Basic data plotting in MATLAB

This screencasts covers how to use the PLOT command to make plots of data. Basically it's the same procedure as using PLOT to make graphs of functions. We work through a couple of simple examples and discuss formatting for data plots.

Referencing your first plot with the census - are you able to determine what the population approximately is a quarter way through, say, 1980-1990? Can you perform this interpolation with the plot function, or will you need to fit the data to some type of curve first then find the value at 1980.25 (one quarter way through 1980)?

I was looking for an understanding of what figure your commands are defaulting to. It is one thing to rely on defaults, like saying title = "My plot", but what if you have multiple figures? How do you specify what figure your command is going to? Most video tutorials rely heavily on the defaults. Matlab is very intuitive because it guesses all your actions and creates defaults. but if you want to do something more complicated, it is hard to understand how it really works.

and btw, do you know how to graph functions in autocad using matlab? I use the table on the variable editor (that shows you a vector 1x100) sending it to excel, as an intermediary between matlab and autocad. But it is there another way? without using excel?

Hello Sir,
i would like to ask you for some advice please. i need to make a software for aircraft performance. in my software i need to set all the equations and formulas. i need to then make a user interface in which users can just put data such as no. of passengers and how much cargo the aircraft is loading. what i basically need is that after the users enter these values the software should calculate the values plus open graphs and show cruise performance of the aircraft during its flight. isit possible in matlab? yamen kezel well MATAB has a function that says if you put size(matrix,1,)returns the rows. There is another function that says size(matrix,2) and returns the coloumns.
