I think if Alyx tried to poison/kill Jaune then she probably killed her brother rather then trading him to the tree because she didn't trust her brother like she didn't trust Jaune. Trading with the tree may have not been a thing, the Cat I don't think was lying to them just not being totally up front with them about everything and Jaune is misunderstanding something as he wasn't actually there to see what happened and is accusing the Cat and the Tree as a result. Ruby most likely will. Because, remember a hunters weapon is apart of them an extension of them. But ruby no longer possess the parts of herself she had when she made creasent rose. She isn't naive little red riding hood anymore. It's no longer apart of who ruby is.
Ruby had that weapon made back when she was naive and living in a fairytale. I believe she'll take up her mother's weapon, to show she has matured and now understands what her mother was going through. The reality of being a huntress. Little Red Riding Hood was saved by the hunter in her story, the hunter wielded an axe. Ruby needs to make the journey from being Red Riding Hood to becoming a huntress, she needs to save herself, she's the only one who can.

I think I know what ruby is going to give up. Her weapon. After all a hunters weapon is basically apart of them only ruby no longer possess those parts of her that she had when she made her weapon.
Can we talk about the cat? When jaune was poisoned, during the scene transition, there was a silhouette of the cat’s eye watching as he collapsed. Evil vibes
While it's obvious the Curious Cat actions are driven by self-interest I believe it's more of amoral curiosity with human behavior than pure evil. Though they probably wouldn't care if Jaune lived or died.
I think Ruby has been trying to keep a brave face since the attack on Beacon and everything that has happened since volume 4. It seems like everything is starting to catch up to her.
I have a feeling Alyx had a similar experience to Ruby's. A realization they didn't want to face. Alyx realized that she probably wanted to stay in the Ever After, continue her fun and games. Then when it came down to the wire, Luis left her. I think Ruby will want the same, to forget who she was, Penny, her mother, Salem, everything. Then it''s up to everyone to help her and stop the ascension.
@@arkdragon222 Neo is certainly and interesting theory - I'd bet on her reasoning being either revenge related, or we see some character development for her. Personally? My money is on Little being the one to really snap her out of it, considering the 'blacksmith' called them Ruby's 'guide' and Little has been by Ruby's side throughout it all.
In a way, V9 Ruby is reminding me of Leonardo's character arc in the first half of Season 4 from the 2003 TMNT series. After The Turtles and Splinter's battle with Utrom Shredder at the end of Season 3, which they basically only won and survived by pure luck. Through-out the first half of Season 4, one major focus is How this effect Leo. He blamed himself for the family almost sacrificing themselves and develops PSTD. As each episode goes, we see a new Leo who starts acting bitter, reserved and isolated towards his friends and family and even more hostile in battles. Eventually this all comes to a head in the 14th episode, he gets angry during training with Splinter, he slashes at Splinter's head, wounding him. Hopefully Ruby doesn't fall down a similar dark path like Leo
I just have a mind blown theory what if Lewis didn’t actually die what if the jabberwalker is Lewis maybe that’s why he is killing those people to reform his physical body again because i remember what part of the jabberwalker said when he said he is searching and putting things together
Like I've said when chatting with others about V9. Ruby's more effected by this place then the others. and I think only jaune sees it. has me wondering if he'll trade himself to the tree, So they can return. Since he in the same dark state has ruby.
I ... think I finally understand this scene now, it's hitting me like a train. I suppose I've dissociated with it until now. I'm so happy that V9 went the direction that it did, it had to at some point to be perfect.
Ruby will change, but for the worse. I think Neo will be the one to break her. But what will Ruby do? Will she turn to the dark side? Will she kill someone after learning the truth? Or will she sacrifice herself for the tree?
If ascension is about becoming something else through sacrifice, would that mean Ruby could ask the tree to turn her into someone who could defeat Salem and the two brother gods in exchange for her current identity?
She definitely not wanted because she is like: "what is the point?" The thought of losing Penny and her mother dying without knowing to defeat Salem is making her mentally stress and making her less motivated to be a huntress again. Ruby is afraid to fail again like her mother and that is what she's thinking about. That's why she gave away her mother's emblem because she knows that she failed and herself would probably do as well. If Ruby founds out that Jaune killed Penny and Weiss didn't tell her, this would be the ultimate breaking point of Ruby and this would set her to want to give up for good. I can't believe RoosterTeeth is making RWBY this dark.
Before I had a good idea on how things would go. This one episode just threw a wrench in that. I still think their gonna pull a Disney Alice in wonderland thing having ruby fall into a deep slumber and wake up as someone else somewhere or something with her body still present then she wakes up to the gang. Maybe she becomes Alyx to view her story or something idk once they introduced time dilation in ever after things got more wonky. So many new questions and only 4 episodes left to answer them. Now that they’ve entered the final weird place before they go to the tree something BIG is around the corner.
Something tells me ruby wont want cresent rose back, also i kinda feel bad for the curious cat it sounds like he didnt want what happened to luis and felt betrayed by alyx leaving without him enough that the tree took him and erased his memories
