- In this video I go undercover as a costume character in Times Square, dressed as an inflatable shark, to learn about the daily lives of these costume characters who have been a part of New York City for the past 20 years. With so much bad press about these Times Square costume characters, most popularly known for harassing tourists in NYC, it's time to find out: are these costume characters a tourist trap, or a vital part of New York City culture?

Wow! This was so great and is definitely my new favorite video from you! It is so sad that even in an amazing city like NYC, and that too in Times Square, which I consider to be the literal centre of human civilization, women aren't safe from being catcalled, sexualized, and harassed by men so openly in public!
Also, it was so interesting to see the perspective of the costume characters and how they operate as a team! Its bad that they resort to bullying newcomers but honestly, I'll take the costume characters any day over the fake monks, who are way more pushing and borderline aggressive on selling their stuff!

Although not very nice, makes sense they wouldn’t want any new characters joining their ‘team’. That would mean Less money for each of them. I watched tons of videos on these characters and most of them not so nice. They speak English, but tried to freeze you out pretending they don’t. I think it was the costume. People could see her too clearly. If she had something that covered her entire body so they couldn't tell if she was a female or male (like a storm trooper).....Or, if she'd rather show she's female, dress as a woman from a different era. Dress like Aphrodite or a medieval noble woman (just keep some strong pepper spray up her sleeve).
For sure that screwed me over 🫡 but I knew I needed something transparent to record and monitor the “secret” camera. Still wild though cause I was super covered up and NOT attractive at all.

Well have to give you props and credit for giving it a go. Bummer you didn't reach your goal because besides donate the money you could have gotten something a little better costume wise. But will say shark was a good choice because I've brought a few inflatable costumes made by manufacturer that did that one. Overall great video.

Acho que foram um pouco mais receptivos por vc ser mulher, se fosse outro homem acho que seriam mais ríspidos pra proteger a área deles, como os flanelinhas fazem. Video ficou muito interessante! Parabéns pelo vídeo, e expôs bem o que mulheres ao redor do mundo sofrem, seja em um país mais desenvolvido, ou em um menos desenvolvido, a mulher é sempre alvo de assédio por parte de machistas.
Porém mostrou que alguns estão lá para trampar de verdade e se sustentar, sem assediar sexualmente ou aos turistas, o que eu achava que era impossível, para mim todos forçavam a barra.

1) If you watched the video, you'll have noticed I was sexualized while wearing a SHARK costume.
2) I wasn't wearing a "tight short and shirt". I was fully covered, with no cleavage, and wearing pants in every part of the videos.
3) Are you trying to blame women for being sexualized for wearing a shirt and shorts?! I think the problem here isn't us, my friend. It's WHO'S sexualizing us. I recommend you rewatch the video, because you might've missed the key message.

As a man who has, myself, been sexually harassed by unwanted women, gays, and bullies who get away with it in the workplace, I know that there is a difference between victims and professional victims. I don't need to go back and rewatch a damn thing. I'm just tired, as a straight white male, of the ongoing lectures from the protected class btw.
