- In this New York City-set comedy-drama, 16-year-old Craig (Keir Gilchrist of "United States of Tara"), stressed out from the demands of being a teenager, checks himself into a mental health clinic. There he learns that the youth ward is closed -- and finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One of the patients, Bobby (Zach Galifianakis of "The Hangover"), soon becomes both Craig's mentor and protégé. Craig is also drawn to another 16-year-old, Noelle (Emma Roberts of "Valentine's Day"). With a minimum five days' stay imposed on him, Craig is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing up.

it makes me sad that the author of the book commited suicide 7 years after publishing this book. he said that the book explains 85% of his life when going to adult mental hospital. thats why craig is in that place.
I met him at a book stand. He was a very nice guy. I was going to meet up with him at a writer's group. I was surprised to hear he killed himself.
I'm an year late, but wow. I had no idea. I just finished reading the book yesterday and decided to check the trailer out.
Oh my God...
he’s my favourite author :(
Why did he kill himself?
This is one of those movies that my only complaint is that it ends. It's great getting to meet these characters and I loved this movie, and every time I watch it I never want it to end
just watched it
Shane Arnold life goes on and on u dont need to watch someones life make ur own😍😘
Same here.
@@megas5343 Yeah that's fair, this movie just meant a lot to me at the time I made the original comment lol
Where I can watch this movie free?
in all honesty, this book changed my life
*****
It’s the reason I got the courage to check myself in to the Er last year . This book is home.
You read perks of being a wallflower? 🤷🏽♀️same vibe, these books saved me in a way
Weird... While I was in the hospital... Im watching this.. found everything related to my life except for one thing... I never found that someone...
lmao
Welcome to the Real World.
same here
+Project-A Skateboarding well i found theat cute someone while i was in rehab
+Perry Ornitorincu care to tell the story?
the ending of this movie was so spectacular and awesome i cried so much when Craig told us to breathe and live and just let it all free .. give me some kind of hope and closure :')
Noelle's facial scars in the book are a lot deeper. They seem way too faint in this trailer? Anyone agree?
Yeah the movie mad me mad since noelle is supposed to have very noticeable scars
I didn't even register she had them until I read your comment, I thought they were just hairs on her face.
And they're supposed to be from her forehead to her cheek
I couldn't even see scars on her face! In the book she needs a whole surgery for it, while in the movie, it's barely visible!
Bea Navas I can’t even see them
This trailer shows WAAAAAAAY too much
I was thinking the same thing
a lot of trailers today seem to have that problem, where you are given already about half the entire movie before even seeing it and you are automatically able to draw out for yourself the majority of the plot including beginning, middle, and end.
Still a good movie to watch my guy
atleast it doesnt show the humor
I love this book more than anything, I didn't know it was a movie but now I'm so excited to see it!
+Protofl3X "girl, interrupted" is one but its not a comedy its a bit more serious
I just finished watching this movie. It's my favourite movie and I would just like to say there NEEDS to be a sequel
this movie is just amazing. it is sad and touching. it is about something that many people are going trough. i just loved this movie

😊😊
I love this, The book helped me realize there are people out there who may not cut or jump, but were out there and we just dont wanna get out of bed.
It really helped me, I really support it, I'm syched! YEAHHHH
😊😊
This is my favorite book ever and knowing now that I will be hospitalized soon makes it that much better
''I woke up, my bed was on fiiii'h''🔥
a good movie this is.
It has a meaning to it other than being entertaining. It deals with Self-harm with young people, the troubles they have or perceive to have.
This cast was crazy wow, Keir has his own Netflix show, Emma Roberts is a mom now, Viola Davis won an Oscar, Zach Galifianakis created an Emmy winning show
I never cried more to a movie than this one
Saw this movie a day after one of my mental break downs, I felt better after. 😋
😊😊
Can't believe it's been 8 years since the movie came out... I remember like it was yesterday when I saw it in theatres
Sometimes maybe you love the cast so much
You barely care if the the plot or the delivery was nearly a 9/10
When just watching Zach keir and Emma in the same movie just makes up for a solid 9.5/10 for me.
And i was never able to properly explain how indescribably beautiful Emma Roberts is with all that mysterious vibes she radiates.
😊😊😊😊
Favorite movie of all time.
This is one of my favorite books of all time, and the movie looks great. :)
I LOVE Bobby in this, especially. It's great that he seems to have a bit more of a story.
This book changed my life
this movie is really simple... but full of love... i just love it, the songs fit perfect as well. should definitely watch it!!! wont disappoint u!
I absolutely love movies like these
the book is definitely worth the read even though the movie kinda makes it look stupid and mostly based around him getting the girl and checking into the hospital. there's just so much more to it, in my opinion.
Hey I wanna read this book, but is it worth. Coz i dont like romanticism and this is kinda lyk that. How many pages it has? I dont wanna watch the movie coz i didnt like the trailer. so... Should I? i mean what does it offer?
the book is so so much better

