Couple thoughts and one fact: A little speech and less video of sanding would improve this video; you probably don't have to do the inside of the visor unless you've been particularly careless with it; and, when switching between polish compound grits, use a new foam buffing wheel, and then put each one in a bag labelled with the grit you used.

+Mikkellol160 absolutely! Google it and you'll see its a common fix. Works with plastics and the crystal on watch faces. After every ride, I slather on about a spoon of toothpaste and work it in circles. Rinse off with warm water and it's crystal clear. Only takes a few minutes and it's way faster...
+Izz Modizz If the visor it's made from colored plastic it is ok, but if its just a protective coat or a smoked film it will ruin it..... I hope it helps :).... if you have other questions I'm happy to answer them
Your video was very spot-on. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Any recommendations for a final clear coat? I am going to follow your advice, the windscreen on my 96 Seca Ii needs to be polished. I hope to get the same results.
Good video, but difficult to know how exactly you did it without detailed instructions. Would you please give them, so that I could follow the exact same procedure you did? Thanks!
+Luis Bergantino Well, you have to start with a rougher grit, like 800, 1000 grit depending how bed it's your visor and you will progress through grits until you reach 3000 or finer. After that you will dry the visor with a rag and than you will start to polish, and again from rougher polish compound to fine polish compound. If you want to add an extra protection, after you sanded the visor you can apply 2 to 3 layers of clear coat, and after the clear coat has dryed really good you can sand with 3000 grit wet sandpaper and than you can polish it. I hope it helps :)
Thanks a lot for your explanation. One more question. Do you handle the water sandpaper differently according to their grit? Once again Paul, thanks!...
+Luis Bergantino I dont know if I understand corectly the question, but with every grit You have to sand in circular motin, you start with the rougher grit to remove the than You use a finer grit to remove the scratches from the grit before, until You end with 3000 grit or finer
@@pauliascau they meant, do you put less pressure the higher you go up through the wet n dry papers....and one other thing you should note is the sound, that's when you know you're doing a good job when the sound starts to get high pitched. I'm at the point where I've done the wet n dry, then I applied a diamond wax and polish, still got minor scratches but they're in circle patterns and I'm trying to think what to do next... I have a can of Bike Spirits polish but not sure whether it'll work to get the swirls out or whether it's too light, it's a polish, not a rubbing compound 😕
well, the first step is sanding the visor with wet sand paper, you can use water or soapy water so the sand paper slides more easely, then when you finished sanding process, you need to dry the visor and then you can start the polishing processs.
+Clifford Winston Yes! You go up to 3000 grit maybe even 4000 grit, this will make the polish process easier. P.S. Dont forget to use water when you are sanding!!!!!
+Clifford Winston Hi! You start with 1000 grit, then when it looks even, you begin with 2000 grit, then when you removed the sanding scraches from the privious grit you go up to 2500 grit and then to 3000 grit. I hope this will help
+richard joseph higher like 2500 or 3000 ...and rough grit polish ... if you want you can than use medium and than fine .... I used just rough grit polish and it was ok
with every you use you have to remve the scratches from the previous grit until you reach 3000 or 4000 grit and just then you can polish otherwise you end up with a crappy job
TheBubbles069 What are you talking about? It costs at least $50 for a replacement visor for my helmet. Don't know what kind of toothpaste you're using...
+Chas Madden Yes. it works because it has abrasives in it like sodium bicarbonate and also the beauty of it is that toothpaste is cheaper than polish compound
+Clifford Winston I used polish compound and run it with a pad on the orbital sander. But if you dont have, you can use a piece of clean and dry rag and some toothpaste. It's not so fast but it works!

Didnt have this grit, but .5 & .25 diamond paste (for lapidary), works really really well!!!!
Like its been said, you have to remove every single bit of previous grit to polish..the slightest amount from a previous grit will just make it worse
great wideo! but what is the clear coat, some kind of paste ? question might be silly bu I will be doing this first time ever, thanks
Thanks! it is polishing compound used for automotive paints
Next time, try toothpaste instead. It's a mild abrasive. I just rub it in circles, then rinse off. Takes a few minutes and removes all my scratches...

