I would like to know what is Samsung watch 4 - 5 lacking in terms of sport apps, functions, vs Fenix series.... I have both 4 and Fenix 5 Plus.... but use them only for biking (Strava mainly). So Galaxy watch 4 is more than enough for this stuff....
I have a Garmin Instinct and it is a great GPS watch, but I I love Garmin's battery life, I get 7 days on mine. I I hate having to charge a watch daily. Great review
As a guy who lives in Manhattan, I can definitely say that all GPS data is off a bit. That's due to all of the tall buildings messing it up. We're used to it but folks just passing through can be put off by it, especially in their cars.
This is a great review! I just bought the Fitbit Versa 4 and recently came accross this in a FB group I'm in. Ive decided to switch to this Venu SQ series and return my fitbit because it seems this has more bang for your buck and can do more than the Versa 4 based on this review and my research!
I just got my daughter the Garmen instinct solar watch. She seems to like it quite a bit. She hikes, skis, mountain bikes. It doesn't have music but she carries her phone wherever she goes.
Liked your video. Two questions. Compared with the Galaxy watch (solt at Costco) I am very interested in 3 functions: heart rate, stress levels and breathing habits. Would you be able to provide more on these topics? Thx.
Thank you for mentioning the lack of altimeter. The Strava app on my phone shows the elevation gain when the run involves enough uphills/downhills and I always feel this to be useful. I wonder if there is a way to do something similar with SQ 2 using the terrain information from the maps.
Have you noticied it watch having particularly loud vibrations for alerts? I've read some reviews that say that the vibration is more of an audio alert rather than a haptic one, and for them it was a big annoyance. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks, Mike!
@@mr.chilll5179 Actually I am quite happy, Am very impressed with battery life - 2 weeks, Mostly use the Sleep app, Body battery app. Heart monitor pretty good, but when compared to my chest strap - it takes a few xtra seconds longer to respond to dramatic heart rate changes, (HIIT on treadmill - ) It does a lot more than I really need (or use)
I used it for a while to substitute my old vivoactive HR. I used them basically for swimming. However, I still feel it easy to control where I want to stop the laps with vivoactive HR than Venu SQ2, with which you can only pause but not end the laps to see the summary. I have also fitbit sense. As comparison, I feel Garmin make it better in analysis for the swimming than fitbit.
Any Garmin watches recommendations for my father (58M) who isn’t into exercise (although i really push him to do so), and more on tracking health status such ECG, etc.
I agree will be interesting but I think Garmin's last longer than Fitbits that break and need replacing. A shame that the Venu music is such a premium on top. I don't think that Fitbit however have this functionality to play offline music/podcasts.
Hello Mike. Can it control the music playing on the phone ? I want a watch that will take the need to pull out the phone when i want to change track, pause music etc... I use my phone with wired headphone to listen to music and want a Watch that can be use as a remote control. Thank you
I’m looking for an in-depth health & fitness watch, and your video really help me with the features on the Venu 2; at least enuf to go look at one in a shop. Also like the square face and that it does - or can - just look like an ordinary watch. Thanks Mike. (Hv sub’d ! )
you keep comparing it to Galaxy watch 5 but that watch lasted 15h with the default settings. Also how does it fair against something like Huawei GT3 Pro as they are in similar price range
Hi Mike, First of all thanks a lot for the detailed review. I am the new user of the smart watch and am interested to buy the Venu Sq or Venu Sq2 series. Mainly I am looking to measure or monitor my fitness like regular walking, hiking in the mountains and sport like badminton, stress and heart rate monitor. Can you please recommend the best one based on the experience? I have seen few things from Venu SQ2 like elevation and floor counts are not possible. I think steps count during my walking and hiking in the mountain is possible. Please correct me in case am wrong. I am looking for your inputs to buy the smart watch.
if you have more than 1 watch does the data on garmin connect amalgamate or is it listed separately for each watch.? binge watching to make a choice lol
What a pity that the watch has no barometric altimeter! Except for that, the watch would definitely convince me to switch from my Fitbit Versa 2 to Garmin instead of upgrading to the Versa 4.
Hello sir! I have a question: why is a barometric altimeter so important to be in a smartwatch? I am asking because you are not the first person who points this out, but for me it has never been that important (I use my watch for running and when I go to the gym, probably I will start going to the swimming pool soon, but not sure...). Maybe I am just missing something, so I asked just to sort this out for myself :) Thanks a lot and have a nice day!
@@DrawMeAParadox Hi, for me this sensor would add value when tracking hikes in the mountains. Additionally to the height differences extracted from the GPS data, one would have data from another sensor making it probably more accurate. For me it is very interesting to have reliable altitude data. but your right, for gym activities or running it might not be that important.
Thanks for the review. My only issue is that it looks cheap.. probably because its fairly bulbous like a child's toy. I'm pretty casual so ended up getting a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic for around $120, almost $100 less. However, if I was seriously into tracking my health, I'd possibly reconsider. I might look up accuracy comparisons between the two.
I have the Garmin Venu and am extremely disappointed with the sleep accuracy. They told me it's due to having a high physical level with an "abnormally" low resting heart rate. I don't believe that to be true. Do you find the sleep tracking to be accurate? This is my biggest hesitation for buying. I also dislike that there isn't a boxing feature, but I did find a decent app for that. Thanks Mike!
@nikhilnaik3492 maybe but it is necessary to be healthy. I have to exercise. My rest heart rate is in the high 40s up to 52. It occasionally will be at 54 but rarely. I still think it's unrealistic.
Sounds like you're the sheep considering you're avoiding an entire shape because of 1 company who wasn't even the first to make a square watch. 😂😂 Let ppl enjoy what they enjoy & quit the name calling like a 13 year old mean girl

Also, can all the fitness crap be turned off or does it run automatically throughout the day? It humors me to see all these "fitness" devices when majority of this country is super fat and lazy 😂
the apple watch ultra is sucha pointless device, they are trying to aim at the "professionals" while ignoring the fact that most of them are gonna pick a garmin(not necessarily this one)
It is not a recommended smartwatch. Its original watchfaces are disappeared, the downloaded watchfaces are not having its name or identification and therefore it is difficult when you need to delete it. It is not a good smartwatch
What do you think of it?

Ugh, it's still sporting the proprietary Garmin connector for recharging... They might as well have put on a micro USB connector. 🙄
Awesome review. I am thinking of buying it for my gf bday, but in doubt withing SQ 2, Venu 2S or Vivoactive 4/4s.. any suggestions ? 😊

How are you liking it so far?
I'm seriously considering this watch thanks for the video
Would really love to see a cheap comparison with the flagship offerings. Garmin, Samsung and apple (in that 250-300ish price range)
I only say cheap because the top price for watches from these companies is getting out of hand lol
The main things I’d want compared: battery, health features, Ease-of-use and accuracy
Same here. Especially a comparison between the SQ2 and the SE2022!

The vibrations for goal achievements are stronger than the ones used for alarms. I wish it had one strong one for alarms.
It's not that strong at all.

What is the difference between Venu SQ 2 and Venu 2? Which one do you recommend between these them?
I think the main difference is the heart sensor which is much better in SQ 2.
For the fitness activity options on this watch, is rowing included? I am having a challenging time finding watches that can be used for rowing.

I've just realized that between interface laps, there is so much lagging. Am I right?
Can you pls tell me if it has in the list of sports climbing and climbing outdoor? If not, can you add a sport?
That interface is slightly too laggy. I would trade a days worth of battery for a more fluid interface experience.
