Their company also didn't money in the start. They literally had to go into debt to train and debut Mamamoo, so the girl and the company basically had one shot at it

The initial costs/debt for training/debuting a group tend to range between $1-2.5m USD depending on the size of the group and various other costs (dorms, transport, stylists, MV costs, lesson costs, stage costs etc). It usually takes years for even a successful group to break even and pay off their debt, at which point they can actually start earning their own money (while the company debuts another group in the meanwhile, usually). Even fairly successful groups have spent their whole contract only really just breaking even, which is what happened to groups like Fiestar. But yeah, the break-even model is pretty much the norm for small companies. Blockberry tried to change that with an investment model for Loona and that's backfired on them in a pretty big way recently.
More like God bless their hard work, when they pay all their company's debt off (around year 2 since debut) they were given some freedom and more money to spend on mv, stylish and etc. In moomoos years this is from Decalcomanie era and so on...
아니 도대체 얘네 깔데가 뭐가 있음 솔직히 이해가 안됨 노래실력 넘사벽이지 게다가 각자 창법이나 노래색이 달라서 하나도 안질리고 이번 곡 이랑 화사 솔로나온거 보니까 춤도 잘추지 mr 필요없을 정도로 안무하면서 보컬 1도 안흔들리지 외모도 그냥 예쁘기만 한게 아니라 개성도 있고 매력도 많고 무대 장악력도 좋고 곡도 좋고 곡 분위기맞게 무대하고 애드립까지 해주고 팬심많고 평소 무대도 하나하나 열심히 하고 입덕 포인트도 많고 걍 얘네 회사가 작정하고 마마무 데뷔시킨거 같은데 난 솔직히 가요대전이나 그런 무대볼때 3사 기획사 걸그룹애들보다 마마무 무대가 더 기대됨 진짜 귀랑 눈 강제호강관광시켜줌
im so glad that moonbyul has gained so much confidence. i think she doesn't like the girly sexy type style that the others have and im glad that her company has let her branch out and be more herself cause i think it has really helped her stage presence.
@@pastellcutie it is only one stage. There are girl groups who almost never sing live amd yet, mmm never stopped amazing us with live performances. Plus that was a stage from a little while after theire debut. It is normal to be nervous at the first stages and lip-sync. But I think the fisrt show in this video was a mash-up from more stages so they obviously put music over the video

Their debut song was SO unique, specially for GGs. Mr. Ambiguous absolutely did justice to what the Queens are serving till this day- sass, musicality, confidence, feminine charms and lots of uniqueness!
That's why I fell in love with MAMAMOO.. Sadly much later! But never less it was 'starry night' and its release that got me, I am making my way to catching up!The thing with girlgroups is they are always 'different' or so they said... But they weren't- at least not to me. MAMAMOO? They define different and I love it!

MAMAMOO is indeed a woman group. Their concepts have always been mature ever since the beginning. Their performances from their rookie days didn't look like performances by rookies. The vocals and the confidence my gosh! They're so talented. They deserve more recognition.

이렇게 보니까 문별 랩 정말 많이 발전한거같음 전께 나빴다는게 아니라 톤도 점점 안정되고 가사도 그 위트나 깊이가 하루가 다르게 발전해서 듣는 맛이 있음 문별 빼고 저 보컬 세명이었다면 살짝 지루할 수도 있는 무대인데 감초같은 역할을 너무 잘해내고있어 보기힘든 개성강한 걸그룹이라 볼때마다 대단하다생각함 솔라는 사기캐로 시작해서 외모든 뭐든 변하는게없는게 너무 신기함 세월의 흐름이 전혀 느껴지지 않고 굳건한 중심역할이 독보적임 휜화가 개성이 강한편인데 그걸 하나로 아우르는 뭔가가있음 걍 대박이다 지금도 대박인데 더잘될거야
다른 멤버 파트 같이 하는거는 팬들한테 멤버 따라하는거 보여주려고 연습한거 같아요 팬싸 영상중에 화사가 솔라언니가 문별언니 파트를 열심히 따라하고 있더라고 이야기 한거 있어요.. 솔라 뿐만 아니라 마마무 멤버 전체적으로 서로 무대에서 킬링파트를 어떻게 하는지 특징을 잘 알아요.. 무대를 하면서도 그게 보인다는게 대단한 일이죠..
I think a lot of people forget these girls were constantly in heels. They just now started wearing other shoes. But for the past 4 years heels. They moved or danced in heels a lot.

