when i watched J'Tia tonight, I immediately had a flash to what Corinne said about nuclear engineers - "well, Homer Simpson is a nuclear engineer..." SPOT ON, Corinne!! and STEPHEN!! so happy to see you again!! so excited about this Know-It-Alls season.
What was really damning for Garrett was when he stated that he made an alliance with Kass and Spencer, and THEN TOLD TASHA that it was only done to "split her and J'tia" up, which sounds like he was only using Kass as a pawn. He then deflected and said Kass was the one who approached him and Spencer about an alliance, which Kass denied, and claimed he wasn't a mastermind and basically tried to make it seem the alliance was all her idea. That was his downfall. And I think Tasha deserves some credit for at least influencing Kass to switch her vote. It did work in her favor considering that she was not included in the alliance that Garrett referred to.
Garrett also made it seem as if Kass approached them to vote out J'Tia and created this alliance between them and Spencer, almost blaming her more than himself. That probably annoyed her a lot as well, I think.
this was one of your best shows ever. great job!! hilarious!!!! tonight proved once again that survivor is, and always will be the best show on tv. you can't make this stuff up...
Rob and Stephen!! I'm super excited for this season, especially knowing I can follow up every episode with you two. Your know-it-all-ness is astounding and enlightening, keep it up!
Most entertaining recap! Rob & Stephen's glee was infectious. This premiere was so many kinds of awesome (good & bad)! Couldn't wait to log on to hear your take. #teamsarah
What do you think production will do with Garrett's idol, still hidden somewhere at camp? Also, one of the best/craziest premiere episodes I've ever seen!
The Spyshack was hilarious. What is he thinking?? Does he expect people to go... "We need to talk. Let's go behind that weird looking bush that has magically appeared and talk some strategy" I also loved the fact that one cop interrogated the other... Good cop work to spot him, unfortunately he was undercover...:)
i thought it was kind of dumb that Tasha said "This is survivor, we're supposed to strategize" 1. There is no fixed rule in survivor like that, 2. if something is stopping you from strategizing work around it, "out wit" the person trying to stop you from forming a strategy
Has the success of the beauty tribe surprised you? They've been the best at the puzzles so far, and there are a few people on the tribe building alliances (although these may break apart the tribe later on if they stay successful in the challenges, like at Tandang).
I worked for a couple of weeks at a froyo shop where my co-worker broke the freezer. That is just one clear easy example. There are others... people who do something that hurts the group or company in a major way. I have encountered many destructive people.
How did that 2000 hours of preparation do you garret? He told Tasha that she wasn't in the alliance with him, Kass and Spencer after lying to Kass and voting out her closest ally the night before.
Garrett was such an idiot. He found the idol and he didn't even bother to bring it to tribal after what happened at camp? He practically thought he could just change the game and think the whole tribe could get along when someone is going to be voted out... While I am saying this, I don't like J'Tia either. I had high hopes for Garrett but I'm pretty sure his spot got taken by Latasha. Good luck to Spencer, he's my favorite on the brains right now.
Oh my gosh, i nearly died this episode. I really like some of the players though. The brawn and beauty tribes are pretty entertaining. Couldn't believe the brains tribe...poor spencer
After watching it all play out, I'd fell personally offended if I was John Cochran. Jefra said in the beginning that the Brains Tribe looked like the "Cochran" of the game.
What about the idea that Kass made the right decision because Garrett had lied to her the previous tribal and proved to be to wishy washy. By getting rid of Garrett she controls her own fate moving forward.
For the idol, wouldn't they re-hide it? they did that in Micronesia when Ozzy left his idol in camp when he was voted out, so they re-hid it on Exile Island because the idol is dead when the owner is voted out.
The "Brains" tribe in this season of Survivor is giving a textbook example of playing the second half of the game before you play the first. Strategy and cunning don't amount to a hill of beans in this game if you continually fail in spectacular fashion at the challenges, then fail to vote out the one person who's singlehandedly responsible for making you fail in spectacular fashion at the challenges because you're nervous about the guy who's calling the shots.
Tony said that he was going to hide behind the half-dome he had build and listen to people inside who are laying inside and having conversations. He will go around and come back from the other side, then he will just stand behind the wall and listen. In his mind people will expect him to come back from the front, because he went in that direction, but all that time will be standing behind and listening to what they are talking about. Then if somebody gets up suddenly, he can just pretend that he's just coming back to the camp. If he's lucky he will sneak back into the bush, go around and come back from the other side without being spotted and without raising suspicion. I think that's how it looks in his mind. I wonder if they actually showed us him building this thing because that crazy thing will serve him in some way in the future (or perhaps the opposite and he'll get busted). He's a sneaky dude. He managed to steal the clue to hidden immunity idol after all.