The film is okay, the book is way better
Name?
Carlos Wan-lume same fuckin name maybe?
Carlos Wan-lume It's Kind of A Funny Story
Vito Scaletta probably English is not his mother language so maybe you should try to calm down, what you think?
OMG! I LOVED this book. I'm so stoked for the movie!
I hope this lives up to the book because it's one of my favourites
Glad so many movies like this are getting a 2nd chance by being 'recycled' through streaming services. Saw this one was on Prime. Will have to check it out
This has to be the most serious Zach Galifianakis has ever been in a movie.
00:03 The first thing i thought:"OMG THATS SAM"
This movie really made me smile
this film saved my life
Amazing movie.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen
Wouldn't those two make an amazing Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase?
Omg YESSSSSS
Idk about Craig but I can see emma Roberts acting as annabeth
I can see Emma Roberts, but not the dude
Who would you suggest for Percy?
I think there should be some thing were Percy gets sent to the hospital for talking about the gods and monsters or something and he's trying to expane that he's fine
I just watch this movie, it's beautiful and have a meaning story in it, thank you
this has some iconic actors in it
Thank you trailer makers for showing me the entire movie.
i remember this book! loved it!
That brief glance of Lauren Graham in there? Hell yeah I'm watching it.
Literally the best movie ever
this is not how the book was like! it's to different I'm crying! why do they always do that!!!!????
I never read the book but this is a general issue you mentioned there. It is tough to convert a book into a movie. Every reader connects differently to the story. The writers, producers and directors have to find a consensus so readers and non-readers alike can enjoy the movie. Some things don't work as well on screen as they do in a movie so they have to change them. We've seen it in The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and so on.
What I just said isn't specifically about this movie and book but a general statement. As mentioned earlier I didn't read the book but I deeply connected with the film.
+Alexander Turner in the book the girl had cuts on her cheeks and described as being noticeable and distracting, not a single cut. Most of the characters where out of character, different personalities and I'm not usually so picky but this was extremely disappointing
+The Ever Changing Me! Hmm that's a shame actually.
I have the feeling that the story in the book might be more of a struggle. That some characters actually have some serious issues. Because now that I think of it. For a mental institution everything was pretty light hearted. The Perks of Being a Wallflower or even Final Days did a better job of depicting mental issues and loneliness.
I like that they cut the transphobic parts
The Ever Changing Me! I saw cuts on her face!
All I really saw was Thomas Mann hugging that guy!😍
the trailer doesn't do the movie any justice. the movie is actually great
A very under rated drama flick disguised as a comedy. Great casting by the way, Zack is Amazing in this film I got vibes sort of from Someone Flew Of The Cuckoo's Nest. .

life is always better when u got a beautiful grl or woman cheering u on..
Find the scene where they sing Bowie/Queen song, it's on UA-cam. One of my favorite movie scenes and when I want to cheer up, I'd watch it. Now with David Bowie sudden death, I see many people have pulled it up.
I saw this and l miss being in the hospital sometimes because some of the time there was that kind of fun but the pain wasn’t worth it. But I love the movie
It`ll Come to ya

good book
I was never put in a mental institute for my depression, but there were times when it might have been for the best. I would stop eating, literally just lay in bed or on the ground, not talking for hours or sometimes days. I forgot how to smile, how to laugh, how to talk to people. I looked dead and I felt dead. And this boy is supposed to have been instatutionalized for being depressed? seriously?
I totally agree with you. In fact, I am there myself. I've never been put in a mental institute either but sometimes I wish I would have been. Here I am, still trying to figure out why the fuck I'm so messed up and I try my best not to literally fall apart and then I see trailers like this that basically tells that depression is nothing. Well, I hope you feel better now. Take care.
In the book he’s often in a state like that. THe author was hospitalized and depressed as well, the real story doesn’t Romanticize depression. I think you’ve misinterpreted
SPOILERS! In the actual story the boy often doesn't sleep because of the things going on in his mind, he often can't eat as well because he throws it back up, then he decides that he's going to kill himself but calls the suicide hotline instead and then checks himself into the ER. Book is way better.
