It's high time to ditch the dragon. As a hobby, we need to get as far from WotC D&D as possible.
Indeed! Spread the word, share the video!0
Switched to CnC a few years back.
Just jumped into TFT/ITL with Mythic and Index Card RPG for some fun jumping in and out of solo play and never turning around!
Idk, I'm a stay and fight guy, we secede this ground to them and they win
I stopped buying their products years ago. Funny thing is I would've bought this. They fucked that up!
Time to? Dude I left towards the tail end of 3.5e because the writing was on the wall
Can't say I'm terribly shocked, Evil Hat did something similar with their Chthulu mythos supplement. The foreword has this schpeel about how H.P.Lovecraft was an awful person and that it's a shame he ever drew breath. After that they basically admit that despite their "principled stance against H.P.Lovecraft" they were content to make money off his ideas.
No one is obligated to like everyone or everything, but I can recognize that something can exist because of someone I dislike or disagree with and give them the credit they're due.
Not that Chaosium is any better, if you've seen what they're like these days.
What the hobby needs is creators who tell the existing TTRPG publishers they're scum for hiring/supporting the kinds of people they do.
@@Chibi1986 Exactly. The Chaosium big anniversary publication of the original CoC game was littered with "trigger warnings" and warnings. It was ridiculous.
The public domain sure is useful. Just remember to include the proper prayers against the original creator in your work, lest you be tainted by their sin.
Though I kinda wish these poor fools that go "Lovecraft is evil; stop using the Mythos" once every blue moon had more success within the woke circles.
I'm going to be honest, I don't care what WotC does anymore. I've got my old books and they cannot take them.
Check out the OSR!
Not yet ...
Shhh…they’ll hear you and send the Pinkertons ‘round to get your books!
Respect
Are brown illegal people coming across the southern border supposed to take the place of White men leaving woke plastic dice games?
Insult customers or potential customers, receive justified backlash , proceed to either release a thinly veiled insult masquerading as an apology, or more likely double down on spewing their usual predictable bile. Yep, it’s another day ending in Y.
On the bright side Meatball joined us for the video.
Why are they like this?
@@АндрейНеугодников-м6е They’re political fanatics first and everything else second.
In the "thanks" video, they deleted a comment of mine where I stated:
"thanks nerds from the 90s for keeping the torch lit while dnd wasn't popular"
They do hate oldschool players.
They deleted over 200 comments on that video that mentioned Gary or Dave.
Yup. It was us oldschool nerds who kept the game alive with our purchases. But now the ones who took over control, after they wormed their way in (despite their accusations of gate keeping), hate us old school nerds because most of us are "straight white men who don't conform", because we have always been outcasts. Sure, a few drank the cool-aid, but most of us still have a brain. Can't say that about many of the new "fans".
@@nielsdejong They are banking on, as Communists ALWAYS do, of corrupting the Young. If they can 'normalize' their poison, then kids who don't know any better (and are getting these lies from every quarter) will just grow up thinking it's 'the way things should be.' That's the truly scary part of all this.
BOYCOTT WOTC-HASBRO! They are in a spiral financial failure! Keep your coin from them show them buy buying OGL!
Spread the word, share the video!
Word!
It's no surprise that Sweet Baby Inc., the woke advisory company that just destroyed Rocksteady games " justice league must die," has also been advising WOTC. How much money and many customers do these companies have to lose untill they learn???
Did Anita Sarkeesian found Sweet Baby Inc? Or are they just her disciples?
Spread the word, share the video!
@@surlyunicorn9461 Neither, they just read from the same playbook written by Antonio Gramsci.
How much and how many? All of them, and they still will insist they were in the right.
@@Richforce1 Interesting. I didn’t know who he was though the name sounded vaguely familiar. Always good to learn new information about the opposition.
I'm reminded of the current remaster of the old Tomb Raider games. Apparently they put a disclaimer or warning on it saying something like they don't condone certain things etc.
Like WOTC they want to release something that might sell but at the same time want to state they don't like it.
Trigger warnings, a clear sign of a weak society.
They're hypocrites.
@@RPGPundit narcissistic are hypocrites. It is funny how woke identity politics alway have narcissistic people.
At least with the Tomb Raider example the folks who ordained the remakes be made were overruling the folks who put on the trigger warning, and the folks who made the remake were a different studio. The trigger warning was the only thing Crystal Dynamics contributed, and it was kind of a middle finger to the people who preferred Lara Croft 1.0 to the less well liked (and, even considering the decades gone by, less relevant) Lara Croft they're still producing.
An equivalent might be releasing a set of First Edition* books _(Player's Handbook, Dungeonmaster's Guide, Monster Manual)_ with higher quality (but otherwise identical) pictures and a prettier font, as ordained by Hasbro and actually put together by, say, Mr. Urbanski. Then wrapping it in a plastic wrapper with a trigger warning on it.
