Thomas Cook Boeing 757-28A | London Gatwick to Skiathos *Full Flight*

Skiathos has been on my "To Do" list for quite some time now, what with the insanely low landings, amazing close-ups and extremely powerful jetblasts so finally on July 9th we set off for the small Aegean Island onboard the largest frequent aircraft to visit the island, a Boeing 757.
A rather grey, damp & dull departure from Gatwick was soon replaced by clear skies once airborne. (Apoloigies for the loss of focus at times during the cloud penetration) Once over mainland Europe the skies for mostly clear allowing for some stunning views over the North of Italy including clear views of Italy's largest lake, Lake Garda! Seen from 23:30 onwards.
Our routing from there took us South East towards Verona before reaching Venice on the coast and again allowing for some stunning views of the city and sea-barrier can be clearly seen from 25:30 onwards. From there we headed out into the Adriatic Sea towards the Croatian coast with some stunning views of the small Islands which are dotted all the way, near Zadar. Followed by pass over of the Croatian cities Split & Dubrovnik at 29:09 & 30:25. Before crossing mainland Greece and starting our decent just over Thessalonka. The standard approach to Skiathos takes us around the North East of the Island and passing over the top of Skopelos before making a sharp right for approach on the Northerly runway 02. Once on the approach great views of the beautiful island and Skiathos Town itself.

Excellent video, I couldn't help notice the captain asked to power down devices when doors are shut or something. I thought devices didn't have to be powered down anymore as long as they're in airplane mode ?
Great vid! I'm going to corfu soon! Hasn't got as quite a thrilling airport as skiathos but I am going on an a330 which is quite a heavy for CFU!
Is that the Monarch A330 flight? Should be very nice, theres lots of great spots for filming and photography at Corfu. All the Greek islands are lovely.

Brilliant video. I was on Skiathos just last week! Went spotting on all the busy days for traffic. Did you go there only for the thrilling planespotting experience or the beaches as well? And another question(!), did you manage to spot the SAS A320 on 12th July?
We went to the beaches on certain days! I didn't film the SAS A320 on July 12th, but I saw it from the bus to the beach! :/
rachaelmatt Ahh right, I was on that flight. I saw 3 lads with tripods and all that gear on Friday the 11th around midday, and now I realise you and charlest103 were on the island at the time, after seeing your videos! Was that you?

Not called the "European Sint Maarten" for nothing. Awesome approach and landing in Skiathos. Hopefully I can go to both locations in the future.
Yeah absolutely! The only difference being St. Maarten can take heavies and St. Maarten has a fence between you & the aircraft that Skiathos doesn't.
Skiathos has a short fence, based on videos I've seen of landings there, including of an Italian plane, the wheel of which clipped the top of the fence before touching down.
Gameflyer001 Theres a crash barrier to stop cars driving onto the runway and then some barbed wire coiled up, thats it, no proper fence directly at the end of the runway.

Great video! But Thomas cook planes are not very comfortable, the legroom is terrible. I traveled on them a few years ago and will not use thomas cook again.
Yes have to agree the legroom is poor, but I will still fly with them if I must.
Older 757s are quite filthy as well

They normally do but we were at a remote stand, so were on a bus to our aircraft
great video, what aircraft would i take if im going from East Midlands to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Offshore morroco? Im travelling with jet2 if that helps with the answer
Puerto Rica is in the Caribbean and Costa Rica is in Central America above Panama. Good luck getting there with Jet2 from East Midlands because they don't fly there.
