Basel: Host city out of passion

With its lively cultural scene and festivals, international sports events, numerous markets and important global trade fairs, the city of Basel is a venue of national and international significance.
When it comes to sports, Basel has a lot to offer. Tennis fans get their money’s worth at Swiss Indoors, held at the St. Jakobshalle every autumn. Year after year, this internationally renowned indoor tournament brings the best tennis players in the world to Basel. In mid-March, the world’s top badminton players meet here to compete in the Badminton Swiss Open. Also in the St. Jakobshalle, the world's best show jumpers compete for the Indoor Grand Prix at the Longines CHI Classics Basel in January. Apart from these large-scale events, there is also a wealth of smaller festivals and fairs as well as concerts, theatre, ballet and opera performances.