Nah old man Jaune is going to burn the tree along with himself and RWBY and young Jaune will leave. They will intercept Jaune as he fell last and stop him touching the clock fruit.
I seen some theory and comments some volumes ago that team JNPR is all gonna die. They got pyra and probably gonna get jaune. I rather be wrong than right. I think Jaune will sacrifice himself to get them out of EverAfter.
@@roberto9094 Yeah, that's the vibe I'm getting as well. Which sucks because the guy is my favourite character and I feel like that would be a complete waste of potential that has yet to be fully realized.
@@DPSS927that’s actually the reason I disagree with them getting rid of Jaune because of the potential factor; he and team RWBY have much more plot beats to do story-wise compared to Neo. out of the 6 characters, at least 5 of them have more of an arc to complete.
I literally just had the same thought. One or both of them is going to have to be sacrificed to the tree and I worry it's Juane. It makes his character arc come full circle joining Pyrrah in some way and finally making a noble sacrifice of his own instead of watching helplessly or participating in someone else's his true "joan of arc" moment and I'm not sure how I feel about that. As for Neo I get the feeling she either will too, or she'll stay and "rule" over the ever after in some fashion after she learns how Roman died and accepts it. It is Cinder's fault but even if everyone lives Neo really has no one else to go back to. If she learns he was just eaten and it wasn't Ruby's fault and tbh wasn't totally Cinder's either (CInder just double crossed her) and she knows she can't quite defeat her, will she just give up and stay there and become a part of that world too? It's the first place where she's ever had this much control in her life. And she lost the one reason for her to want to go back
Maybe someone put a curse on Cresent rose to get the person who welds it a curse or something and jaune didn't feel anything since he doesn't weld Cresent rose
At the end of the episode the cat says " Ruby, Rose, Huntress" my thoughts are that Ruby may be the Ascended Summer Rose and Ruby is just the new persona.
Ever since the show first reveal how Summer Rose looked like, their startling similar looks made me theorise that mother and daughter could be some sort of "clones". Salem is also very enigmatic in not revealing what happened to Summer Rose. She of all people would know, since she is immortal and has walked Remnant for all its history. Perhaps Salem knows that Summer / Ruby are the same person somehow. Then, in this season, the red king and prince turned out to be the same person, but repurposed. The season seems to be hinting that Ruby will undergo a transformation. Ruby is slowly shedding her Ruby identity as the season progresses. I wouldn't be surprised if she ascends and takes on the Summer Rose persona at the end of the season.
Maybe she is thinking about revenge on Neo? Maybe seeing crescent rose triggered her remembering that Cinder was able ruin most of their plan and what happened to Penny was due to the fact that Neo provided Cinder with both the lamp and the name to summon the relics spirit
I feel like Ruby will offer to the tree his weapon in exchange to get out of this world. And she will also give offer her role as a huntress away and her silver eye. Just to get every out of this world.
Does anyone else gets the feeling she's going to trade in crescent rose to the tree in order to leave....because right after john told ruby how alex traded in her brother to go to the tree, she looked right at Crescent rose and closed the case as if she had and idea of trading it in ...... Aka she traded in her mother's promise without Hesitation while not being in the right state of mind so who knows what else she'll do at this point . that aside i feel so bad for her .
oh no.... I get the feeling if "Louis was sacrificed to the tree" then we may have at least one character who in't making it out when they do the same and I am now low-key worried it'll be juane
I kinda think it was the other way around. I think Lewis traded Alyx then wrote himself out and downgraded Alyx’s negative traits cause he felt guilty about what he did
But Jaune was there and remembers Alyx as the shallow mean one. Granted, she could have been the one traded and Lewis went back.. but why would he write the story with him out of it and her as such a normal girl?.
I like this theory. Especially since Jaune also said Lewis was the clever one. It would also make since why the rusted knight is written as a hero even though Alec didn't trust Jaune, because Lewis did. Lewis in the flash backs is pictured walking closer to Jaune and Alec being sus of both Jaune and Lewis. So it makes since Lewis writing his sister not being cruel and Jaune as the noble hero.
Ruby is going through I identity crisis maybe not sure all we know it’s not good. This keeps get worse and the symptoms keep increasing no it seems like she is acting kinda how Alice acted when she was at the herbalist.
I'm wondering, and this probably isn't the case, but what if lewis wasn't the one who died? What if it was Alex? From what we've seen, I don't think she would have been the book-ish type. There's not a lot to go off of here, but it's just some food for thought.
apparently there was a timeey wimey thing, he fell into the ever after before team RWBY, so while they have been there for say a few months, Jaune has been there for YEARS it's like the hyperbolic time chamber in Dragonball Z, on the inside it can be as slow as 1 day on the outside meaning 1 YEAR in the chamber. similar concept time is moving differently for both sides of the ''mirror'' to to speak, jaune fell in earlier, so he got a longer stay, hence the beard, voice drop and ponytail
I have a LOT to say against this chapter with how they handle tone shifts and etc, but the Ruby development and the way they are handling Jaune is something I'm really glad we're seeing
Sure glad you put Spoiler in the title. Whew just missed being spoiled..... Before replies I seen the episode already I'm mainly pointing out how stupid it is to put spoiler and in the same title spoil the scene.

