I always thought the fade in the front was better anyways? Our edges/hairline can easily be disrupted, and the weight of long locs and/or any hairstyles that put tension on those areas too often, can cause it to weaken.

Let me start with thank you! I have seen many tutorials about reattaching locks and this is the very best by far! I have worn locks for the last 25+ years and only in the last six years have I started experiencing loss and damage for many reason especially stress, in counting I have lost 23 locks. Because my locks are small I could hid the losses pretty well with pinups and ponytails but no longer when letting them hang freely. My hair is to my tailbone and I don’t want to cut it off and start over so I am definitely going to follow this method to reattach my locks. ( yes I have all 23, just couldn’t seem to part with them lol)

I’m into four years on my loc journey. My locs are thinning and I’ve never been satisfied with the small parts that started my Locs. But I was continually told as the locs matured they would become thicker. Not happening. So I practically go back and forth monthly trying to decide if I should cut them off and start over with bigger parts. Lately I’ve been seeing more tutorials repairing locs ( I enjoy watching all of your videos). So I decided that I would marry my locs together to form larger parts at the root and use the tool to create larger locs. Does that make sense? Do you think that would work without causing further damage? I’d hate to cut 4 years off but leaning close to that decision.

Locdnlovdbyhim are you referring to the frequency of loc maintenance? My loctician had me coming every three weeks (he gives a big discount ). I did that for a while but that seemed too often. Then I started seeing him once a month at ridiculous prices(he says rates are higher due to more work into retwisting), I know that’s a bunch of BS; he’s just greedy. Besides all that I believe he’s twisting my locs too tight during maintenance; they curl up. I’ve read that shouldn’t happen. I use to have locs years ago and maintained them myself before graduate school and a stroke. They were beautiful. Ended up having to cut them off. Now I have to deal with people trying to get rich with no passion in the work. Very disheartening. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to take care of my own crown again. Thank you for your suggestion. My hair was like this, maybe worse. I felt so bad and ashamed that I ended up cutting them off. 😔 I wish I would've seen this first.

I've been reattaching and repairing my husband's locs he cut off almost a year ago and I think I have a knack for it as well, I like the difficulty and results. Im not 100% on styling, just repair. I need some repair as well and I think I can do it myself. My husband has a lot of hair so I'm pulling old locs apart for extra hair and have a ton for his fixes, my locs are smaller though so I wont have all the extra hair like he does for repair, where do you buy the extra? Is it synthetic oooor is it her old salvaged locs?

I actually did the same procedure and I love it , I did not need to add on all of my locs . just the broken ones , which was about six , I have some thinning on my crown , Im now nursing my scalp with The Hair Chemist Castor Oil ,I hope this works , Thanks for this video it seems to be a common occurance regarding locs

Where did/ do you purchase the loose hair? Is it synthetic or real?? Thank you.

You would not want to use synthetic hair to intertwine with your natural locs. Use only natural hair for natural locs

How does one care for their locs to prevent thinning like what happened with her? I have locs and I get so concerned about this moving forward with my locs. Thanks you!

Retwist a few times a year. Allow your roots to thicken

OMG Sis! YOU CRUSHED THAT SO HARD!!!!! I am a long retired barber/stylist from Philly Thanks to you, ! 'm about to do this for my son. He has locs that We started when he was 2 yrs old and he still has them. Of course in his early teenage years, I implored him to take care of his hair, and he didn't do it, although he was taught. Now at 19, he has breakage and thinness from dryness and neglect after shampooing. He was so unhappy that he has been contemplating cutting his loss off. YOU GAVE ME THE TUTORIAL THAT I NEED TO GIVE HIM A DO-OVER!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I found some on Amazon. I searchd dreadlock repair hair and seen 100% afro kinky bulk hair and you can get the same crochet needle with it or no needle. Ive always used the 0.5mm single needle for my hair and it works great saved about 8 locs 💪🏾
