my daughter was smacked by an old man at the mall and police would not even try to find him because she had no visible injury!! He ran off and left his wife behind too. Then she walked off before police arrived. A lot of people needing mental health in this country, but I also think the joke was not funny. Just sayin'.
Jada is beautiful with hair or without. She’s filthy rich … give me a damn break. It was a joke and she should have taken it as such. Lost any respect I have for will.
If I ever assaulted someone like Will did to Chris, I would lose my job and face serious legal consequences. But Will Smith is doing whatever he wants to do without any consequence, as though he is above the rule. This is inequality and injustice. This is disgusting.
Eric hit the nail on the head here. The Academy should have acted ON THE SPOT. They should have had emergency policies and procedures in place should something like this occur, and immediately act on it. No one, celebrity or not, should be allowed to just go on stage when it's not their turn to do so, and especially not to strike someone.
What do unexpect. This is a man who didn't realize as he made his family rich he lost all control of them. He's now got family running their mouths amuck. He now is at the point where all he has left as a man is violence to show his control it's as much to show he protects his family as to show his family don't forget I am still the one able to beat ur ass. Will and his family can only go back to thw right order of who's in charge at this point by going broke and then will can finally go back to what he really is inside and wants the man in charge
It not only made me sick, but brought up flash memories of my ex husband coming up to me and out of nowhere slapping me to the ground in front of everyone in a parking lot. I sat there flinching. He has no idea the repercussions he has made on children and domestic violence victims.
My wife suffers from hairloss, and she would have been pissed if I acted like Will. She told me that she would have been so embarrassed and just left the event/ceremony in shame/disgust of my actions if that were us. I haven't liked much of Wills work this past decade but now I just feel like never wanting to see another movie from him. This sends the wrong message to our kids.
Yes! I'm a woman and I thought the same. If I was physically attacked and my partner stepped up because he is physically stronger, of course. But I don't need a man to resort to physical violence to defend my "honour". It's so toxic and embarrassing.
@Theodore Plume highly doubtful sir, he just understood what he had to loose….His reputation, his self-respect, etc. 🤗 Probably caught off guard, taken aback, but not scared!
Eric is 100% right. He didn't just assault a man on live TV, but also took away from other not so well known individuals who may never experience being this high in their careers ever again. The Academy should have acted on this right away and held him to some degree of accountability.
This all seems pretty histrionic - a guy does an open-hand slap on someone, no one is really hurt, and people want to lock him up? The same people who make excuses for Woody Allen and Roman Polanski? Everyone should get some perspective here - there is an on-going war in the Ukraine, 5 million people have died in an epidemic - and we are worried about people having a slap-fight? This was one step from hitting him with a purse.
Why was Will Smith allowed to return to his seat after physically assaulting someone?? If this was a fan that stormed the stage they would of been dragged off by security. Not the first time Hollywood has turned a blind eye to assaults.
The world is dying. Look what’s going on: Covid-19 Pandemic, Racism, Russia v Ukraine War. Like people don’t really understand this the last and evil days. This the right time to put God 1st!
What Will Smith did to Chris Rock was vile and despicable. I wish that Chris would have this beast prosecuted to the fullest. Will Smith and his wife are vile , vain, arrogant and vulgar.
Most disturbing! And only after Jada looked unhappy about the joke, which should was not harmful then we'll take action to make a mockery a whole Oscar awards! Such a disgrace when people of color have struggled long and far enough to get where they are and he, (WILL SMITH), goes and for a stunt like this! How freaking degrading! I'm appalled! It's one thing to defending your spouse's honour, but to act like this! I can't speak anymore up on this, it's just sickening to me!
Look at it from this angle: no one in the audience cared about one of their ‘own’ getting physically abused. Not only did they not care but they gave Will a standing ovation. Now… imagine how much these celebs care about YOU 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Chris was "working" for the Academy when he was slapped, yet being physically attacked at work by Will-- a customer ---there were no consequences....Even Walmart would bounce an out of order customer. 😞
Let’s be real anyone else without a “name” would’ve been handcuffed, escorted out and tried for assault. He would’ve been made an example of it’s illegal to assault someone on live television and get away freely.
@@Machiave11i I think so too. The views and ratings were definitely going down. They didnt escort him out or kick him out. and he was still able to get his award
As per Jada’s own videos giggling about her alopeca - yes giggling - was due the over use of chemicals, wigs, glues, extensions - it was self induced and she opening talked about it, giggled at it, and openly rocks the look and said she loves it. For her and Will to sit back and let the world believe Chris Rock said something hurtful is just wrong. People with medical alopeca loose spots of hair, their eyebrows & eyelashes etc - she has all her hair folicules - very clearly.
