Everyone is super upset about this Cambridge Analytica breach, but I’m not sure people know what information was actually stolen. The only information that was taken was things like your name, location and interests.... everyone that has any online profile should expect these basic things to be public knowledge. What is so special about your name? Or your interests? Do you think anyone at Cambridge Analytica personally knows you? We all voluntarily post that information by ourselves!
I just think this situation was blown up a ridiculous level.
What I think is more important is google. They are the ones with the actual private data that I think almost every single person would not want to be public knowledge. Facebook really only knows what you tell it. Think about your browser history. Everyone has those random searches that we wouldn’t want publicly shared. My point here is that everyone is wasting time worrying about information from Facebook, which is 100% controlled by the user. These people’s time could be better spent focusing on platforms with access to actual private information.
Not even Ron Swanson could achieve total privacy in modern America. We compromised total privacy for the convince of the internet.

Ikr, and even if it the information stolen were as irrelevant as you think it is, it’s still information released without the users’ consent, this deserves a lot of recognition as to Facebook’s way of keeping your data.

This was horrible. The people questioning aren’t grasping what Facebook is as a company. As much as I don’t like Facebooks social media service, I am sympathetic to the fact that mark is giving smart answers that aren’t being received.

I just hope everyone who uses Facebook understands that by entering their information and using it agrees to their information being available, it's in the long user agreement most don't look at before using it. Even if you have the settings on private all of your info is available.

When you have an application that uses personal information to sign into other apps, (for example spotify), what is to say the security of the app they signed into has the same security features. No facebook api keys should be used by other apps. The only solution to election control is total shutdown of facebook and other social media in that country while the elections are held. First I heard the IRA where anyway involved in the elections, I didn't know the did health care assessments. This is about laws, society, people, privacy. They don't need to know about A.I or Techs, if you create an AI who controls a missile and the A.I somehow breaks and launches a missile and kills 1k people, who is to blame?