* Yes, I know _AD&D_ 1st ed. is by no means the first version of _Dungeons & Dragons._
Oh, it gets even better. One the first mods to pop up for the PC version was to get rid of that stupid disclaimer. Naturally l, it was banned by Nexus Mods faster than the mod that swapped all the pride flags for American flags on the PC version of whichever Spiderman game it was.
I been involved in D&D since about 1982. I have had full tables in several states across the US. I use my own house rules and setting like so many of us, as they call us nowadays, "Forever DMs" have done since even before the time I started. I am a fan of the TSR era, run 2E currently once a week, and I no longer buy anything from WOTC. To be up front, I bought some of the starter type stuff because my group wanted to experiment with 5E. We gave it an honest attempt and went back to 2E, and we haven't looked back. I buy what looks good to me from other companies, mostly OSR type supplements that fit easily with 2E (my group prefers 2E to 1E, but we have library shelves full of 1E). I will not support WOTC, and every member of my group, young and old, are of the same mindset. We will not financially support any company or individual trying to destroy the hobby, period.
And I'll add that I went from apathy towards WOTC back to anger at WOTC when I heard of the disrespect WOTC showed to Gygax and Arnsen. WOTC deserve to be unemployed and shunned by Gamers worldwide, IMHO.
Well said!
@@RPGPundit Thanks!
@@oldgrognard7662 Good on you! Personally I started playing 3rd edition with my older brother's group when I was a little kid, and since then stuck to it and Pathfinder 1E (which is 99% D&D 3.5). You do have the occasional lesbian open couple in a medieval setting in it, which makes little sense, but for the most sense it is not woke and has themes like cannibalism, murder, dark themes etc. while you go and try and defeat the big bad guys. At least it is for the Giantslayer adventure path for PF1E. All in all a great setting with a gritty DM, which raises the stakes and makes it fun. Plus 3.5 D&D is I think the most detailed and realistic of the settings, even if the math can be a bit much at times XD I even made a PDF which contains homebrew rules we made for it as well as art I commissioned for it: drive.google.com/file/d/1XNgxsZwfWU4QQHTSIA9UInIaSkgb7uiI/view
@@nielsdejong Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it a lot. It sounds really good but I must admit my group is very much entrenched in the 2E game I am running now. We just started a new campaign so it would be a bad move to make a switch right now. I will get the information from the link you provided for future reference though. Again, I appreciate the tips and information.
I also started playing in 1982 at age 11. As I said elsewhere, my 'Claim to Fame' was running a campaign for 6-10 players that took 16 YEARS to complete. I had everything the Cultural Marxists hate, which was an important part of my players wanting to keep coming back.
Of course, the MOST important factor was that I realized early on in my 'Career' as a GM that my goal was not to just tell a great story, but to allow my players to tell their OWN STORIES THROUGH the medium of the world I created.
Sadly, my health has deteriorated so badly I haven't been able to roleplay since 2019 (Chronic Pain- Inoperable Spinal Damage. I can't focus enough to GM, much less play) But I will still try to defend this hobby against the Cultural Marxists who want to destroy it.
WOTC hates anyone who played D&D before 5e
At this point i think they hate anyone who loves RPGs at all. I honestly believe their goal is to destroy this incredible game. If not for the OSR they already would have.
It is more then that, they want to run off all the old D&D gamer who played D&D before 5e and then it will be run off anyone who player D&D before one D&D when that crap one D&D comes out.
Maybe its Ageism? Old editions are usually held by older generations.
But WotC acquired D&D in 3e.
@@osborne9255 I am a old D&D player and been in the hoddy for 40 years and I am playing 5e just as I played 3rd e.
They wouldn't be capable of _reading_ what Gygax wrote, much less re-writing it. Maybe they could slowly figure out the awfully big words but they wouldn't be able to figure out what those words mean.
True.
I came back to rewatch.
A lot of the documents they put in that book come from The National Archive. One of the researchers who helped vet the accuracy on Secrets of Blackmoor found it and released it all into the wild so that anyone can go find it and pore over all the artifact scans. I posted links on Pundits RPG site.
You don't need WOTC - WOTC hasn't yet figured out they do need you.
I'll tell you Pundit, I am perplexed. They seem to be living in a bubble somewhere in the northwest. Despite all the talk about diversity they do not seem to acknowledge more than half their customers can give a snot about real life issues - they just want to play their game with friends and pretend to be an elf or a dwarf and get out from the crushing reality of whatever is going on in their real life for maybe 4 hours.
First the unknown hairy guy praises himself as being the guy that needed to write the book. I have no idea who the guy is. Is he a game historian? I do not know him. He makes no mention of Peterson. I know who he is. So I am already feeling my blood boil listening to this nobody act all self important. Not gonna buy this book.
Then they tell us Dave and Gary are terrible people. I am at a full boil now. You could just not say anything about this and acknowledge that the entire industry which gives these chumps in the video a pay check, was created by Dave and Gary. Ok, screw you guys I am not buying your product.
Step 3 is to mention how the grognards are love this. Well, you lost us grognards in the previous rants you did. I am not going to buy this book.
