I know it's been 10 years since you made this video, but it's beautiful. Thank you for sharing the history of this powerful hymn. When I returned to the Lord, it was the Billy Graham videos that I heard this song in. EVERY time people would respond to the alter call with this hymn playing, I would just cry tears of joy. God bless!
I can so relate to this. I have had numerous health issues throughout my 54 years. When I heard the story of the woman who penned the lyrics, Charlotte, it really struck a chord (pun intended). I answered the Holy Spirt's prompting in 1976 at a week long Revival at the church my father pastored in South Louisiana. I was 7 years old. We were hosting an evangelist for a week long revival. Because I had been through some traumatic events (I kept secret from my parents due to threats as well as shame) ai wasn't sure that I was good enough for Jesus...thankfully after talking to my dad and meeting woth the evangelist, I made my decision on the third night. I love Jesus with all my heart and soul. I'm a mother of 6 children and 13 grandchildren. Our middle son died 14 years and 5 months ago. It sent me into a downward spiral of anger, isolation, anxiety, PTSD, and a deep depression that almost cost me my life. I quit seeing my Dr's for 4 years. Quit taking my medication, including insulin (I'm diabetic). During the 4 years after his death, our family went through 15 additional losses, and it seemed like all we were doing was going to funerals. 💔 But God I can relate to this song. I heard the story of the woman who peened the lyrics. I answered the Holy Spirt's prompting in 1976 at a week long Revival at our church. I was 7 years old. I love Jesus with all my heart and soul. He's been with me and relentlessly pursued me through years of chronic illnesses, doubt, backsliding, anger, and self-loathing. He is abounding in love, rich in mercy and grace. I can't wait to see my Savior face to face!!
Thanks for this reading. I've recently become fascinated with the stories behind the hymns. This, like so many others, has a gripping story about a unique individual of faith and strength.
An extremely beautiful, meaningful and emotional song with such lovely words and truly inspirational. "Just as I am without one plea", to be able to come to God just as we are in any condition.. 🛐🛐💜
