    There’s a very common fate that is so bad it has caused suicides. the chronic pain, discomfort and poor vision. 20/20 means nothing when you see double or have poor contrast.

      No, there are not effective treatments for everyone. Dry eye can can become so severe that you are unable to work, and can't keep your eyes open due to severe eye pain. The cornea is the most pain-sensitive part of the human body, so when things aren't right and they can't fix it, the pain can be through the roof.

    There are "cases where people have lost extensive vision"? Come on... don't try to sugarcoat it. There are cases where people have flat out lost EYES due to this surgery, so they lost 100% of their vision. Others go on to become legally blind from ectasia years after surgery (a known complication of LASIK that can take years to show up). I agree this is uncommon, but don't pretend as if you can't actually lose your vision completely.
    Then you go on to acknowledge that yeah, technically it's possible, but you compare it the risk of being hit by lightening. Well guess what - we all take measures to avoid being hit by lightening, such as not hanging out under tall trees in the middle of a meadow during a thunder storm, even though we know the risk is low. So why on earth wouldn't we want to also avoid the risk of losing our sight to an unnecessary surgery if we can just wear glasses (which have zero chance of blinding us).
    Or do you tell your kids to play under tall trees during lightening storms because the risk is very low? I think not.
    Lastly, have you ever seen a well-designed study with 5 MILLION people in it who had lasik where they analyzed who lost sight and who didn't? No such study exists so you're pulling your 1-in-5-million number out of thin air. If I'm mistaken, please do share a link to the study from which you found this statistic.

    • @crispycruiser4654
      @crispycruiser4654 Рік тому

      That's exactly what they do with all drugs and surgeries. Pluck a number completely out of thin air, such as 1 in a million, 1 in 5 million, etc. If you're lucky they'll grease some organization to do a study with 300 people and call it evidence. Then they'll get a doctor who gets kickbacks to peer review the article. They know they cannot get away with saying it NEVER happens, because of the universal axiom all medicine has some risk, but they downplay the risk to such an extent that nobody thinks it can ever happen to them. Until it does. From there, they promptly deny and gaslight the patient, falling back on their estimates they used to sell the medication to suggest they're unlikely to be the 1 in 5 million, and misdiagnose the patient as having "anxiety" or an obscure autoimmune disease that came on coincidentally the same week or month as the procedure. Vasectomies are marketed as 1 in 1,000 have a reaction, when it's actually 1 in 50. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics are marketed as 1 in 10,000 to have a tendon rupture, when an adverse reaction affecting the muscoloskeletal system is between 2-5%. This is at the core of their business model. Selling used cars, only much worse because it's our one and only body.

      The issue here is that you're acting as though it is being denied or that they don't risk a massive lawsuit by lying about statistics, not to mention the life altering inplications of vision loss. If you do your research and find a reputable practising laser eye surgeon under a providing company, your agonising over infantismal data will be eased as they are obligated to show their data at your leisure before going ahead - and you're more than welcome to inquire across a plethora of providers. There's a huge overlap in the tech used and the respective success rates, and you can compile that to get perspective on the extreme rarity of any issues that may occur post-surgery if you do the math. Nothing is risk-free, of course, but by your logic, are you going to avoid getting into a car or crossing roads because of motor vehicle incidents? No. That is paranoia and insane!

    • @crispycruiser4654
      @crispycruiser4654 10 місяців тому

      @@insertnamehere8723 "Infantismal" is not a word. I assume you meant "Infinitesimal" as in very small risk. According to who, LASIK surgeons who make $5,000 in 15 minutes and HAVE to sell it as "safe and effective" lest scare off potential victims? The FDA has stated that 1 in 5 people will have a complication 6 months after LASIK. It's COMMON. It's not "paranoia." You're just a gaslighter. And destroying a perfectly healthy eye because you're too insecure or lazy to wear contacts and glasses all day now THAT'S insane.

      Nope. I know of a woman who went to the most expensive, most experienced surgeon in the city and ended up losing an eye due to complications of the surgery. This surgeon had people fly in from all around the world to have him do LASIK on them... he trained other surgeons how to do it, too. But even he wasn't immune to patients ending up losing an eye. The doctor's skills influence the result... but even if the surgery is performed perfectly, losing an eye is still a possibility.

      Nobody is denying it. The key takeaway is covered regarding the probability by putting it into perspective. The procedure itself is a combination of highly advanced technology self calibrating up to 99% and skilled surgical professionals who have done this thousands of times. Providing you follow the after care advice, it's basically impossible for it to go wrong unless gross negligence is at place, which, while very unlikely, could possibly be a factor, but is unlikely according to the statistics and sucess rates - all of which are accessible to patients prior to the procedure. Given the volume of procedures and success rates, it's very unlikely a negligent and inept surgeon is kept on the payroll and would have been identified well before your procedure. You're also in contact with the surgeon for a curtousy call and to provide a Q&A for patients to build trust and confidence, as well as to ease patients by clarifying the process and to dispell any misconceptions that may have been in the patients mind. Needless to say, this wouldn't be performed if it was detrimental or has an unacceptable margin of error. Again, remember this is highly skilled, advanced tech by professionals who have spent years and undergone countless hours of training and studying yo perform.

    Ok so let’s say for arguements sake that there is a one in five million chance of going blind? Why the hell are you performing these procedures? You are knowingly causing someone a lifetime of impaired vision. In reality the chances of developing any type of vision issues is much higher with at least 20 to 30% of people suffering debilating vision issues and/or severe eye pain. This isn’t even including all the conditions that you are predisposed to after getting the surgery. The surgery literally destroys the structure and integrity of the eye. It’s a horrible procedure that has caused so many people pain and suffering and many have taken there own lives because of it. It’s absolutely disgusting that these greedy eye surgeons ignore this and continue to perform these dangerous and completely unnecessary surgeries.
