  • Victory Aircraft Limited was a Canadian manufacturing company that, during the Second World War, built mainly British-designed aircraft under license
    The North Atlantic air ferry route was a series of Air Routes over the North Atlantic Ocean on which aircraft were ferried from the United States and Canada to Great Britain during World War II
    The RAF Ferry Command, formed in July 1941, being reduced to Group status in March 1943 , had the purpose was to deliver ('to ferry') aircraft from the place of manufacture or other non-operational areas, to the front line operational units

    The bravest of friends at work....!....without whom we could NOT have survived.....Many of these brave men were lost out there over the ocean.

    My father was with RAF Ferry Command stationed in Dorval ,Montreal, He flew many planes back to the UK using the North Atlantic route.

      I salute your father. I could only imagine some of the stories that he could tell.
      Such a totally different world of aviation back then.

    A good read it "Fate is the hunter" by Ernst Gahn. Excellent stories. He flew into (Forgive the spelling) Nasarauaq from Canada and onto Iceland.

      It's original 'American' name was Narsarsuaq/Blui West One. So you VERY close for an assumed non-inuit. And it is still in use as a mayor Airport for Southern Greenland. Been there my self.
