  • Fast draw, also known as quick draw, is the ability to quickly draw a handgun and accurately fire it upon a target in the process. This skill was made popular by romanticized depictions of gunslingers in the Western genre, which in turn were inspired by famous historical gunfights in the American Old West.

really like the showmanship and filmography in this scene on legends of tomorrow, i think they could make some good westerns and gun fight movies if the same crew wanted to, it'd be pretty good.

    I. Read that Glenn Ford was fast on the draw ,so was Clint Eastwood, Kirk Douglas was absolutely amazing with guns. Also Hugh O'Brien. Many westerns have been made . Some were 1/2 hour long . Really Great Western movies or T.V. shows of the past are being shown on different networks . Two of my favorite westerns 1990s is Tombstone & Open Range

Glen Ford was amazing in this movie - so was Broderick Crawford!

In the first scene, the actor did not fan the pistol. In those days most pistols were single action. You had to draw back the hammer before firing. as shone in the second scene

Doesn’t stop anyone from fanning. Fanning is just moving the hammer back with the off hand.

Who says Fast Draw? It's quick for a reason. From Old English, cwic, that's minced with Latin's vivere meaning "to live"? "The quick and the dead", is the living and the dead. It's from that Book a lot of people used to read way back when. "The quick and the dead" spawned the phrase Quick Draw. Words are the means to meaning.

Do you know why these kind of "duels" never happened this way in the Old West? Because back then everyone could shoot straight and whoever drew first was going to kill you!! That's why in a gunfight when you saw the person of your disagreement with, you shot first whether he was facing you or not!!

Remember the big gunfight in "Appoloosa?" Emmett: "That didn’t take long." Virgil: "Everybody could shoot." 👍😎

Nope, you went to jail and got hung if you did that. You’ve just fallen for and regurgitated some internet nonsense. Gunfights definitely happened, and who shot first was incredibly important. They may not have always been stood in front of each other as Hollywood commonly shows but gunfights did happen.

It’s also due to the fact that most gunslingers or gunmen just to name a few bill hickock, billy the kid,Jesse James,John Wesley Hardin,Morgan Earp,Johnny Ringo, Dallas stoudemire were all shot in the back,
Famous Gunfighters didn’t die peacefully being able to write their stories because most of them were just shot in the back,
There were famous cases though were there were QuickDraws with faster guns,Hickock-tutt fight, clay Allison table duel,4 dead in 5 seconds,Jelly Bryce had a few but it was more about being smart and analyzing your situation rather than being fast
