    Thanks for the walk-through, very helpful. As a new ham, it's nice to find a video to cover operations without having to "fudge" through it myself to figure out the basics. 73 de KB1ZNZ

    Greetings, I know this is a very old UA-cam, but it sure helps. I'm trying to get this Mode up and running. I know FT8, and now FT4 is where most of the activity is, but there still ought to be some traffic on PSK31. Thanks.

    Thank you for the video about psk31.
    I am new to Ham radio and I search for my first (cheap) transceiver. However every day i discover new ways to exchange information. SDR between them. Now I see also PSK31.
    All this makes me quite nervous about spending money for a transceiver that "tomorrow" will lost its value. HF transmittions are getting few every year, especialy broadcasting stations and this makes things worse.

    A neat thing is pskreporter, which will show where your signal was received in the states/world immediately after calling cq. A confirmation that your signal was heard.

    Thanks for that demonstration. I am a new HAM and new to digital modes. I've been using Fldigi and have been frustrated by a lack of English speaking operators while I have been looking for QSO's. I'm uncertain if I'm simply operating at the wrong time of day or don't have the correct configuration. Recently I bought a Wophhilink external sound card. Wophhilink offers dedicated PSK31 software written by the builder specifically for his device and specifically for use on an Android tablet. Even running this dedicated setup and running on 14.070 or 14.074 or 14.078 I have yet to find English only operators. As I said, It's been frustrating. I will just have to keep trying until I'm successful.

    • @joeburnham5437
      @joeburnham5437 5 років тому

      I'm glad the video helped. As far as finding English operators goes, I suspect it's just a matter of waiting for better propagation. Once the sunspot cycle improves, you'll probably have no problems! 73, Joe

    I used to use Digipan years ago, just getting active again on HF I picked up a Ic-7300 is there a version that has the IC-7300 listing in the setup so it will work? I tried it and it will receive but not key the rig. I am using Ham Radio Deluxe but that is way more complicated than Digipan.

    • @joeburnham5437
      @joeburnham5437 Рік тому

      Digipan is no longer being developed (it's been "dead" for probably 20 years). I'm not aware of any way to make it work with modern rigs.

    As a newbie, where do the signal reports come into it? How do you give them a signal report?

    • @WHNorthcote
      @WHNorthcote 9 років тому

      Mostly it is down to your choice. Standard is 599 but 579 can be reported if you have a weak signal but can still read the text.

      Nope, it's the Digipan UI. I was running it in XP when I made the video, but it also runs in win 7 (32 bit and 64 bit)..and looks the same. You'd probably have to put Digipan in XP compatibility mode to make it run properly in Win 7.

    PSK31 has been a nightmare. And Digipan was supposed to be the oldest and simplest SDR to use. Are you kidding me? Who designs this software? I connect my KX3 and PX3 with Signalink, with the internal jumpers properly configured with the external wires properly connected, and I get constant transmission if I play a You Tube video, or if I make a simple CQ. I have to go to T/R and switch to R to turn off the transmission, long after my CQ has been sent. And instructions are so scattered throughout multiple UA-cam videos, and the Nifty E-Z Guide to PSK-31, etc. Operation is so disjointed that it too is useless. Useless, needless complexity and completely devoid of any logical thought process in the design. Is the problem with a Lenovo computer running Windows 10 having its sound card (RealTek High definition audio/ USB Audio Codec/Intel R display Audio) conflicting with SignaLink? I have my KX3 running 6 watts on an Alex Loop at 7.030 Mhz with a SWR of 1.0 . I then tried to take a look at FLdigi, and it is even worse. And as a retired doctor , I thought Electronic Medical Records and Electronic Hospital Records were bad, but even as an Extra, this SDR is chaos.
