stumbled across Dax Johnson when I was searching for a Josh Groban song. they had actually put Josh's lyrics to Dax's Rain..I say stumbled across but perhaps it wasn't a mistake. I think it was meant for me to hear Dax, so that I could have a peaceful place to go to when I need it and I go there often...
this is just amazing! I cant even discribe it! its just....wow O.O I started liking the piano when I was 10, and...I couldn't stop listening to it, its like a part of my life now, I couldn't live without it.
05/19/2017 +JAY65013 Drug overdose. I am listening to this song as I write. I am experiencing chills and goosebumps due to the absolute beauty of this music; so crisp, clean and clear. As you know, UA-cam has a habit of taking down submissions and one of those taken down, which was dedicated to Dax and this song incorrectly titled "Zavior," had a comment entered by a female who wrote, "In 17 seconds [of listening to this song], I knew I was in love with Dax." I cannot imagine anyone not being moved by his music. Why is it incorrectly titled, you ask? Because this song is dedicated to Dax's son and his son's name is spelled Zavyur. There are a number of typos (Covers created by others, not Dax?) on Dax's CD covers and I don't think this instance was intentional. I stumbled upon the works of Dax on a Friday evening, June 25, 2010, somewhere between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM. I instantly became enthusiastic over his music and him. When I discover someone or something I find interesting, I go to great lengths through research in order to learn as much about the person or topic as I possibly can. I have saved a lot of material on him to include some pictures gained from a website established for people to become better acquainted with him and to order CDs of his music, while supplies last. I was shocked and deeply saddened when I learned that Dax had died five years earlier, having died on November 23, 2005. In my mind, I see a big man with long, stringy hair who was dirty and disheveled being hoisted from an alleyway onto a gurney and into an ambulance to be taken to a medical facility. The doctors and the medical staff likely didn't know who he was nor the talent he possessed. Very sad. Since 2010, I think of Dax days prior to Thanksgiving.
05/19/2017 +Georgia Dawg I was prevented from posting my FULL reply so, I'll try to continue my comment in pieces. May have to wait until tomorrow for additional posts. Continuation: From what I have gained, Dax (His full name was/is Christopher (Dax) Johnson.) suffered from ... Well, let me insert some information I gleaned from other sources but, I will paraphrase it. Tom (Dax's dad): "My wife's cell phone rang and we received the phone call that all parents fear. Our son was in the emergency room, his brain activity was undetectable, his body sustained with a ventilator, and drugs were the suspected culprit. Over the next 6 hours we notified family members and, at two o'clock in the morning, Dr Chin from Harbor UCLA, 1000 W. Carson Street, Torrance, California, called us stating that they had exhausted all available treatment and Dax was gone; Dax the manic depressive, Dax the addict and, in the end, Dax the believer." [Dax was very religious, a Christian, as I suspect his whole family is as well. You can detect Christian influence upon his music. Just listen to "Hezekiah" and "A Search for Significance" in his first album, "Merciful Dwelling," and others. To my knowledge, Dax made 5 albums, the Christmas album is unobtainable and another may be out of stock. We are now forced to buy the digital formats online.] Tom's continuation: "Manic depression also known as bipolar disorder is a disease where, when people aren't under the influence of the disease, they are at their very best. Think of the shape of an egg with the pointed end at the top; this is where people are when they are at their best, their otherwise normal selves. However, they spend most of their time at the bottom, wider portion of the egg under the affects of the disease. Of thousands of quotes from manic depressive people, one woman offered a rather typical explanation given by others of her experience; she says, "I can't keep a job. I cannot consistently meet the needs of my family but, I have an IQ of a hundred and fifty-one (151). I'm supposedly smarter than 98% of the population but, I can't seem to get it together enough to make a regular contribution."" For more information on bipolar disorder go to: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_disorder Tom's continuation: "When he was fifteen, Dax was diagnosed as a rapid cycling, manic depressive. Dax, once, spent two weeks in jail for failing to appear (traffic violation) and, while he was incarcerated, thought-out a song, my favorite, "Pet the Freak." [Tom had for a period of time believed that he, Tom, was the freak Dax referred to in the song as he and Dax were at odds sometimes. When Dax learned of his dad's interpretation of the song, Dax corrected him saying that it was he, Dax, who was the freak in the song.] Remember that the, above, is paraphrased from some excerpts I've read and have on file mixed with some information I have learned. Information such as, Dax sometimes treated his bipolar condition by taking illegal drugs. When I think of artists, I think of starving artists as they, generally, don't have a steady income and cannot afford things like, well health insurance for one. Illegal drugs are affordable and obtainable but not drugs prescribed by doctors because ... you have to be able to afford doctors. Gee, wouldn't a single-payer, national, health insurance been nice to have had from the early 1990s to the present day? With health insurance and under a doctor's care, maybe Dax wouldn't have been enticed to experiment with drugs. Who knows? Well, I have written too much. UA-cam (Google) will, likely bar me for too much 'rite-in.' Dax's #1 Fan Georgia Dawg (#1 Wanna' fight about it. ;-D )
Admirable la emoción que le imprimía a todas sus composiciones... todas producen una especie de tristeza y a su vez una belleza imposible de explicar con palabras.
I can't say that i know exactly how you feel, but my father died when i was very young. 13 years ago today, but at least our fathers left us with something.
Zavyur Johnson So many of us (many, many of us) miss him. His candle was bright and burned out way too early. Sometimes, we have to accept that there is no justice in this world. So it was with your Dad, you and your family.
Part 1 of 4 (1/4) It was on the evening of June 25th, 2010 when I chanced upon the music of Dax Johnson via YT and have been a huge fan ever since. I thought to myself, "Who is this wonderful pianist!" I had to know more about him. So, I conducted an exhaustive, Internet research on him and, from what I have gathered, Dax suffered from depression for which he self-medicated using heroin. Dax died from an overdose of heroin in LA, CA on November 23rd, 2005.
.. How Dax Johnson died ? I love this song it touch my heart, simply. Sorry for my english Dax johnson est comme Dieu en mieux. Il sera toujours vivant pour moi.

