Keep in mind that Japanese pro wrestling is rarely heel vs face or villain vs hero, so the fans are always split between who to cheer for. It was strange that Jumbo came out to help Tenryu since they were such bitter rivals, but obviously Tenryu wasn't ready to give up the fight. I reccomend watching Jumbo Tsuruta vs Genichiro Tenryu 1989 match, if you like this match you should like that one, the great thing about Japanese pro wrestling is that you can start at any match and go forward and it all tells one coherent story