Look we’re lucky ruby rose got crescent rose back and she is going to keep crease rose with her and find a way out of the ever after and she going to take to neo that she did not kill Roman torchwick
@@elijahpage7687 yeah
Please tell me she doesn’t abandon her weapon because that’s her trademark
Idk it would be kinda cool. To see her grow without her weapon being there beside her
No way she is keeping crescent rose and going to get out of the she just needs hope okay and to get her mom emblem back from the teapot lady
And if she does…… So what? She’ll still be ruby.
She's going to leave crescent rose in the ever after
Personal theory is this: After seeing this scene with Ruby not taking out her weapon, I think she is going to go to the Tree and sacrifice something to it for her friends to leave... Herself. Not wanting to follow in Alyx's footsteps anymore, she wants to prove to herself that she can save others... *No matter what.* So, she'll give herself to the Tree in exchange for her teammates, Jaune, and maybe even the Cat to leave for Remnant. Like a real hero does. Placing others before themselves.
Its the least she can do after making so many mistakes that got a kingdom to fall. Not because they helped, but because she didnt trust her allies hard enough.
Yeah... not gonna happen. She's the main character after all
@@alexstach8667 She also managed to be a complete hypocrite by declaring the season before 8 that they would never keep secrets and the next season she outright kept too many secrets that let itself out with the enemy providing the information and basically breaking the trust between both Ironwood and the group. Might be Salem's fault, but Ruby chose this action and she should live and die by it. Penny did.
I think I know what ruby is going to give up. Her weapon. After all a hunters weapon is basically apart of them only ruby no longer possess those parts of her that she had when she made her weapon.
That’ll be sad, but I think your right… I bet the next thing she gives up is her cape, then crescent rose last
@@jessieh0928 overall, If it happens I'm interested to see what weapon she'll make herself.
@@thenobody7509 it seems to be a theme each time they come across some sort of conflict. Ruby is leaving parts of herself behind.
This is reminding me of a thomas and friends fan story of a part of me stayed behind
@@jcam5 just like real cats lmao
By her looking directly at Crescent Rose, Ruby has a bizarre PTSD that looks like it's just getting worse and worse.
She’s slowly losing parts of herself that makes her Ruby Rose…
I think Ruby has been trying to keep a brave face since the attack on Beacon and everything that has happened since volume 4. It seems like everything is starting to catch up to her.
I have a feeling Alyx had a similar experience to Ruby's. A realization they didn't want to face. Alyx realized that she probably wanted to stay in the Ever After, continue her fun and games. Then when it came down to the wire, Luis left her. I think Ruby will want the same, to forget who she was, Penny, her mother, Salem, everything. Then it''s up to everyone to help her and stop the ascension.
i think neo stops it from happening.
I said the exact same thing omg 😆
So will our beloved Rose soil her hands with blood?
Do I want that - yes.
Can I bear to see it - no.