David, Spencer, and Kass should have stuck together and aligned in the first vote and voted out Jetia. It snowballed out of control from there. One giant snowball from hell!
Kass was my pick to win pre season. I am so happy I picked her, love that she was so straight up with J'Tia. Hope J'Tia runs off into the jungle and is never heard of again
This episode had some of the most disgraceful gameplay that i've ever seen, between David's choice to say that he was playing until the end of the game without worrying about the first vote, Garrett's idea to have the public forum, Kass for aligning herself with a rice-dumper, and JTia for, well, being a rice-dumper. Anyone who watched Brandon Hantz 2.0 and decided that it was a good way to play should be first boot.
Brandon was booted from Fans vs Favorites 2 for doing just about the same thing as Jtia, only yelling more. Jtia is a time bomb and she is bringing the tribe down
On the point of Garrett's hidden immunity idol.. It will certainly be hid again and a new clue will make its way into the game. I'm fairly certain production plucked the idol along with his belongings before the Brains tribe got back.
I think the Brain tribe is heading down the same path Russell Swan's tribe went down when Malcolm and Denise were the only two left. I could see Kass pulling a Denise and going to every tribal council and then winning the game.
Lets say hypothetically I was dumb enough to make J'Tia my preseason winner pick. Should I be upset with her performance or just content she is somehow still in the game?
Why don't people suspect those that want to implement the babysitting strategy of having an immunity idol? I know Phillip didn't have the idol, but I would think by now those that want to implement that strategy would be a target for suspicion of having an idol. If I was playing survivor I would put suspicion on the guy who implements that strategy for having an idol so he'd have a target on his back (anyone but me strategy) and try to get the person blindsided. About J'tia, I don't blame her for burning the rice. If people are going to babysit and he/she knows he/she has a very low chance of saving themselves (unable to sway people because of numbers) then damaging their tribe's ability to compete is a strategy for her. If they are voting her out and she's 95% plus certain that she can't do anything then why shouldn't she screw over their chances of winning a million as well? I mean they tell her she's being voted out and they're just sitting there monitoring everyone and 3 people outright said they are thinking of voting her out. I know people are going to say that she just burns her bridges by burning the rice or doing anything destructive to the tribe, but from most of the seasons I've watched it's very difficult to scramble once you're in the bottom and in her case she blew it in the puzzle and she was already targeted in the first tribal. I'm pretty sure she knew she had very little chance of doing anything especially with their babysitting strategy so she did what she had to do to say "screw you". If she was voted out, I don't think Garrett would've been able to stay in the game much longer with little rice so she would've got her payback on him.
one of the guys who is thinking strategically and smart enough to think of the note in the reward. but then again we didnt see what the others in brawn were thinking as much, they might also be thinking strategically like him.
Steven: "I didn't love Tasha"
well you two will become really close later in life
when i watched J'Tia tonight, I immediately had a flash to what Corinne said about nuclear engineers - "well, Homer Simpson is a nuclear engineer..." SPOT ON, Corinne!!
and STEPHEN!! so happy to see you again!! so excited about this Know-It-Alls season.

That was his downfall. And I think Tasha deserves some credit for at least influencing Kass to switch her vote. It did work in her favor considering that she was not included in the alliance that Garrett referred to.
Tasha is Queen
I think if David didn't pick Garrett as the weakest, we would have seen a totally different game.
Garrett also made it seem as if Kass approached them to vote out J'Tia and created this alliance between them and Spencer, almost blaming her more than himself. That probably annoyed her a lot as well, I think.
this was one of your best shows ever. great job!! hilarious!!!! tonight proved once again that survivor is, and always will be the best show on tv. you can't make this stuff up...
great show *****
Rob and Stephen!! I'm super excited for this season, especially knowing I can follow up every episode with you two.
Your know-it-all-ness is astounding and enlightening, keep it up!
when is this starting?
i love stephens epic scream at the beginning
"JUST DON'T SAY ANYTHING!" Haha, I was literally shouting this during the episode. Fantastic show guys!
Great episode!
Someone please upload the premiere online! PLEASE :)
Watching this podcast while having breakfast! I missed you Rob and Stephen!
Most entertaining recap! Rob & Stephen's glee was infectious.
This premiere was so many kinds of awesome (good & bad)!
Couldn't wait to log on to hear your take.
