Been to Kuredu twice and loved both trips. On our first trip we were kicked out of our O Beach Villa for it to be renovated after 10 nights and ended up in a Sultan Villa for 4 nights. Sadly there is no good house reef at Kuredu which takes the edge off for me a bit. The other thing I have noticed about the changes happening in Maldives resorts are more families, loud music and loud, motorised watersports. You have to look around a lot more these days if you just want the peaceful, quiet, relaxing holidays the Maldives are famed for.
Agree about the reef - also not too happy swimming across the boat/seaplane lane to get to it. Komandoo and Kuramathi have better reefs for snorkelling in my opinion. Where do you recommend? I personally found Constance Moofushi a little small but it was quiet and top quality.
@@peteringram7429 To be honest Peter we were supposed to be in Cuba in 2017 and our hotel got wiped out by Hurricane Irma on the exact day we were due to arrive. Thomas Cook gave us a refund so we took a late deal to Meedhupparu and flew out the following day. It has reefs all around so when the sea is a bit rough on the north side the south side was sheltered and vice versa. It was a bit less refined than the O Resort but for £4000 all in I dont think we lost that much service. We went back the following year and had a great time.
I visit the atoll for the first time, i have a beach villa, in February next year, 12 days. Flight Emirates Prague - Dubai ( with A-380 ) and Dubai - Male ( B-777 ) then the seaplane at Kuredu, back the same. Will you recommend Hurawalhi Undersea Restaurant ? Greets from Prague. Paul.
66Sicca I prefer the beach on the main reception and jetty side of the island and I think that there are beach villas on that side. The other side has baby sharks and rays but not so good for swimming or snorkelling. The A380 is an incredible plane and the seaplane is an experience, noisy and hot but unforgettable. Morning - me and the wife are off to kuredu in 3 weeks time for our anniversary (30 years) stopping in beach villas - have you any good tips for the holiday regarding boat trips,tips,food etc cheers Stuart
stuart 58 Hi Stuart. Kuredu is a great choice. The free sunset cruise is brilliant. We've been twice and saw loads of dolphins both times. The snorkelling's pretty good and very different on both sides. The lagoon side where you snorkel over the sea grass has quite a few turtles...you'll probably see them if you're patient. Snorkelling from the jetty by the main pool is good with lots of tropical fish and a reasonable chance of seeing black tip reef sharks. I would just say be very careful swimming to the first life belts where the reef starts...you're swimming across the boat lane and the seaplane lane. The food is good. All of the buffets have the same food but the views and ambience of the O resort and Sangu restaurants are nicest in my opinion. You have to book these in advance if you're not staying in the O or Sangu resorts. I would say definitely spend some time after dinner at the coffee bar at the end of the jetty. You have to pay for your coffee but the big fish come to the lights....speaking of which you get some massive sharks under the boats moored by the jetty after dark. Take your room torch it's well worth it for the free shark show. Re tipping. We tipped the bag men $5 and the room boy and waiter about $25 each at the end of our holiday. You get the same waiter for your whole holiday at your allocated restaurant. One last tip would be to do the back of house tour which is free. Am in Jersey, which means an extra flight to Gatwick before you can go anywhere - all part of the fun I suppose. Don't know if you've been to Maldives before, but if not it's a great idea to take a change of clothing for the seaplane flight, can be quite sweaty in the seaplane! Also very noisy in seaplane but pilot will hand out free earplugs if you ask. Your luggage doesn't always go in seaplane so I would take enough for three or four hours on island without your suitcase. Last time we went my case came on seaplane but wife's followed a few hours later on next plane - will share suitcases next time rather than one each!
Weather was pretty good. Had a few rain showers but mostly sunny and hot. Not quite as good add March but the weather's pretty good all year round according to the staff. Hope this helps.

Try Reethi Beach deluxe beach villa - just feet from great snorkelling - dine around option is brilliant!
