Hi guys! For an introduction to the Betterpress and a review, you can start watching at 00:25 To go straight to the crafting go to 13:44 Let me know if you have any questions about this new tool!
If you buy the Betterpress 8 1/2 x 11 package and cut it to an A2 size card you can get 100 A2 card fronts at 40 cents each. The A2 precut panels are 52 cents each. Your presentation is great. I too, have tried other card stock.
Beautiful card! Thanks for sharing the hack you discovered! I really appreciate it because both the cost and limited colors of the papers have made me hesitant about purchasing the Betterpress. I did want to clarify though what you said in the video about watercolor paper. It is actually the opposite: hot press is smooth and cold press is textured. Think of it like a clothes iron-- a hot iron makes the fabric smooth and a cold iron will leave it wrinkled (or bumpy in the case of paper). That's how I always remember which is which. Thanks again, I always enjoy your cards and videos.
I am with Kari on this. I appreciate the hack a lot. I too have been hesitant cause of the cost and limited color choices but between your video and Jennifer McGuires I am becoming more open to ita purchase.
I'm so happy to hear that. ☺️ I've had so much fun with the Betterpress already, I completely understand the drawbacks but I think like most new tools, there are so many things we can still discover with it 😍 I just get very excited about that.
I rub a tealight over back of vellum, to condition and help stretch the fibres , so it won't crack when using in embossing folders etc. You could add a sheet of wax paper under it too. Some use a tumble dryer sheet, but I find they trigger asthma attacks, and some boxes have health warnings now, depending on where you live. Thanks for your ideas. I still have the Go Press and foil, I feel daft in that I did not know it did letterpress and foiling, I only used it for foiling sentiments on parchment art cards. It has came back out the cupboard now there are better foils and more plates available. I want to buy all the typewriter style font sentiment plates I can afford after Chrimbo is over. Thanks again for inspiration, I love videos that help bring new life to old unused products we already have.
Absolutely brilliant hack Thanks for sharing. One small correction it is. Hot press, watercolor paper. That is the smoothest, not cold press. I’m waiting for my Betterpress to arrive. Can’t wait to try your technique.
Yes! Thanks for the correction, I caught it when I was uploading the video but there's no way to change it. I've put a note in the description but I know that's not as noticeable. 😅 have fun with the betterpress 🥰🥰
I skipped straight to the crafting part so sorry if I comment on something you already commented on. I've ordered the better press and it's on it's way, so super stoked for that. The paper (100% cotton) from spellbinders was definitely a sticker shock 😲item for me. I went to our local paper distributor to see if there was anyway I could get this specialized paper at a better price. After the owner listened to my paper woes, she informed me that 100% cotton paper is super expensive, it's also what our money is printed on. Anyone who buys it automatically goes on the FBI watch list. 😒 She said 118lb is not the same as money, but it has no wood in it and there is just no way to get it cheap. You get what you get I guess. ha ha Anyway! Thanks for all of tips and ideas of how we can use what we already have and still get a great look! Your peach card looks FAB
There's absolutely cheaper 100% cotton watercolor cardstock. (But it's true, cotton cardstock is always going to be pretty expensive, and again, it's not going to be so super smooth as the Betterpress cardstock, but it will also give you a stunning result!) But yeah, I think you can make do with what you have, it's the whole point of me making this video! I'm definitely saving the Betterpress cardstock for special projects, that's for sure! 😂
Great video! I stumbled upon your channel, looking for Better Press information. I was very impressed with the tips and tricks given! I am now a new subscriber and will be checking out your other videos! Greetings from Michigan! 😊
Altenew are makings plates for them too now. There are still some Couture creations plates available, but I don't know if they work in Betterpress, you can also use thin dies in the Go Press and foil version, you just use a metal shim between the die and top plate. I'm sure someone will have tried this .
Thank you so much for your Video! Your insight is very appreciated. Please could you tell me What name and company is the Gold Hello is from??? I Love the font! Thanks.
So happy you enjoyed the video! Of course, the Hello die is from Spellbinders as well. It's from this die set: shrsl.com/45e2u There's also a coordinating hot foil plate: shrsl.com/45e2v (these are affiliate links, if you shop through these links, I will get a small commission at no extra cost to you).
Thanks I just got my Betterpress system and was wondering what the difference was between the two seemingly identical sentiments. It’s not obvious when they are backwards. And thanks for the hack!
Lien - I just came across your channel and I’m so glad. First of all your card is just lovely. I really appreciate the information you’ve given in reference to the ‘Spellbinders Letter Press’. I’ve been wanting to purchase one but like you’ve mentioned the cost of the specific paper is also cost prohibited for me. But now I have more options. Thank you
This, more than any other video I've watched, may convince me. Some of the plates are so gorgeous. If the quality of plates continues in the style of this one, I might get it. Thanks for your experimenting and sharing. Going to see if you've done a foiling video with these plates as well. Thanks for the video.
Oh thank you! That's such a nice thing to say. I'm hoping to foil with these plates soon, I've been so swamped with other videos! Definitely making foiling with betterpress plates a priority for the near future! ❤️
Thanks for all the information. I got my system today, and I also purchased several plates too! Thank you sooooo much for this amazing hack! I’ll definitely be trying that that out myself. Gorgeous card too!
Thank you for the information. Well done. Also maybe instead of tossing the black you could try adding yellow to it. Yellow snd black generally make a lovely olive very rich if the yellow is not to strong
I loved the suggestion of the paper towel and wetting the card stock. I used reg cardstock and used a sheet of paper for s shim but I think the paper towel idea is better. I have also experimented with other inks so that I could color with alcohol markers and it worked pretty good. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing this video with all your thoughts and ideas about the better press. I just got one so the tips will be very helpful. Your card turned out beautiful as well!
So happy to see this video and your lovely cards. I bought the Betterpress kit because I’ve always loved letterpress. Letterpress is truly the gold standard of printing, and for years I listed after a tabletop printing press to try letterpress… they are often antiques and quite costly for a hobby. Betterpress is truly making this lovely art form available to hobbyists! Yay! I’d like to know if you can feed a folded card through the Betterpress allowing for a front print as well as an inside sentiment? Or is it only possible to send a single panel through? Thanks a bunch!
Wow! What an amazingly clever hack! Thank goodness for crafters like you! The cost of the (very beautiful) Spellbinders cardstock has left me unwilling to do almost any experimentation, which is a shame. I love your hack will allow me to play with all my cardstock colors. This also opens up the option to use alcohol marker friendly cardstock (with the use of a different ink). As someone who doesn't use watercolors or colored pencils often this is very exciting. P.S. I noticed that your Platen is become etched with your BetterPress plate images, which is also happening to me. I don't see this happening in Spellbinders or other crafters videos and I was starting to wonder if it was just me!
The platen definitely gets marked a little, I've heard this from a lot more people. I think you should only remove one of the shims if you can really feel an impression in your platen. I'm so happy you enjoyed the video! ❤️
Oh thank you so much! Yes, I know a lot of the press plates are out of stock right now, but I'm sure Spellbinders is doing all they can. Lots of people are waiting very impatiently 🤣🤣
Oh thank you! And I haven't used prismacolors before 😅But there are a lot of comparison videos talking about the differences between the two if you want to get a detailed overview. ❤❤
Interesting text - I watched a video earlier and thought it was a shame that in the uk that sentiment is no good because it wasn’t spelled correctly. Yours has the correct spelling so I’m assuming they’ve made an English version and an American English version? It must depend on where you purchase it