#teamsarah
They have to show the full intro next week
I'm really rooting for Spencer! I hope he can pull through
Where is the full Survivor intro, it has been missing for 2 seasons now. It's been very underreported.
i'm hoping they will get one next week
They'd have no food in their home. Ha. That made me laugh.
What do you think production will do with Garrett's idol, still hidden somewhere at camp? Also, one of the best/craziest premiere episodes I've ever seen!
The Spyshack was hilarious. What is he thinking?? Does he expect people to go... "We need to talk. Let's go behind that weird looking bush that has magically appeared and talk some strategy"
I also loved the fact that one cop interrogated the other... Good cop work to spot him, unfortunately he was undercover...:)
7:47 oh poor fish you found that out first hand
Did it seem like Garrett was on the verge of pulling an Osten Taylor?
i thought it was kind of dumb that Tasha said "This is survivor, we're supposed to strategize" 1. There is no fixed rule in survivor like that, 2. if something is stopping you from strategizing work around it, "out wit" the person trying to stop you from forming a strategy
J'Tia reminded me of NaOnka a little bit.
How bad was it of Garrett to throw the blame of making the alliance on Kass right before they are going to vote?
Love you Stephen!! Rob's great, but it can be a bit much only Rob lol. Love you too Rob! ;) Great to have know it alls back!
Lol...@43:00 is why I love these recaps.
J'tia was J'mazing
Has the success of the beauty tribe surprised you? They've been the best at the puzzles so far, and there are a few people on the tribe building alliances (although these may break apart the tribe later on if they stay successful in the challenges, like at Tandang).
lol stephens scream at the start lol missed him
I worked for a couple of weeks at a froyo shop where my co-worker broke the freezer. That is just one clear easy example. There are others... people who do something that hurts the group or company in a major way. I have encountered many destructive people.
stephen fishbach on j'tia: she's re-defining bad. 100% correct.
do survivor pick out what they wear on day 1 I did not know that
Spencer seems like the only smart one on the brains tribe.
Yea, he's my favorite on the tribe so far
Well he is a rhapist...
How did that 2000 hours of preparation do you garret? He told Tasha that she wasn't in the alliance with him, Kass and Spencer after lying to Kass and voting out her closest ally the night before.
I'd say it served him pretty well considering it's only because of him brains had the lead they had in the challenge. Hope brains get stomped now.
Kass, Tasha and Spencer were like "Can we vote out two people?"
The CBS channel was frozen for me :( Now I have to wait until Sunday.
"Whenever you get to talk to Kass.. probably next week" lmao well well well..
Oh my gosh, i nearly died this episode. I really like some of the players though. The brawn and beauty tribes are pretty entertaining. Couldn't believe the brains tribe...poor spencer
I love that Robbb suggested that J'tia may be the mole lol #ding
All star brains vs brawn vs beauty sounds like a great idea!!
After watching it all play out, I'd fell personally offended if I was John Cochran. Jefra said in the beginning that the Brains Tribe looked like the "Cochran" of the game.
Does J'Tia get the Cesty?
How can Spencer get out of this horrific situation?
What about the idea that Kass made the right decision because Garrett had lied to her the previous tribal and proved to be to wishy washy. By getting rid of Garrett she controls her own fate moving forward.
Garrett for Mr.Survivor 2014/2015! hahah
is J'Tia the new Phillip Shepard and is Tony the new and improved Russell Hantz?
Will they rehide the Brain idol?
Spencer is in a bad spot. He's my favorite too
For the idol, wouldn't they re-hide it? they did that in Micronesia when Ozzy left his idol in camp when he was voted out, so they re-hid it on Exile Island because the idol is dead when the owner is voted out.
Dawson vs Woo, compare them in their athlete revealing strategies.
Why is this in recommendations
Kass at confessional says she thought about turning on Garrett but blames him for being paranoid
The "Brains" tribe in this season of Survivor is giving a textbook example of playing the second half of the game before you play the first. David, Spencer, and Kass should have stuck together and aligned in the first vote and voted out Jetia. It snowballed out of control from there. One giant snowball from hell!
Was that fish (fishy fishy) puzzle done in past seasons with 2 puzzle doers rather than one?
Kass was my pick to win pre season. I am so happy I picked her, love that she was so straight up with J'Tia. Hope J'Tia runs off into the jungle and is never heard of again
Garrett is definitely an online poker player, not an in person one (but I bet he mutters what cards he has to himself while playing online)
I feel bad for Spencer. So Brains is going to become Matsing at this rate..