CNN- Progressive people don't make fun of people suffering from diseases. Also CNN- Defending that person is also diabolical. I have plenty of Bipolar jokes and I am going to tell them all about CNN. And you won't do $hit. Weak. No hero's or villains in this story. They both owe an apology to each other. Nothing more.
As an inner-city teacher, the message this sends to young black men is devastating. Rock can't press charges or he's a wussy, Smith can commit assault and battery because he's defending his woman, men don't have to apologize to other men even when they are wrong, a man can't hit a woman but a man can hit a man, black men can't be expected to control their tempers, rich and powerful people never get consequences, someone's words justify physical violence, and more...
This is why men, who happen to be black, with their lives in order are choosing to leave certain types of females (can't call them women) and males (can't call them men) alone in the world to sort their own affairs.
Words can be violent too. Words can be weapons. They inflict pain and damage. Sometimes deeper than physical attacks. You didn’t mention that. Why should there not be consequences for words as well as actions. Appropriate consequences. It’s ok to be cruel if it’s wrapped up in a joke ? In this case the action only occurred because of words spoken. Teach your students to be thoughtful and considerate with their words. Those throwing abuse don’t get to choose who is offended.
This is why we love #SaraSider. Just a small sample of her character and frankness that makes inspirational and exceptional. Go discover more of her TODAY!! ❤
😭😩😡Another thing that bothers me about what happened is the fact that not one person came to Chris Rock’s aid, or stood up for him and against the violence that happened! Not one person! 😭😩
nope. but trending heavy finally a day ago was #ISTANDWithChrisRock after a while." Will was wrong. His son Jaden tough talk about, it's ok because "That is how we do it." something like that, he tweet, was pathetic, disgusting." No way this is not bothering Will (inward)that is, he has psychiatric issue imo since August Alsina went up inside of his wife, and the public learned her cheating on Will."
That's like having a horrible child who talked about anothers child's mother having cancer and other kids smacks him. Why would some one come to that person aids. Lesson learnt was to leave Jada alone. And that GI Jane bs only cute to people who chose to be bald headed. She didn't have a choice.
What's so shocking is he literally walked all the way up that stage, at such a big event in front of all those people, and handed that slap to him. He could have waited until the show was over and talked to him man to man to let him know that was not cool. Will Smith is in his 50s, youd think someone who's been on this earth half a century would've gained enough experiences in life to know doing that would not be a wise decision. What planet has he been living on.
What stunned me is how it sounded. A slap is a smack sound. This sounded like a punch thud. Still shots show Will’s hand open. The verdict is still out for me that this was staged for ratings. Nobody watches these award shows anymore and it had to be shocking to get attention.
I think the academy and the entire room giving Will Smith a standing ovation moments after he had assaulted Chris Rock, distracting from the other awards that were being given, and not giving Smith any consequences in the moment is one of the reasons that people are watching less and less of the Oscars. It's a bunch of entitled people who don't seem to have any grounding in real life.
It's hilarious because Hollyweirdos always preach about how we should behave and "do better". Bunch of hypocrites, I bet you could count on fingers how many of them are actually good people.
Imagine if Will had not hit Chris but used his platform to talk about Alopecia and the painful emotional side effects such a disorder can have someone?
Exactly. He could have easily made Chris Rock look like the bad guy by calling him out on the joke in his acceptance speech or on social media afterward. Instead he acted like a caveman in the moment and now Chris Rock looks like a saint compared to him. Pure stupidity!!
And his son tweets “ that’s the way we do it” so now his son thinks it’s perfectly fine to hit someone who says something you don’t like. Consequences Please.
Right.. I saw what he posted. This family has been weird for years now and it's not because of Will it's because of Jada. Will was laughing at the joke at first so how was he so upset to do this?!! Jada has dirt on Will and that's why he's doing all this crazy stuff to please her but yet she's constantly disrespecting him on her show. Smh
In a nutshell, that is why there is so much violence in our society.. schools..etc. because it is glorified. Narcissism at it’s best. I believe the family is not happy mentally. They have all the money in the world and fame but they have never convinced me they are happy.
@@andrewdavy9921 Yeah, they been letting their dirty laundry air out for years now. Will is jeopardizing so much including his mental health for that little evil ass woman. She even admitted on her own show she's evil, get back at ppl in a nasty way, hold grudges, etc. Jada ain't got nothing going on she's living off of Will and don't wanna let that lifestyle go so she's holding dirt over Will's head that's why he looks so stressed out and doing whatever she say. Wife weird his kids weird that crap driving him crazy.