After I watched that short drama that Moonbyul shot with other idols (Seulgi, YooA, Somi, Sujeong, Sohee and Euna) I became even fonder of her. When she talked about being forced to become a rapper to debut in Mamamoo because there were too many vocalists, and then she talked about mainly just standing or dancing in their performances because the rap parts are short... My heart sunk. I appreciate her, her personality, her strength a lot more now and I can't stop looking at her in these performances
I also saw that she’s sad performing in a VOCAL TEAM. No one new about this until ofc I saw the video. She was the leader and main vocalist of her old group and it’s kinda sad because as you said, RBW forced her to be a rapper from the drama because her voice suits more in rapping and my heart melted when Hyejin/Hwasa helped her in rapping.
I’mShooktAF I thought that was because she didn’t feel confident in singing though...it broke my heart to see her waiting for her short rap lines but at least now she gets some singing parts along with her rap🥺🥺🥺
마마무 데뷔 때부터 라이브 꾸준히 하고 같은 노래여도 제스쳐나 애드립이 바뀌어서 매 무대마다 보는 재미가 있음 네 명 다 개성이 강함에도 노래에 잘 섞여들기도 하고.. 무엇보다 다들 점점 더 실력이 늘어... 특히 이번 별이 언니 열 밤 무대 보고 놀랐다ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 어쩜 네명 다 잘해ㅜㅜ 이번 노래도 좋은데 앞으로 더 흥하자 마마무❣️

Yessss the feeling hits different when you see the growth from the start. The amount of hate comments these girls got , especially Hwasa, was ridiculous!!. So happy they were able to triumph through it all😌😌🥰🥰🥰
They really ruin the performance though, and they leave zero room for the singers to actually interact with the audience ... Of course I understand that there isn't much that can be done since there is no backing band (just a backing track) but still, it would be so much nicer if the crowd was singing along as opposed to yelling like that ... I understand that this is part of the genre but I find it borderline disrespectful of the work the singers put into their craft.

@@syafiqaszamin6411 Heya - I understand that it is a part of it of course ; however, I don't believe that they are composed/written by whoever produced the song originally. I am only familiar with the ones that go with Mamamoo songs and I noticed that despite the variety of their releases all the "fan chants" sound the same really - all following a structure similar to military marching chants, without any melody. I find it somewhat sad actually, because not only does it assume that fans cant find their own way to cheer the singers, it also assumes that the audience can't sing ...
I cannot believe they're said "not pretty enough for idols standard" "basic looking" during their debut. Wonder if that's because they don't look identical to each other or other idols. 😂😂 but rookie MMM just brings a huge smile to your faces, don't they? So fresh, so bubbly! They've come so far! T.T
I could still remember how they use the same stage outfit and shoes since they don't have alot of clothes endorsement! 😢😍 And to think they let Moomoos design their stage outfit!
Mal Lory during the first couple years they wore the same style of heel, the chunky ones from the beginning. They’ve said before that they painted those shoes sometimes to match the outfits. During Um ou ah yea they still wore heels but they wore new heels. They overall had more outfits to choose from from then on. They also said after they won rookie of the year in piano man era they paid off their debts and thus had more money for comebacks
Decalcomanie is truly a coming of age song for Mamamoo, it's where they began their mature era and started showing their individual colors in terms of outfits and styles all the while keeping their unity.
I remember when I first saw their debut news on allkpop and thought "what a weird group name". I listened to Mr. Ambiguous very casually on MusicBank while waiting for my favorites. I did not give them the attention they deserved until they appeared the second time on IS2 with Flying in the Night Sky. Then You're The Best was released and I decided to become a proud Moomoo because these girls are precious and crazily talented. They are hard-working as hell because they were coming from a small company like BTS with not enough capital to promote them crazily like the big 3 groups. They deserve so much more than even the attention they are having now. With the versatility in concepts, bold personalities and amazing singing and rapping skills, they should be THE girlgroup of their generation.
It's strange to watch one and a half hour's worth of MMM stages and see so little of their goofiness... MBC must have had hard time sorting out their serious stages
I just started to follow Mamamoo. In the past, I have listened to several songs, but never investigated who the members were. I have come late to the party. These four unique personalities are rare in the Kpop industry.

I kindda saw in a video Wheein looking to solar for help bc she used to space out. I like to believe Solar mouths their part just in case anyone gets lost. It doesn't show but is really helpfull to have someone to rely on eventhough you really don't need him/her. It makes the other more secure
Mamamoo impressed me alot,they're stage presence in their debut until now they just getting better.Mamamoo is in another level,the best of the best K-Pop Girl Group in this generation.Sadly,their popularity doesn't match their talent(They're still underrated😢).Mamamoo deserves to be recognized all around the world,they came to a very small agency and now they made it big by just how they work hard in their every single performances and music that they share for their fans.Such a talented 4 women with a genuine personality deserves fame and fortune💞