+Mikkellol160 lmao. I was about to do it, but you saved me man!
+MichaelTechGaming lol
Really?
can i know, are it also can do for smoke visor to?? or it just effective for clear visor only? rely appreciate for your comment for help me tq..
+Izz Modizz If the visor it's made from colored plastic it is ok, but if its just a protective coat or a smoked film it will ruin it..... I hope it helps :).... if you have other questions I'm happy to answer them
+Paul Iascau's studio thanks lot for your adviser, i rely appreciate!! thanks a lot again.
you may be a professional having those things..from where will i get that sander
U can do it with a screwdriver and a polishing head
i buff my visor with polish compound and still blurry, what do i use or do to make it clear?
You have to use a finishing polish at the and to make it clear
After polishing, do you put anything to protect it? like a clear coat, or something? Thanks
No, I just polished it.
Your video was very spot-on. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Any recommendations for a final clear coat? I am going to follow your advice, the windscreen on my 96 Seca Ii needs to be polished. I hope to get the same results.
if you want to put a clear coat on it, you need to use first a plastic primer and then you can put the clear coat on
Thanks!!
You're welcome!!!
can I get this service done from you?
I think we are far from each other, I live in Romania.
Was the sander you used a polisher? Or an orbital sander?
Cody Chinothai I have a polisher but I used the orbital sander
Grade of orbital sander buffing wheel garade
nice, thank you

You are awesome please i have many scratched visor please help me
So what's the step process? What's in the water when your hiring it with the pad?

+Paul Iascau's studio I'm sanding it by hand with a 1000 grit paper. it's looking horrible. do I need to go up or down in grit?
+Clifford Winston You have to go up, from 1000 to 3000 even 4000 grit
O wow so I should purchase the buffer first?
you can find pads the goes on a drill
so do I start with a low grit like 1k then go up? mines is looking horrible right now but I haven't tried it with 2k yet
+Clifford Winston Yes! You go up to 3000 grit maybe even 4000 grit, this will make the polish process easier.
P.S. Dont forget to use water when you are sanding!!!!!
What did you use
2000 and 3000 grit sandpaper, polish compound, and a polisher
how will I know it's time to progress to the next higher grit?
+Clifford Winston Hi! You start with 1000 grit, then when it looks even, you begin with 2000 grit, then when you removed the sanding scraches from the privious grit you go up to 2500 grit and then to 3000 grit. I hope this will help
+Paul Iascau's studio sure did. I was worried but it helped
:)
How much will it cost for you to repair my helmet visor, please? No one sales my visor anymore.
Thanks, I was able to find a replacement.
can I just use 1000 then car polish?
It's a bit to rough
+pauldanidp higher than 1000 or lower? tnx and also what kind of car polish to use :)
+richard joseph higher like 2500 or 3000 ...and rough grit polish ... if you want you can than use medium and than fine .... I used just rough grit polish and it was ok
+pauldanidp tnx!
You're welcome!
does it work with a tinted visor @pauldanipd
+Haffiz Kimi I dont think so
can i use a normal car polish kit.?
yes....It should work
they make plastic polish. I have used mothers on my motorcycle face shield it does okay
Didn’t use any chemical cleaners huh?
Only dish soap, you can get cracks in the visor with some chemicals
Tlg dijelaskan pula peralatan n bahannya kak
is this glass or hard plastic?????
it's not glass, I think it's polycarbonate or plastic and is very hard
oh I see. I will try this to my helmet Visor if it's hard plastic. :)
The sandpaper even f'd up my visor more.. Car polish didnt do anything! Smh
Ozi Ali B you're doing it wrong then, high grit, low pressure, high speed, rotary motion. I used to remove scratches and polish cars for a living.
What Enzo said, Make sure you're using high grit.
what grit have you used?
with every you use you have to remve the scratches from the previous grit until you reach 3000 or 4000 grit and just then you can polish otherwise you end up with a crappy job
Sand paper
Lokasi dimana
Romania
Ginawa ko sa visor ko yan pero lalong lumala 🙁🙁
😂😂😂😂😂
ngawaduk sia mah kehed, malah burem atuh
Ya yg bener atuh akang, dari 1000-2000-3000
Baru pake compound 3000 keatas
Bhai itna karne ki kya jarrot hai visor glass ko shampoo se wash karo aur uss pe light hair oil laga ke.Tissue paper ya microfiber se saaf karo.Try it
I'm sorry, but I don't understand
cheaper and easier to buy a new one
TheBubbles069 not if they don't sell them any more for that particular helmet
TheBubbles069 What are you talking about? It costs at least $50 for a replacement visor for my helmet. Don't know what kind of toothpaste you're using...
at my place only 2US$ for new visor
@pauldanidp
Toothpaste works!
+Chas Madden Yes. it works because it has abrasives in it like sodium bicarbonate and also the beauty of it is that toothpaste is cheaper than polish compound
it really does work? what did you run the toothpaste in with?
+Clifford Winston I used polish compound and run it with a pad on the orbital sander. But if you dont have, you can use a piece of clean and dry rag and some toothpaste. It's not so fast but it works!
+Clifford Winston Toothpaste and dishwashing sponge the softer one works like majik :)
+Nash Cuyo :)
Don't take up teaching 😢
