PLEASE NOTE!!! A great majority of this footage features Acorn Woodpeckers... which, it's important to note, drill grids of holes in trees to store acorns in. This is called their "larder" and they store acorns in these holes to eat later in the year.
(I know, old video, blame the algorythm) Sapsuckers also join the exceptions! They specialize in drilling lots of little holes in trees to drink the sap!
Thank you. I was annoyed that I didn’t hear why they were stashing acorns. 😅 The sap makes more sense to me, but I somehow have missed learning about both before. Probably too focused on the cute downy woodpeckers in my area. 😆

Hi Watop, I'm living in Jordan and the chameleons here seems to dining a hole in the ground and doing a hibernation during winter, that seems to be unusual behavior for chameleons! but I couldn't find much information about it online! Could you make a video about it? Thanks 😁
And mine they have an obnoxious, very loud noisy motorcycle and car that they rev up all of the time. Each and every single night and crack of dawn morning.
Pretty true with most birds. Since they can fly they can afford to make noise, especially since they can escape in 3 dimensions or even just jump off the tree/branch they're on. The main threat a woodpecker has is predatory birds, mainly raptors, who usually have a hard time nailing an animal on the side of a tree where branches might get in the way, and the only way to get them would be to fly past and somehow grab them without smacking the tree trunk. They mainly get killed in their nests, on branches, or if they land on the ground.
Same, except it was metal siding. I've also seen them trying to peck James Hardy siding which is a mixture of concrete and fiberglass. No idea why since both are impervious to bugs so there was nothing for them to eat.
I remember having a tree in my backyard, then we heard wood getting hit. After some time we went outside and saw holes all over our trees and we learned this was the doing of a woodpecker
I wish pileated woodpeckers would quit building dams across the English channel. Having all the water fill up on one side makes it such a hassle to navigate.
