15 years after the Murid’s rose up in the Caucasus, Russia was still unable assert their rule in the region. Under their enigmatic leader, Imam Shamil, the Murids continued to harass the Tsar’s forces with their guerrilla warfare tactics. Despite repeated Russian victories, Imam Shamil was not discouraged. For him and his followers, this was a war to the death, where surrender was not an option. This perseverance would pay off; having bolstered his forces throughout the first half of the 1840s, Imam Shamil was besieged in his Chechen stronghold of Dargo by a Russian force in 1845. What ensued was the biggest victory for the Murids of the entire war and served to highlight the military genius of Shamil.

Hello..Thanks for making a video about the Caucuses and Chechen liberation movement which starts in Chechnya about 400 years ago..and while i commend you for your efforts..I do have some issues with your video that you fail to mention..and that's about the great figure "Imam Mansour"who was a foundational and integral part of the Caucasian liberation movement for freedom..and any mention of Caucasian history is seriously deficient without him being mentioned.. I urge you to make a video of this figure and his fundamental principles in the resistance of the russian invasions of the caucuses.
"Imam Mansuor" or Ushurma [his chechen name] was born in 1732 OR 1759 [historian different opinions ] in a chechen village called Aldy..
'Indeed, for Chechens Imam Mansur is the forefather and pre-founder both of the main ideas of the [Chechen] National Liberation Movement and of the aspiration for a political unification of the North Caucasian people, He is also regarded as the initiator of the Chechens long National-Liberation struggle which is still being waged.
[ The Lone Wolf and The Bear: Three Centuries of Chechen Defiance of Russia Rule, Moshe Gammer, Pg. 27 ]
' Mansur, it seems was the first to realise that on their own the different mountain communities would have no chance of resisting a great power such as russia. Hence his grand strategy (adopted and developed by later leaders of resistance) of following two separate but parallel paths: one, to unite all the mountaineers (and also the steppe nomads) in armed resistance to russia, and two to obtain ottoman assistance'.
[ The Lone Wolf and the Bear
      Pg. 28 ]
All Caucasians followed Imam Mansur from Chechens, Dagistanis, Circassians..etc. He defeated the russian military many times, one of his famed battles was the battle of Sunzha in 1785 which shocked the russian empire. He lead Chechens and Dagistanis and defeated russians in Kislyar.
He lead armies in Kabardina and Circassians in Anapa.
Finally after years of fighting unequal battles outnumbered many times, russians shot a Canon close to him which caused him to fall unconscious and was captured, and imprisoned for the rest of his life and died in the prison.

There is a false legend that people tend to believe that because Chamil was Dagestani, the Dagestani fought fiercely against the Russians, but this is not true, as for the Ossetians, they were the best allies of the Russians (especially to get more territories).
The Chechens fought the Russians long before and after Chamil betrayed the Chechens
They were inflicting monumental defeats on the Russians in a position of overwhelming inferiority long before Shamil and even when Shamil joined them after being driven out by his own people in Dagestan, Shamil's main forces were not the Dagestani but 90% of the Chechens and the rest were not even Avars, they were Lezgins and Koumyks who unlike the rest of the Dagestani people fought against the Russians
The Chechen people (Vaynax, which means "our people" -> Chechen and Ingush) were united but divided into clans, that's why their distribution on all maps is distorted.
They lived on territories known today from Dagestan to the Caspian Sea, where there is even an island called the Chechen Island.
Today, Chechens live on only 50% of the territory where they used to live, because their territory was ceded to the Dagestanis, who were the allies of the Russians from the beginning to the end (the same is true for the Ingush, whose 50% of the ancestral territory is held by the Ossetians).
The Chechens are the most courageous people in the history of mankind.
They are the only people, with a numerical disadvantage of 1 per 1000, who defeated not one, not two, but three monumental invasions of the Mongols (even though it cost them dearly), while only one of these invasions destroyed entire empires.
Tamerlane had to unite with other Mongol hordes (with whom he was at war) who had threatened the kingdom of Simsir in order to defeat the Chechens after very costly defeats after the Mongol invasions.
During the Bolshevik revolution, they crushed the White Army and the Red Army one after the other.
They repelled and crushed the German invasion of the Caucasus during the Second World War.
Only a small division of Ingush-Chechen soldiers managed to stop the advance of the German offensive towards Stalingrad for two weeks during the Second World War, which allowed the Russians to fortify the city of Stalingrad.

Imam Shamil was forced to surrender by the Georgian general - Konstantin Davydovich Tarkhan-Mouravov (Tarkhan-Mouravi), (the direct descendant of the famous Georgian warlord, Giorgi Saakadze) - the first Baku military governor. "At that time, from the north side, the hunters of the Georgian Grenadier (The 14th Grenadier Georgian Heir-Tsarevich's Regiment was an infantry unit of the Russian Imperial Army) and the Dagestan irregular cavalry regiments climbed the slopes of Gunib. Having climbed to the top, they took possession of the enemy blockage; murids fled. Prince Tarkhan-Mouravov, having let a rifle company of the Georgian Grenadier Regiment and a hundred irregular cavalry regiments pull up, moved them to the rear of other blockages that defended Gunib from the northeast side. All this happened so quickly and unexpectedly that Shamil and his closest confidants completely lost their heads, and fearing to be cut off from the village, they hurriedly fled there. About a hundred murids, abreks and runaway soldiers sat down behind the stones and rubble that protected Gunib from the eastern side. At that time, the Shirvan battalions of Colonel Kononovich had already moved to attack. They were met with strong fire, which, however, did not stop them. They even managed to drag them onto one of the ledges of the mountain 4 mountain guns. Murids, surrounded on all sides, fought desperately; having shot all the charges, they unsheathed their words and daggers but almost everyone was killed on the spot, however, there were losses among the Russian side too".

_Something important to know, for all who are interested in history and/or support Ukraine:_
_Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'._
_Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise._
_Its name “Russia" received only in the 18th century, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus')_
_Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian._
_Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'._
_In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership._
_“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village._
_Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'-Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!_
    Ukraine is historic Russia
And the modern so called “Russia” is a fake, a name and a history thief - Muscovy.

The only people who are untrained are the ukrainaians becuase they had already went through 7 waves of mobilisation where they gave their soldiers from 5 days of training to a few weeks which is basiclay nothing, they had given up on strategy and quality and started to use the ottoman doctrine of ,,just overwhelm the enemy bruh"
in lyman for example they used 15k-20k against 5k russian soldiers who werent even some elite forces, if they are so trained why do they need that many people ? They also lost 40% of that force while taking the city. Months ago they themselves told us how many they lose a day, 200 to be exact. Do the math yourself.
They have gotten themselves in a war of attrition with russia, the biggest mistke anybody can make. How many men will they waste ? They are just wearing out themselves down to nothing, its pissing me off that they cant understand the fact they are being used as proxy by somebody else.
Failed defence ? Like what ? Up untill now they have been on the offencive and pulling back to a safer position is the right choice than to just hold something there is no point in holding at the current moment. And who has pushed them back ? In the kherson the ukrainians maneged to get a few livages for a heavy price then their offencive completely stalled after which the russians themselves pulled back their forces becuaee they realise the risk is just too big, the dnepro dam ring any bells ?
