Aldi is unironically one of my favorite places to shop, I actually like some of their off brand items more than the regular brands. The thing that sucks is they don't have a consistent stock, they have some really good meals I like but they don't always have the same ones so oftentimes Ill only find my favorites there every other or every 2 weeks.
It is nice to try new things though so its not all bad.

My mother frequently brought off brand Dr pepper and off brand Oreos called Dr Thunder and, I shit you not, Creme Betweens. Shit tasted amazing.

Been a long time since I've seen ice cream in a square box.
Used to be, before modern styles of packaging, almost all grocery store ice cream came in those paper boxes. When I was growing up, only fancier, more expensive, brands had the circular tub with a lid.
While not perfect, I kinda like the box, though. More space efficient, which is nice, since I live in an apartment with the classic "only barely big enough for a single person" apartment fridges.
Edit: I used to (abou 10 years ago) be able to buy budget ice cream in these square plastic buckets, though. Very space efficient, and pretty good at avoiding freezer burn.
The ice cream was just okay, though.
The great thing about the box stuff was you could cut a slab off that fit perfectly between 2 wafers.

Off Brand stuff is real, because your family needs to budget and also need something to wear or eat.

They do not have there brand on the products, the designers faces are not plastered everywhere .

As someone who went to schools that had a uniform (The UK is so backwards with that) you would still get bullied for what you wore, mostly shoes, it was either your shoes made you look like you went to a private school but couldn't actually afford to go, or you looked ratty, so many of us just decided to go on in all black trainers since the teachers didn't seem to give a damn unless they would telling us off for something else

Using cardboard is cheaper than a plastic tub.
You either have to eat it in one go yourself or with your family/friends because if it melts, then prepare for the cardboard taste.

The main problem I’m guessing was that the freezer burn was on the ice cream which kinda is eaten because it’s a tasty dessert not because it will provide nutrients.

Im poor/slightly rich enough to eat on brand cereal, but as som1 who doesnt care for their shoes, my mom just bought watever was cheapest. I also only wore 1 jacket to school (we too poor to afford another) so it had to be washed twice a week so ppl dont smell it. Also the only only reason im alive rn is thx to Fruity Pebbles & Cinnamon Toast Crunch. At the time that was my favorite cereal to eat (still is) & i eat it for supper (i skipped on breakfast bc again, i needed to save food. I did get other foods but never on brand things