A fan since their predebut era, and watching this makes me so emotional. They might have no hard and sharp choreography like other groups have, but their vocals and their stage presence is something that other groups are lacking at. I remember how many artists (Baek z young, k.will, wheesung, jonghyun ex cnblue, joonyoung) were supporting mamamoo's debut because they see their potentials that they agreed on appearing on Mamamoo - Mr. Ambiguous MV. And now Mamamoo is improving so much and getting bigger. They are the real superstars and South Korea must be so proud having them
그냥 티비 돌리다가 애매모호 무대를 봤었는데 뭐지 아이돌이라기엔 4명 다 핸드마이크 쌩 라이브에 화음 넣는거랑 코디는 약간 합창단 같기도하고 근데 춤은 또 잘추고 얼굴도 이쁘장한데.. 노래가 아이돌 스타일은 아니네? 이러면서 신기하게 관심 가지게 됐었지 랩 톤도 기존 여자아이돌이랑 많이 달랐어서 신기했던 마마무는 잘될 수 밖에 없었다
You can see throughout the stages how much they have improved. But from the 1st stage, you can already see the talent that these beautiful girls possess. I'm so proud of them. Mamamoo fighting! ❤️
looking back on the older stages, I remembered one of the reasons why mamamoo didn't do intense choreos like hip: those crazy thin+ tall high heels they always wear to the point ppl are shocked in 2018/2019 and be like holy mamamoo so short O.O

Well to start with, mmm's supposed to be a vocal group so they def put more emphasis on the vocal part than hard choreo. What makes mmm good is not just that they are stable but because they are good vocalists as well. Most idols basically just sing a note but mmm puts flavor(?) in their songs, im honestly not sure but like theres more power and enthusiasm when they sing and stuff plus they do adlibs which makes it more entertaining for us viewers. Not saying other groups cant sing or anything😅 and i honestly cant imagine hard choreos in any of their previous songs, the choreo for each song actually fits the song itself so....yeah😂
Forgot to add their facial expressions on stage cause whenever i watch other groups some members mostly have just one each performance, plus some literally have just one smiley face like this while singing😃 which kinda creeps me out sometimes😅

데뷔때부터 신인 답지 않은 실력 곡 분위기 퍼포먼스 등등 으로 눈을 사로잡은 괴물신인이었지 그 이후로 음오아예부터 대중적인 음악을 장르로 해서 더 사랑을 받았고 피아노맨부터 점점 응원법 소리가 커지는거 보면 진짜 사랑받고 있는걸 알수있음 타이틀 곡 2/3 한번쯤은 1위를 했고 멤버 4명의 솔로곡이 다 빌보드 차트인 한 걸그룹은 국내 유일 이니까 마마무가! 심지어 휘인은 발라드.... 고고베베 전까지는 안무도 자기들이 짜고 작사 작곡은 당연히 하고 그 노래들이 수록곡으로 되고 콘서트에서 부르고 신인이어도 서로 디렉팅 하면서 녹음하고

이렇게 보니까 문별 랩 정말 많이 발전한거같음 전께 나빴다는게 아니라 톤도 점점 안정되고 가사도 그 위트나 깊이가 하루가 다르게 발전해서 듣는 맛이 있음 문별 빼고 저 보컬 세명이었다면 살짝 지루할 수도 있는 무대인데 감초같은 역할을 너무 잘해내고있어 보기힘든 개성강한 걸그룹이라 볼때마다 대단하다생각함 솔라는 사기캐로 시작해서 외모든 뭐든 변하는게없는게 너무 신기함 세월의 흐름이 전혀 느껴지지 않고 굳건한 중심역할이 독보적임 휜화가 개성이 강한편인데 그걸 하나로 아우르는 뭔가가있음 걍 대박이다 지금도 대박인데 더잘될거야

I think a lot of people forget these girls were constantly in heels. They just now started wearing other shoes. But for the past 4 years heels. They moved or danced in heels a lot.

After I watched that short drama that Moonbyul shot with other idols (Seulgi, YooA, Somi, Sujeong, Sohee and Euna) I became even fonder of her. When she talked about being forced to become a rapper to debut in Mamamoo because there were too many vocalists, and then she talked about mainly just standing or dancing in their performances because the rap parts are short... My heart sunk. I appreciate her, her personality, her strength a lot more now and I can't stop looking at her in these performances
I also saw that she’s sad performing in a VOCAL TEAM.
No one new about this until ofc I saw the video. She was the leader and main vocalist of her old group and it’s kinda sad because as you said, RBW forced her to be a rapper from the drama because her voice suits more in rapping and my heart melted when Hyejin/Hwasa helped her in rapping.

They really ruin the performance though, and they leave zero room for the singers to actually interact with the audience ... Of course I understand that there isn't much that can be done since there is no backing band (just a backing track) but still, it would be so much nicer if the crowd was singing along as opposed to yelling like that ... I understand that this is part of the genre but I find it borderline disrespectful of the work the singers put into their craft.

