    I've been organizing my life and now I'm back around to the fabrics and craft supplies! Here's a cache of items I had forgotten about! Now they are organized and ready to be used. Do you have some items that need to be revisited?

      @@chrystalhenthorne8209 I'm looking for Boundless in Chateau. It's a floral with a tan background. I poked around online this morning and I found some jellyroll strips but no yardage. I have a pack of jelly rolls. I'd love another two or three yards of that print if I can find it to do my curtains. If I can't find it, I'm doing it as a valance and the low volume as the lower cafe curtain. If you got some and will part with it, I will buy it from you!

    Some other resources for thread - Sew Yeah out of Las Vegas has great prices on Aurifil thread. Also, Check out Superior Threads. They have their own brand and it’s polyester, blends and cotton. I love their So Fine for my Free Motion Quilting and piecing. I like a super fine and thin thread for piecing so that my blocks lay super flat. It’s fun to explore all the products and options. I still have another chunk of stuff to organize so more to come. I stashed my stuff here there and everywhere and doing that made it so I didn't really know what I had or how much. So getting everything together in one or two spots in my organization goal.

    I've missed you!! Good to see you again. I discovered Bluprint just as they were going out of business and bought up lots of fabric also. Another industry fact, we can thank Chemstrand/Monsanto/Solutia(one company,many names) for our fiber business going overseas. Just before their patents ran out they agreed to help Pakistan, Turkey etc build plants and taught them the business of producing fiber. I was a safety equipment contract worker for 12 years at one of their plants. Once the foriegn plants were up and running (delayed due to earthquakes) the company sold off their fiber business and half of the local employees lost their jobs, including me. I have inherited yards and yards of calico fabrics that are at least 40 years old...now to decide what to do with them!!

      Thank you for sharing your experience Cheri!! Oh my gosh don’t get me started on that demon known as Monsanto. 🤬 globalists are not our friends! We took so much pride in our work and products and I am still hopeful that will come back around.

    Hi Patty! Its so good to see you again. Its been a hugely busy summer for us all. I am going to try and make my own dress mannequin. Have you ever tried that? Watching you show fabrics is getting me ready for the snow to fly here (my sewing time). I am organizing my new sewing room, which I painted and hung artwork and have a design wall started. Do you have a quilting design wall set up?

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Annette! Great to see you again! I have not made a dress form because I don't make any clothes for myself. I've made pajama pants, and I will probably make some again this winter, but that's it. The alterations and adjustments and sleeves and necklines seem like so much. I wind up just wearing t shirts and sweat shirts to be honest. I don't have a design wall because I don't have a free wall in here to put one up. And I do small projects for the most part, so I haven't needed one thus far. I would like to make something new for my bedroom which was supposed to be a summer project that never got done. LOL Oh well. Onward and upward!

    You may or may not want to word your statement about the cotton being grown here but shipped to Pakistan to be printed and sold back here. It's just that Pakistan as well as many countries (including our own want to purchase our country's cotton print it up and sell it but if you notice it's still about the same price per yard if the quality quilting cotton is bought)..we produce many of exported items here....but as far as textiles goes others purchase our textiles too and if one just happens to purchase it and it came from their..then....🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️from there they have purchased fabric bought buy Pakistan that the cotton was milled here. Japan, Malaysia Pakistan and many countries purchase our cotton textiles then print it up.....our companies just happen to purchase their printed fabrics. We also purchase Fabrics milled and printed here, just so happens so does the rest of the world.

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  2 роки тому

      I'm not following what you're saying, Linda. The complexity of the supply chain and the journey that a simple of fabric can make before it arrives in a personal sewing stash is difficult to process. Fabrics are not printed in the US anymore. It's all done over seas now, from what I understand, but I'm not a historian on the subject. I do know we used to make all our own fabrics in the US until Clinton came to power and started us down the globalization path. Which I'm not a fan of. I have items still in stash that were packed away for decades that I bought in the early 90s when I was sewing, and that fabric is incredible quality. I think the items I've been finding from Pakistan and Japan and S. Korea in stores now are beautiful, and the quality is much better than what we were getting from China. When the tariffs kicked in and Asian production moved out of China and to S. Korea, Japan and now Pakistan, the quality went way up. I'm speaking from my own general experience with the fabrics I personally purchased and used in the last 5 years and specifically about what I get in Joann.

      @PattymacMakes  3 роки тому +6

      I debated heavily on whether or not to include it, but to be honest, I think it's important people understand why we don't have supplies made domestically anymore. It has not been all that long since our industries went over seas, and it started with Bill. If makes you feel any better I voted for him twice. That was before I woke up and realized what I was doing. I'm very pro American made products, and it's impossible in crafting. He's the reason why. It is a fact, and I'm sorry if you believe examining facts is political. World trade started in that administration, and and it's all but killed our country. I personally would like to have our industries back. On the upside, the tariffs on China killed their ability to own the fabric exports, and we now get cottons from all over Asia. Every place except China for the most part which makes me happy. But I'll be happiest when we stop importing altogether and make everything in the USA again. I pray it happens. I still have vintage fabric from the days when everything was still made here and it's absolutely gorgeous. I treasure those Made in America items, because they show what a shining example of pride and accomplishment we used to be.