Thank you great video and I learned a lot! Loved the card!

Thanks so much! So happy you like it 😊❤️
Also, I can’t wait to try that hack. I had been wondering about wetting back of card stock but that paper towel trick was brilliant!
Thank you so much, so happy you like it!
Thank you for this very helpful and wonderful video hack on the Better Press. Your cards are beautiful.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much!

I use cold press watercolor paper.
Great video! I stumbled upon your channel, looking for Better Press information. I was very impressed with the tips and tricks given! I am now a new subscriber and will be checking out your other videos! Greetings from Michigan! 😊
When will spellbinders make MORE plates!? We need more!

I'm so happy you like it, Joan 😍 other letterpress cardstock sounds exciting but I wanted to try it with things that are already in my craftroom 😊
Great hack!
Oh thank you so much!! I hope it helps 🥰
Beautiful card. Thank you.
That was awesome. Thank you
Thank you so much! So happy you liked it! ❤️
You have that reversed! Cold press has texture and hot press is smoot.
Smooth.

So 80+ lb cardstock will work, yes? Thank you so much for doing this.
Yes, most of the colored cardstock I use is Concord & 9th and that's 80lb. Have fun!
Hi
Can you tell me where I can get the Hello die you used?🤩
Hi Carolyn, so sorry for the late reply. This hello die is from the Wonderful Script Sentiments set by Spellbinders. Here's a link: shrsl.com/41cc2
Brilliant!!!!!!!
Your coloring is very good. Do you think polychromos are like prismacolors? I’ve not used polychromos before

@@StudioKatothat’s great 👍
Will this work with the big shot plus switch?
Yes it will, according to spellbinders 🥰
@@StudioKato thank you
Sure wish I had a Better press but my electronic machine doesn't work with them.
No he entendido lo que le hace tan importante la caja de brillos, cuando no veo ningun btilllo
Hot press is smooth, cold press is textured. You’ve got that backwards.
I'm pretty sure I will be purchasing a better press and a spellbinders machine as soon as I can afford to do so😂😊
You're not going to regret it! The BetterPress is still my favorite thing in my craftroom 😂😍😍
Breathtaking ❤ beautiful