I am only familiar with the ones that go with Mamamoo songs and I noticed that despite the variety of their releases all the "fan chants" sound the same really - all following a structure similar to military marching chants, without any melody. I find it somewhat sad actually, because not only does it assume that fans cant find their own way to cheer the singers, it also assumes that the audience can't sing ...
I cannot believe they're said "not pretty enough for idols standard" "basic looking" during their debut. Wonder if that's because they don't look identical to each other or other idols. 😂😂 but rookie MMM just brings a huge smile to your faces, don't they? So fresh, so bubbly! They've come so far! T.T

During Um ou ah yea they still wore heels but they wore new heels. They overall had more outfits to choose from from then on. They also said after they won rookie of the year in piano man era they paid off their debts and thus had more money for comebacks

I remember when I first saw their debut news on allkpop and thought "what a weird group name". I listened to Mr. Ambiguous very casually on MusicBank while waiting for my favorites. I did not give them the attention they deserved until they appeared the second time on IS2 with Flying in the Night Sky.
Then You're The Best was released and I decided to become a proud Moomoo because these girls are precious and crazily talented. They are hard-working as hell because they were coming from a small company like BTS with not enough capital to promote them crazily like the big 3 groups.
They deserve so much more than even the attention they are having now. With the versatility in concepts, bold personalities and amazing singing and rapping skills, they should be THE girlgroup of their generation.
While they are not the biggest gg coming out from 3rd gen, they are definitely the best

I kindda saw in a video Wheein looking to solar for help bc she used to space out. I like to believe Solar mouths their part just in case anyone gets lost. It doesn't show but is really helpfull to have someone to rely on eventhough you really don't need him/her. It makes the other more secure

A fan since their predebut era, and watching this makes me so emotional. They might have no hard and sharp choreography like other groups have, but their vocals and their stage presence is something that other groups are lacking at. I remember how many artists (Baek z young, k.will, wheesung, jonghyun ex cnblue, joonyoung) were supporting mamamoo's debut because they see their potentials that they agreed on appearing on Mamamoo - Mr. Ambiguous MV. And now Mamamoo is improving so much and getting bigger. They are the real superstars and South Korea must be so proud having them

그냥 티비 돌리다가 애매모호 무대를 봤었는데 뭐지 아이돌이라기엔 4명 다 핸드마이크 쌩 라이브에 화음 넣는거랑 코디는 약간 합창단 같기도하고 근데 춤은 또 잘추고 얼굴도 이쁘장한데.. 노래가 아이돌 스타일은 아니네? 이러면서 신기하게 관심 가지게 됐었지 랩 톤도 기존 여자아이돌이랑 많이 달랐어서 신기했던 마마무는 잘될 수 밖에 없었다

Why not? She looked so pretty in it! Like outfits with one really vibrant colour (Like the red suit or the dress from ''the way to sampoo'' on immortal songs) don't suit her that much but more laid back outfits look so cute (on a radio version of ''Ahh! Oop!'' and ''Piano'' she had this really pretty outfit)

Well to start with, mmm's supposed to be a vocal group so they def put more emphasis on the vocal part than hard choreo. What makes mmm good is not just that they are stable but because they are good vocalists as well. Most idols basically just sing a note but mmm puts flavor(?) in their songs, im honestly not sure but like theres more power and enthusiasm when they sing and stuff plus they do adlibs which makes it more entertaining for us viewers. Not saying other groups cant sing or anything😅 and i honestly cant imagine hard choreos in any of their previous songs, the choreo for each song actually fits the song itself so....yeah😂
Forgot to add their facial expressions on stage cause whenever i watch other groups some members mostly have just one each performance, plus some literally have just one smiley face like this while singing😃 which kinda creeps me out sometimes😅

데뷔때부터 신인 답지 않은 실력 곡 분위기 퍼포먼스 등등 으로 눈을 사로잡은 괴물신인이었지 그 이후로 음오아예부터 대중적인 음악을 장르로 해서 더 사랑을 받았고 피아노맨부터 점점 응원법 소리가 커지는거 보면 진짜 사랑받고 있는걸 알수있음
타이틀 곡 2/3 한번쯤은 1위를 했고 멤버 4명의 솔로곡이 다 빌보드 차트인 한 걸그룹은 국내 유일 이니까 마마무가! 심지어 휘인은 발라드.... 고고베베 전까지는 안무도 자기들이 짜고 작사 작곡은 당연히 하고 그 노래들이 수록곡으로 되고 콘서트에서 부르고 신인이어도 서로 디렉팅 하면서 녹음하고
