- Choosing which drafting tools you need to buy can be a daunting task. But don't worry, cause today we are going to talk about the essential must have items every first year architecture student must have.
In this video i discuss what t-square to buy, what tech pens you should get and other architecture tools that will help you survive your first year of architecture school.

(GTX 1060 or Higher)
Staedler pencils especially Mars Lumougraph are hard to find, I only bought a 9H which is useless? From looking over stores in Manila, Cebu, and Mindanao.
i7 8265U processors can be outmatched by i5 8300H. There’s little difference with 8th gen and 9th gen core processors. Get at least a GTX 1650, 1060 is two years old and not efficient.

I am going to my second year 😁 these are some tips and some stuff I think you will need for a first year😇
1.sketch book
(carry on a small sketch book with you everywhere and whenever you see something interesting sketch it out it will be helpful for you to improve your lines which is important for your future design sketches)
2.instead of water colors I think using alcohol marker like Copic markers is better and easier to carry
(there is tons of tutorials on youtube I believe practicing before starting the semester is better so buy cheap markers and practice since copic are expensive you can continue using the cheap ones if they are good I believe he made a video about it 😁)
3. For the pencils I have a 0.5 HB mechanical pencil.
(I tried using the Pencils set I had a hard time using the H then the B since I had a tough hold my tutor told me to use 4H and then HB to darken the lines but when darkening I had a rough time drawing on top of the light pencil without ruining the right dimensions and I could never finish quickly cause I had to draw twice which made me get less than 4 hours sleep on my first semester💔)
4. Always have a 15 or 20cm ruler cause you need it sometimes triangles are annoying 🤦🏻♀️.(maybe most of the times 😅)
5. There is something called eraser template this is a must to have item 🙂.
6. For my uni we don’t take or use any programs like AutoCad for our first year I will learn on my second year but I still wont use it for designing until my third year so if your university program like me and you have a fine laptop you don’t need to buy a new laptop for your first year but you will need one for your second year so save some money laptops are expensive at least for a broke student like me 😅.
7.learn shading and rendering before you start I still don’t know how to shade and I am suffering with rendering 😭😭💔.( but you can survive if you are like me don't worry if you didn't get the time to learn before the semester starts😇)
8.research some tips for modeling
(cutting neatly needs prictice💀)
9. Carry on some healthy snacks eating is important and architecture work makes you so busy that you neglect your health and without our health we can't do anything 😓

i was actually going for chemical engineering as my parents "recommended" me to take even though i was a person inclined more in drawing and maths but i found out your videos earlier this year and i actually stood up to them and said i would like to do architecture, and now i'm rewatching all your videos and they inspired me a lot! thank you so much! knowing your channel had saved me from a possible regrettable path in my profession. 🥰

I dreamed of taking chemical engineering ( cause it's my dream ) my parents didn't approve of that as it was dangerous for my health , instead they forced or convinced me to take architecture 😂

My archi starter kit is composed with:
Steadler T sqare 36"
triangles 45 and 36
Steadler pencils H and 2B
Faber Castel kneadable eraser
Steadler tech pens 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6
Prang water color double
the Toblerone metric scale
masking tape 1/2"
Steadler plastic tube with string (case for blue prints)

I just started architecture and drafting as an extra curricular in high school. So far we are learning about isometric shapes and it’s pretty fun. So far I feel like I only need a 3 sided ruler (it’s just my preferred material for using as a straight edge and is also very convenient for measurements), a T square, graph paper and Isometric paper.

If you want cheaper materials go for a cheaper store because some of the triangular scale from rotring doesnt have the scale 1:200. For pens you can buy Uni pin and for pencils go for faber castle. They are cheap but they can work pretty good. 😊

So i just finished my first week of being an arki student in slu (you're from slu too right?) and boooooooyyyy we already have so much to do! We already started drawing our title blocks and i'm just so frustrated by myself because i'm so slow and i always mess up the lines idk how's that happening hahaha. I definitely have to practice A WHOLE LOT in making title blocks.

There are a lot of advantages! Seminars from great architects, thesis seminars, QUIZBOWLS, interschool design competitions, rendering competitions, and many more! With UAPSA you get to show yourself off, learn from others, meet people, and have fun. You also get a id card. (Seriously, i joined at first for the id card lol)
Attending UAPSA National Congress is a great experience as well... You will be able to meet other arki people from different schools, team buildings, meet amazing architects, and workshops 👌