The jury is out *IF* Jada Pinkett actually has alopecia. She HAS hair - she just keeps it very short + shaved. I work with cancer patients who lose their hair from chemotherapy - they have NO hair to shave - they are legitately bald. I work with alopecia patients who have ZERO hair and are BALD. Jada clearly has hair, and most likely lost small patches due to years of weaves, corn rows + braids. Jada appears to struggle, rather, from a serious Borderline Narcissistic Personality Disorder = with her extramarital "entanglements" with teenagers (*her son's 19y/o friend August IS still a teenager)...self-created medical maladies like "alopecia" (short/shaved hair is NOT alopecia = ask her daughter Willow with SAME haircut!)....She has broken Will's spirit over the years + it came out that night. SHAME on them both for being SO incredibly SELF-CENTERED + SELF-INVOLVED to steal the night from those who actually deserved their wins.
@@nobodyimportant76467 Jada clowned Will when she cheated on him, they literally have an open marriage. He didn’t even care, he laughed, it was jada who got him to get mad.
we don't live in a world where people can stand up for what is right they did the smart thing and stay out of it, they would have lost their lesser paying job and get arrested if they did do "their job". Why should someone throw away their life for another person that hates them?
Oh please, these people need to get some self discipline, a sense of humour and some serious levels of personal maturity. And Mr Rock, DESERVES the standing ovation for his choice to be an adult! Well done 👍 sir, well done!! Nothing but total respect for Chris Rock 🤔.
I give Chris Rock a Standing Ovation for keeping his composure and giving a great presentation for the next honoree receiving an award right after being assaulted and humiliated by Will Smith on live TV.
He did. Will Smith humiliated himself and like she said I find it funny he laughed until Jada rolled her eyes. She has so much control over him. It's obvious.
100% thats my only issue with this whole thing is that will smith felt like he was able to do what he did and get away with everything... they even let him do a speech lfmao
I agree and no one is really bringing up this fact. Black white or any other race, power, wealth, popularity, seems to get you a pass out of almost anything.

During the break when everyone was “consoling” Will Smith, the Academy should have at that time asked him and Jada to leave. Also, told him that if he won, someone else would accept the award for him. His not being able to accept the award would have been an appropriate consequence for his actions at the time. Definitely not the audience giving him a standing ovation. The audience that did that for him basically condoned his behavior. I find their behavior DISGUSTING!
Absolutely disgusting, they do the same silent treatment when black women are abused, here clearly a black man was abused and nothing come of it. Chris Rock should sue King William and the freaking Academy for this. I am so mad that Quest Love's big moment was derailed by this nut.
A few days prior to the show, Jada said in an interview that she didn't care what people thought about her hair. She didn't look hurt about the joke, she just looked annoyed. And his fake instagram apology to Chris today happened only because he is facing hella backlash, which he should. People who are defending him should be ashamed. There is NO excuse for what he did and NO reason to be defending him.
There is no an excuse either to make a job using a person sickness. Chris also went too far with that joke, it doesn't justify Will Smith behavior, but Chris Rock also was wrong.

This was JUST SAD. I am not sure I can ever look at Will Smith the same again. When someone can just attack someone else like that and not be held accountable???? Just because he is a Hollywood star?
I have a son and when he was growing up, I taught him if someone taunts or teases you, use your words to retaliate. It is never okay to use violence. Chris Rock was the big man last night; grace under pressure'.
Exactly. I grew up with undiagnosed autism. Imagine how mercilessly bullied I was. It was BAD. And yet, I never once responded with violence. I'd destroy them with my words. Even made a few of my bullies cry in front of the entire cafeteria. After that, I rarely got bullied again. But, reacting with violence over a joke at an awards show? C'mon, Will. In regards to the joke, Chris only saw a bold head woman, and he connected her to the movie that starred Demi Moore, saying that she can make movie #2. This may be controversial but I respect him for what he did. It’s not like Chris’ life was in danger from it but he learnt a lesson from Wills reaction.
It"s not Chris Rock's fault that Wil Smith's wife lost her hair. When Michael Jackson was mocked by Eminem, did Michael Jackson slapped Eminem's face. Even Donald Trump never slapped anybody for mocking him. If Wil Smith was a civilized person, he could have lodged a formal complaint against Chris Rock. Those who gave Wil a standing ovation are morally loose.

I find it unbelievable that he assaulted Chris Rock in front of all his peers, televised and no one said anything. Then he went on to accept an award...