Hmm 2 are accurate but 1 I don't know
If ascension is about becoming something else through sacrifice, would that mean Ruby could ask the tree to turn her into someone who could defeat Salem and the two brother gods in exchange for her current identity?
Dont let the lesbian cat girl distract you from ruby.
Ruby becomes a monster like Alyx?
Ruby doesn't look too happy too see her weapon back
Story wise this rejection of Crescent Rose is a bigger development that other events in this episode.
Blake clapping and yangs AYE was so cute 😂
I feel like we still don't know the full story of what happened to Alyx and Lewis I have a suspicious feeling that it went the other way around
Death: Pick it up
You know what's really interesting: the author of Alice in Wonderland was Lewis Carrol.
Jaune is going to end up sacrificing himself to the tree so Team RWBY can get out, isn't he?
No more sacrifices
Probably feels like their setting up for something like that. Like I think Ruby will TRY to do it but she'll be stopped and it'll be Jaune.
Who says any such thing is needed? No one who actually knows anything has said anything about that.
I can't believe RoosterTeeth is making RWBY this dark.
please hope not
I wonder if I will be aca summer Maiden ruby in the following chapters.
no
Still hoping she finds a way to reforge Crescent Rose with Penny's Vapor Sword thing.
i was really hoping this volume would finally give Ruby a break. but I guess i was wrong. its only making things worse for her.
Why Ruby didn't take the Crescent Rose (her weapon)?
I'm a bit confused for this. 😢
Make Ruby super stronger than I ever dreamed of.
Could a certain witch that has not learned her lesson be traded to the tree?
If a sacrifice is needed to escape the Ever After, then I theorize somehow Neo will be the one who will end up as a sacrifice
Nah old man Jaune is going to burn the tree along with himself and RWBY and young Jaune will leave. They will intercept Jaune as he fell last and stop him touching the clock fruit.
@@Ask4This Disagree. Unfortunetly, I think Old Man Jaune is the Crwby's way of getting rid of Jaune.
I seen some theory and comments some volumes ago that team JNPR is all gonna die. They got pyra and probably gonna get jaune. I rather be wrong than right. I think Jaune will sacrifice himself to get them out of EverAfter.

Will we know how they are getting home now either neo dies and they go home or jaune does
I’m afraid that’s the case with Jaune since people have been saying he’s going to die this volume
@@wargegeson8063 I hope not. He doesn't deserve that even if he was forced to kill Penny.
And she lost the one reason for her to want to go back
So Jaune is totally dying this volume right.
i knew Jaune would have it.
Same
Even known i didn't think he had it at first
Yeah how is Crescent Rose undamaged? It will have fallen and hit the ground that the internal mechanism are probably damaged
With that same logic wouldn't of they all died from the fall as well? Magic fantasy land doesn't play by real world logic.

But Jaune had to. Weiss is only even alive because he did that.
God's our poor girl is losing it. She us somewhat like Jaune was throughout Vol 4 after Pyrrha...I hope something snaps her out of it soon!
So in the end jaune is doing the same thing Alex did when she gets home by not telling about of penny to team rwby
@@bangscutter they can't be clones, Summer gave birth to Ruby then she died after some years

Why was Ruby kinda mad at the end? Isn't she glad that she got her favorite weapon back?
Shes been though a lot these past 2 volumes (this one and volume 8) so she probably doesn't have hope or the energy to use crescent rose right now
Maybe she is thinking about revenge on Neo?

Either Jaune or Neo. He didn’t specify that Lewis was a willing sacrifice.
Both? Two lives in exchange for four?
@@1wayroad935 ooh, that could be interesting!
I kinda think it was the other way around. I think Lewis traded Alyx then wrote himself out and downgraded Alyx’s negative traits cause he felt guilty about what he did

@@shawnwarrynn8609 like Jaune said, he doesn’t know what happened, Lewis probably snapped or maybe he was trying to defend himself

@@thelink6756 like I said, maybe he felt guilty plus we don’t know the full story and neither does Jaune
What do you wanna bet that Juan sacrifices himself so the other ones could go home?

When are they gonna have someone notice her issues? It better be Yang, even tho she has Blake officially now!!
I'm wondering, and this probably isn't the case, but what if lewis wasn't the one who died? What if it was Alex? From what we've seen, I don't think she would have been the book-ish type. There's not a lot to go off of here, but it's just some food for thought.
It’s crazy to think this is the same Jaune who cheated into Beacon
maybe if yang stopped caring more about blake than her own sister ruby would be in a better mindspace.
.......haven't been paying attention to rwby for a while.....why does Jaune look like a dilf......
apparently there was a timeey wimey thing, he fell into the ever after before team RWBY, so while they have been there for say a few months, Jaune has been there for YEARS
it's like the hyperbolic time chamber in Dragonball Z, on the inside it can be as slow as 1 day on the outside meaning 1 YEAR in the chamber.

time is moving differently for both sides of the ''mirror'' to to speak, jaune fell in earlier, so he got a longer stay, hence the beard, voice drop and ponytail
you just got your weapon back and your still sad can you just be happy about something for one's in this season
I have a LOT to say against this chapter with how they handle tone shifts and etc, but the Ruby development and the way they are handling Jaune is something I'm really glad we're seeing
