with the review apart from the complaint about the seat, which I have found comfortable. I replaced the tyres very quickly for Michelin Road 5's, which for me transformed the bike. I did not like the Supercorsa's at all. They would maybe be OK if you are only a fair weather rider and/or want to take it on the track. Which I am not.
I got some upgrades done to mine which cost about another £1,000 if I recall correctly:
    Evotech tail tidy
Front screen( provides a little more wind protection)
    LED indicators front and back
    Crash Bobbins
Quickshifter( essential to get the most out of the bike)
Tracker - this type of bike will be very attractive to scumbag thieves
Brilliant bike, that triple engine just sounds amazing and has more than enough power for the road. Only thing I would change is the colour.........I would get the white instead of the matt black as it marks very easily.

One thing Triumph has gotten good at is keeping a model's personality intact over the years. Improved in nearly every area, this Speed still has the essential character of my '09. I still marvel at the engine's flexibility, the power, the noise it makes and how frugal it can actually be. And, from all accounts, it's pretty bulletproof, and hasn't given me any problems. With Michelin 5s (yeah, transformational), it's a blast in the mountains. I'm about to get another bike, but I'm keeping this one. Too much fun. If I was looking for another big naked, though, this would be on the top of my list.

I owned this bike for 1,5 weeks before I unfortunately hit a deer on the road and totaled the bike. In that time I had put around 1000 km on it and I can say it was the best bike I've ever owned. The power was everywhere, it was comfortable to ride, it looked beautiful, the quick shifter worked great, the TFT dash was the best looking and most practical I've seen in a bike and on top of that, it was quite fuel efficient. Riding in a highway at 100km/h with cruise control, the fuel consumption was around 4 litres per 100km (= 58 mpg). Ride modes were great, with sport mode giving you instant throttle response and rain mode giving a super soft response for when I just wanted to cruise around town peacefully.

As much as I hate Triumph for not tossing that old Dinosaur 1050 in the dumpster and not starting from scratch with a clean sheet of paper engine design . . . I have to applaud them for stretching it's life cycle to the Euro4 limits and probably 5 too.

The Speed Triple is so beautiful and it seems to be a fantastic bike. I drove the 2013 Model for 5 years, now i own a BMW S 1000 R since 2 years.
The BMW is an absolute great bike, but i've seen these days a new black Speed Triple RS and i thought: yes, this bike is the most beautiful
naked bike you can get. And my experience with my Speedy was, that i love it. I love this motor and the ergonomy extremly.
What i missed, if i compare the BMW and my old Triumph, is, that the motor is a little bit sluggish. OK, no wonder - my Speedy had the old motor.
I think, now the motor is much better than the motor of my 2013 speedy - and i mean not only the power, also the characteristic.
Should i go back to Triumph? What is your recommendation? And many thanks for your great Video!
    Many greetings from Germany.

Nice review. Replaced my 2008 Speed Triple with an RS beginning of July and still running in at 350 miles but I luuuuvvvvv it. The engine promises sooo much (even just revving to 6000rpm). Out in the rain yesterday so treated the supercorsa's with respect, great in the dry mind. Looking at Rosso Corsa III's or Metzeler M7 to replace. Its just a great bike to ride and a lovely quality product to look at.

You can assign different levels of traction control to each rider mode. Unless you're completely turning off ABS and TC, you don't even have to stop the bike. Just select a different mode and close the throttle for a second.

The Press would probably murder and crucify it even before it makes it out the factory's door for not making "at least 200BHP" like the other Litre Bikes. These are the times we live in now. 200BHP or no business case. 😞