AND gets a standing ovation from these hypocritical jesters. Hollywood is dead. Amen. I watch old Academy Awards on you tube. When people had class…at least when they were in front of millions.
This year's Oscars: violence in Ukraine was basically ignored. An actor punches the host, does not apologize to him and just gets applauded. We need Ricky Gervais back to call them out again.
I think they need to do away with the Oscars, stop idolizing and celebrating narcissists and instead hold a nationally televised award show for all the everyday people who work selflessly to make the world a better place.
Agree with Eric. Real double standards. The standing ovation was sickening. Every other actor there was deprived of their accomplishments. Smith took everything away from this year's Oscars. Smith's entitled smirk is nauseating and his false tears meant nothing. But sure as damn the devil did come for him. And.... Jada, the devil's favourite sin is Vanity.
Agree ! he should have been escorted out of the academy after the incident! Instead he was permitted to remain. His Oscar should have been mailed to him.
Absolutely... Will has been destroyed at home by his witch wife, what happened at the Oscars was public revelation of the destruction of Will Smith, he's a goner.
What wife would let her husband go off to make a disgusting spectacle at a very public event. No respect for the work done by all their peers. She comes from a space of bitterness and self-loathing. She has destroyed him!
I don’t believe the alopecia story, I see no bald patches, maybe all over thinning possibly from : weed , std , post brow lift/tuck , or as she stated “she abused her hair with chemicals and weave traction”. Also Will made millions joking about uncle Phil’s bald head , went on arsineo hall laughing at the band member with REAL alopecia. So it’s not about that . Looks more like ME MYSELF & IREENE syndrome, projecting with split personality, nothing cute about these 2 anymore, not at all
Let's get something straight. Will Smith's Publicist apologize to Chris Rock, NOT Will Smith. You think Will Smith is sorry? Rewind and see Will Smith smirk on his face after slapping Chris Rock. You think he's sorry? Sorry enough that he chose to NOT apologize on Live TV after he won his award, but apologize to everyone else. Will Smith = Faker
How do you figure will Smith is a faker. He would have to be sorry for what he did and when he told rock to keep his wife's name outa his mouth he meant it. Nothing fake there. Real men protect their families. Bullys make jokes use words to hurt because they aren't man enough to go toe to toe. The world needed to see this. Bunch of passive aggressive cowards
Chris Rock is a star. The more I see how he took the high road the more impressed. He did not see the hit coming even as Smith walked up. Smith hit him fast and hard. He acknowledged that he just got hit on live tv. Even comments that the night will be remembered. Considers saying something and then checks himself and moves on. Sure, he may have been getting firm instructions in his earpiece. But still, he is the star. Smith is an entitled brat and a weak man. I have enjoyed his work but will have a hard time watching his stuff in the future. Seems he was type cast for Hancock.

The real shame of this all is the Academy did absolutley nothing during or after what Will did. Sorry, that was an act of violence & you should be held accountable for that.
Thank you Sara and Eric for your thoughtful words. You have expressed what I've been thinking. One doesn't use physical violence against another and the Academy dropped the ball. Chris dropped the charges that's the only reason he didn't get charged
Chris rock mocked someone will smith is. The good guy here
That's assault brotha
Violence is unexcusable, but if Chris Rock do not press charge, it is fine for me. Why should you or me punish Will Smith if the beat one won't?
Is there nothing violent about cruel, cutting mockery masquerading as "comedy"?
Thank you Sara and Eric for your thoughtful words. You have expressed what I've been thinking. One doesn't use physical violence against another and the Academy dropped the ball. There were no consequences for Will. He phsically assaulted someone on stage. Will should have been escorted out or at the very least not allowed to accept his award onstage. Very disappointing. And, I don't understand how Will and his family could go to a party and celebrate after Will created that ugly moment.

Well said and my sentiments exactly. Another reason that I'm unable to watch award shows like the Oscar's. They're just another big self promoting advertisement to go see their movies.
Yes, totally agree with you. How can they still attend a party as a family and dance and rap like nothing happened!! 😡😡 Will can’t take a joke but will take that his wife cheated on him with a younger man. How do you respect a woman like that. I lost total respect for WILL SMITH 👎🏼👎🏼😡😡
Imagine if this did an actor with a different skin color, for example white. White actor would be escorted immediately.

*There has to be consequences for Will Smith. Imagine if that were a white man that walked up on stage and slapped a black man? The BLACK LIVES MATTER hue and cry will be deafening. The arrogance Will Smith displayed on that night is totally disgusting. And the people in the audience that gave him a standing ovation should bury their heads in shame*