The Brandon Hantz is now a move in Survivor. #smh You two ranting on it, is podcast gold. :) #LOL
Question: who had a worst first episode? JTia or Gervase (last season)?
This episode had some of the most disgraceful gameplay that i've ever seen, between David's choice to say that he was playing until the end of the game without worrying about the first vote, Garrett's idea to have the public forum, Kass for aligning herself with a rice-dumper, and JTia for, well, being a rice-dumper. Anyone who watched Brandon Hantz 2.0 and decided that it was a good way to play should be first boot.
Did Kass think she would be out before Tasha and does that sound accurate in the first place?
I forget the clue Morgan received but if it was in the rock she thought it was, was it removed after Tony found his idol?
Tony found the idol for the brawn tribe and Morgan is on the beauty tribe so that idol is still out there
Oh duh, I guess staying up late and losing sleep to watch surviver know-it-alls wasn't the best idea.
Brandon was booted from Fans vs Favorites 2 for doing just about the same thing as Jtia, only yelling more. Jtia is a time bomb and she is bringing the tribe down
My Tweet made it on the show
Brain Tribe= Masting and Saboga. I hope Spencer survives he has good potential for solid TV
On the point of Garrett's hidden immunity idol.. It will certainly be hid again and a new clue will make its way into the game. I'm fairly certain production plucked the idol along with his belongings before the Brains tribe got back.
What Just Happened!
First nuclear meltdown of survivor history?
Rob - Garrett has admitted that he was a recruit and that he wasn't a fan who watched Survivor.
jtia saved this premier otherwise there is nothing to talk about. she is a star
Unless you are being sarcastic, you are a dumbass.
So, Spencer is screwed... Sadly he was my favorite!
Wow was i wrong!
40:15 - that's why you are the know-it-alls, and David the president of the Miami Marlins.
In terms of dodging the vote, are J'Tia and Tasha the new Ciera (if Ciera were crossbred with Brandon Hantz) and Katie?
Of all survivor meltdowns, where does J'tia's rank?
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. J'Tia crossed it in Episode 1 :)
Y'all laughing at the spy shack now.. can't wait to get to the episode where it actually works lmao
How do you think the beauty tribe would've done in the challenges if they didn't have LJ on their tribe? He dominated the first two puzzles.
I think the Brain tribe is heading down the same path Russell Swan's tribe went down when Malcolm and Denise were the only two left. I could see Kass pulling a Denise and going to every tribal council and then winning the game.
I think they have to make a rule. No dumping out the rice. So strange. Brains were a mess.
Lets say hypothetically I was dumb enough to make J'Tia my preseason winner pick. Should I be upset with her performance or just content she is somehow still in the game?
Definetely upset
she is not yet in the game due to her skills or talent for the game, just simply because people have bigger targets than her
Good job to brawn and (surprisingly) beauty!
Now brains on the other hand.......feel sorry for spencer he's probably next to go though :/
Garrett didn't leave with his bag at tribal council. Does that mean his bag is still at camp? Will they replant the idol?
Why don't people suspect those that want to implement the babysitting strategy of having an immunity idol? I know Phillip didn't have the idol, but I would think by now those that want to implement that strategy would be a target for suspicion of having an idol. If I was playing survivor I would put suspicion on the guy who implements that strategy for having an idol so he'd have a target on his back (anyone but me strategy) and try to get the person blindsided.

If she was voted out, I don't think Garrett would've been able to stay in the game much longer with little rice so she would've got her payback on him.
Did Jeff say this was the Aras tribe he has ever seen... hmmmmm
Why did Kass vote for Garrett?
Which tribe, Brawn or Beauty, do you think is the most stable?
What are your thoughts with the Lindsey and Trish fight? I feel like this argument will play into a future episode.
You predicted the future!
Out of all the conflicts started this week, which unresolved one are you most looking forward to?
What nickname should be give to Woo+Cliff?
Is Tony not the best character right now at this point #spyshack
one of the guys who is thinking strategically and smart enough to think of the note in the reward. but then again we didnt see what the others in brawn were thinking as much, they might also be thinking strategically like him.
This aged will lmao
Thor Johnson hahaha! Thanks! 20 year old me could even see how special Tony was going to be!
If you were on a tribe with another podcaster would you tell him/her that you were one too?
Better couple, Brandon Hantz X J'Tia, Jeremiah X Morgan, or Tony X Trish/Sarah
Are we even sure Stephen Fishbach is still alive?
Kass switched to Tasha cause with Tasha she’s number 2. J’Tia becomes 3 cause they kept losing challenges.
What the heck was that?
You would think brains would be good with puzzles. WTF!