I am just becoming familiar with Dax Johnson's music. I really like this song and Child's garden. Anyone have any other recommendations for his music that you think are great songs?
3/4 Dax remained in LA for days/weeks, became addicted to the stronger, white heroin living on the streets of LA, and eventually succumbed to a strong dose of it. He was rushed to a hospital and where he died. I often visualize doctors and nurses trying to save a disheveled, dirty, long-haired, hippy-type bum not knowing the genius in their presence, an extremely sad scenario.
1 of 2 Dear Zavyur, I have had the pleasure of corresponding with your grandfather; he contacted me! He helped me in ordering some CD recordings of your father's music a month or two ago. I, now, own all four of his CDs, the Christmas special being the only exception. I paid a lot of money in order to acquire your father's first two CDs via two resellers. Ordering via your father's web site is much more friendlier to my bank account ;) and I am thrilled to have been able to do so.
Does anyone have the sheet music of this song or another? I would like to honor Dax in my own way; by playing his music. I hope that people will keep listening and playing his music so Dax and his great talent will never get lost and live on forever...
@Carnivoru ... That's weird what you're saying. He didn't write any sheet music 'cause he couldn't read sheet music himself. Sheet music created by one artist is just the base for another.

2/4 There are other interesting tidbits about him but, you asked how he died. About a year ago after viewing a documentary, I learned of the popularity of "brown heroin" in the north-western part of the U.S. (Dax's home area) and of its lower purity/strength than "white heroin." My theory is that Dax used brown heroin to "treat" himself and during a visit further south, LA, and needing "treatment", he purchased and used "white heroin" which is significantly stronger than the brown version.

God must have been jealous.
Why the dislike...just why?
Theres a dislike...why???
@lovedfiend4eva Haha Yeah, look's like it...
in not joking who the freak would laugh at me saying he was my dad cuz he actually is
Not really. Though it is almost similar.
Anyone can make a claim like yours. If you truly are Zavyur Daxx Johnson, prove it. Because "your Dad's" CDs can no longer be purchased and I don't understand iTunes (too old), provide me a link where I can purchases his CDs. I had to pay $65 + S/H for Merciful Dwelling and $165 + S/H for Random & the Purpose off the Net. I want his CDs. I want photographs of him. I want posters of him. I remain in awe of him and his work. I don't believe in gods but, Dax is as near a God to me than anything.
I couldn't have said it any other way. (Except I do believe in God, so I probably would say that there is one. xD)

It's actually Zavyur, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Dude, Dax Johnson is dead. Show the guy a little respect and come here to listen to his music, not to spew your idiocy in hopes for a few laughs.
Does anybody know where can I find the sheet music of this? Thank you
Does anyone have a source for the sheet music of this piece?
Drackore It would have to be someone writing it themselves. Dax never wrote sheet music, even for himself.
Murkrai Wow, really? I didn't know that, that's quite an eye-opener. Thanks! :)
