Gone are the days, we now have “the white elephant car park” and little or no traders. The man at 25.46 is Mr Dan Considine, he owned Considine pub in the Turnpike. The Alymers Rest is there now. At 26.38-41 man with 3 children is my dad Leo Clohessy with me my brother Sean and my sister Maria. It was Sean’s First Communion Day.

Man this is so weird. Living here for 13 years now and seeing the places I have visited frequently in town. It's just totally bizarre.

I see now there’s a debate between Waterford and Clare as to who has the oldest settlement in Ireland. Mount Sandel up the north isn’t the oldest anymore. Two settlements now, in Waterford and Clare are now said to be the oldest, both are roughly 12,500 years old...that’s before the last ice age!. And us being celts, we’re no relation to them. We’re not the first people here, we’re the third or possibly fourth.

My last name (family name) is Ennis, does this originate from here?

Very many family surnames originate from place names, or trades.
      eg.
Jill Ireland, John London, Keith Durham, Mary Ashbourne, Jim Berkshire, George Beresford.
Tom Archer, John Smith, Jilly Cooper, etc.
The previous person posting, is clearly uneducated.

Somewhere between the two other answers.
John Ennis could have originated as ‘John from Ennis’, but given that Inis just means island, it could be ‘John from the island’, and who knows which island?

People are/can be full of criticism and gossip not a town and you'll find them in every village, town and city
