Wowwww game 2 of Maru vs Spirit was FIRE. Maru really living up to his reputation as the Cockroach Terran being so hard to kill. Also, that game 1 of Solar vs Oliveira was won by Oliveira more by solar throwing super hard than by Oliveira outplaying him. The Hive snipe was definitely sick, but should never have been possible, massive mistake by solar to let that happen. Also, solar didn't scout the third base landing while the hive snipe happened, which allowed Oliveira to get free mining. We also got to see one of Solar's key weaknesses in the matchup, which is his reluctance to ever go broods or infestors, which are ESPECIALLY strong off the back of roach ravager which force lots of tanks and clumped marines. Overall some minor adjustments by solar turn that game into an easy win. And sick final game! Maru was actually so close to making the 2 base all in work, a couple key mistakes cost him.
If you like really bad mistakes being made by both players. Oliveira had very poor scouting in the early game and failed to identify the roach play, which caused him to almost instantly lose. The only reason he made it back into the game were some even worse mistakes from Solar, such as letting his Hive get sniped due to lack of vision and not scouting Oliveira's third base landing, which he could have denied easily with one roach on hold position under it. Mistakes Do make it exciting cause anything could happen, but frustrating if you're looking for really high level starcraft. I personally thought game 2 was much better cause both players had much tighter play
I dunno man, game 1 was definitely a fluke, solar had him dead and threw the game massively (which is admittedly a very Solar thing to do). That being said, Oliveira did a good job in identifying the only way back into the game was to rely on solar making a couple key mistakes, and then capitalizing on them. Game 2 I would say was more indicative of their relative skill level with fewer mistakes on both sides. Game 3 was certainly convincing for Oliveira, but game 4 was really bad: massive throw from a winning position, and got really outplayed in the late game. Overall, going 2-2 against Solar, who's ZvT is IMO about tied with Reynor for 3rd best behind Serral and Dark, is really not convincing me that Oliveira is even top 5 in the world.
I dont think Oliveira is champion material. Reynor, we just saw, is in really bad shape. Maru being absolute trash in TvT lately, which he has proven today again. And Solar, as mentioned, is just very reluctant to follow through on his correct ideas. He is good, no doubt, but he is nowhere near any of the top players we´ve got to watch the previous decade. I mean... look at this 1:18:21 Can you even think of a single game you have watched where this happened to maru? he literally unable to micro 2 batches a 5 units.
Well, Solar was in good shape, he 2 - 0 Raynor. So all things considered he equals the top win with Solar and brought his team back from a disadvantaged position, this allows Raynor to have a chance to win the match.
@@naga3070 I think Maru's TvT being "absolute trash" is a stretch, but it has certainly gone way downhill since the patch. That being said, the patch affected him the most cause he was the player most reliant on Ravens in TvT, so I think he's still figuring out how to navigate that.
The two base terran method can work, but it depends on your strat.. usually if you plan to do a double base... move... and cut scv production. you do want. at least 1600-2000k income... building two more orbitals in your main for move out spread can work well. The orbitals give you ample scan and mule use. Maru surprised me he was so aggressive since he could of had a various use of walls to operate the system.

Fun format. I hope you cast more of these for us.
More games with Oliveira, please. So much action!
This video really highlights how good PiG is when he’s in control of the observer camera. Best caster, all time, no competition.
Very entertaining. Always has something interesting to say
Total biscuit was better.
He gives me anxiety the way he talks. Emotion is good for a caster but he keeps it too high too long imho.
Spirit bringing Maru down, Oli putting the team on his back for the save and Reynor bringing it home. Such nice games.
I love it but plez dont ruin it for us who haven't seen the vods
Don’t look at comments before watching the videos
that solar vs oliviera game one was great

That championship run wasn't a fluke after all. Amazing game with oli vs solar.

Yeah he's playing great, the confidence boost has done him some favors.
Im impressed by spirit either way
lol "these victories are makin me thirsty", followed by that in-match hydration hype for solar
Great commentary and highlight of players emotions during match

Appreciate your explanation on the rules. Thankful for this tourney.

great games and cast as usual PIG
Why does the supply/mineral and gas numbers sometimes show something like "!@#" for a split second instead of the number?
1:26:57 check Oliviera's supply
The chinese replays always bug out at that number for some reason

though it was expected to happen sooner or later, it still sucks that GSL is running out of funds to support SC2 tournaments.
Olivera is much more confident comparing with when he was on IES
i like simultaneous 4v4 . they don't play like that anymore
I do wish these team leagues had more team games.
GEEGEEE!!! :)
thx..
Great games!
Given the way game balance works at the end of SC2, teams with protosses just have a built in disadvantage
The way he says "Maruu" when he gets exited, sounds like my wife when I talk dirty to her