Step 4 is where they proclaim that WOTC is in the process of inventing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
(This is where the corporation puts a Dolphin on it, kind of like when Exxon crashes a ship and suddenly all their ads show happy Dolphins and Otters frolicking.)
They seem to have no clue who they should be speaking to in this video. Do they address the kids who probably don't care about D&D history, or should they be addressing their older customers, who are as bad and toxic as Dave and Gary whom WOTC hates?
From a marketing perspective, this video just confuses me. They insult the people who created the product which pays them, they insult all of us older gamers, but they tell us we'll love this book. What is the message in this video which is essentially an ad?
i think the message is: DON'T BUY WOTC!
Griff
What's up with dolphins in the middle of the video?
It's interesting how they can't comprehend that something great made in the past might be an argument for the worthiness of the values that produced it. In other words, Gygax didnt invent RPGs in spite of being evil, but specifically because he was a great man who had some insight into the true nature of things.
Very well said
X-actly!
Like Jazz, RPG's are a truly unique American creation. When done right (I.E. A GM Being a World-Creator & Facilitator, not just a storyteller), with Players who understand how to Roleplay, it's a completely novel experience. There is nothing else like it.
While the graphics may not be as swanky as 'Sword Art Online', it can be just as engrossing without the danger of getting whacked when your character does. ^_~
$100? I wouldn't give WOTC the price of a small coffee, and a donut for anything!
For $100 you could get 28 issues of the Pundit Files (they cost about $3.50)
@@RPGPundit for $100 I would buy them again 😎
I will never buy another thing from those crazies. I was going to get the reprints of the AD&D hardbacks from Drivethru but instead I have just spent money on buying actual copies of the old stuff.
I want to do the same thing, but the books are so expensive in France & Europe... But methink that I can only purchase the POD books only...
The wide eyed zeal when they say "only Wizards could make this book". Cringy back patting.
Yeah, gross.
Wotc doesnt get it that they are Gollum!
No, they are Madame Web. 🙊
Meanwhile, Troll Lord Games is busy getting Gary's post-TSR works back into print.
You touched upon something I find irritating about a lot of RPG settings - they all seem to reflect very contemporary values. It's rare, in my experience, to find a setting that doesn't adhere so rigidly to our current day values, and when opposing values are shown it's usually only the bad guys that hold them. It all very much feels like a ren faire, as you put it, rather than another world. I shouldn't be all that surprised really, considering so many people I've played with struggle to roleplay as anything but themselves.
I'm not even looking for historical accuracy or anything, I just want a world to feel real, as if it's lived in. I don't get that feeling when everyone is 100% accepting of everyone else, religion is super vague and welcoming of everything, everywhere you go you see a melting pot of radically different species, and the only time these things aren't true is when you're dealing with villains. Think of how humans have killed one another over seemingly very minor differences throughout the entirety of our history, now imagine not just different ethnicities and faiths, but different species and their alien civilisations - I'm not so sure we'd be all too tolerant of such things, nor do I believe they'd be behaving like us.
Agreed. It’s rare to find say the elves as being portrayed as anything more than prettier humans with pointed ears. Most settings never achieve that sense of them being otherworldly, as if part of them exists in another realm of perception entirely. Which would make their mannerisms and outlooks truly enigmatic in nature to humans. I’d go so far as to say there should be a campaign world where the players cannot play anything but humans as it would lend itself to fostering that kind of atmosphere.
Well I'm your huckleberry.
Check out Lion & Dragon, Sword & Caravan, Dark Albion, and Baptism of Fire!
The main exceptions I can think of are the 40k RPGs and historical settings that are _actually_ historical.
I had what I now know was the incredible honor of running a D&D Campaign that lasted for 16 years (1996-2011) that had virtually everything the Cultural Marxists would hate. Focusing on real good vs evil, true heroism and both subtle evil and overt evil, while most importantly, allowing my players to tell their OWN stories THROUGH the medium of the world I created. It kept my 6-10 players coming back through all of the Real Life issues that arose during that period.
I even had an Ex-Fiancee' who was a rabid feminist (This was in 1996-97), who ended up leaving me with the epithet, 'You are the most abusive man I've ever known.' Yet she STILL wanted to play her character in my game!
That's when you know you've hit Top Tier as a GM. ^_~
@@torikazuki8701 There is no earthly way I would have allowed someone like that to continue in my game, or life.
What is the major difference between IP like star wars and Dungeons and Dragons?
You can't make "canon" star wars movies. Role playing games are realms of imagination beyond their creators control. Screw WOTC.
The RPG Pundit hits the nail on the head, as usual. I agree...we need to give Kyle Brinks his fondest wish and leave D&D for good...not one more dime. D&D survived the "Satanic Panic"; I hope it can survive this.
Thank you. Spread the word, share the video!
Support the OSR folks! Hell, support older editions, those are still good!
Yes, but ideally don't give money to WotC
@@RPGPundit Damn straight.
@@RPGPundit Yup! I will not be buying their products anymore. After Fizban, I didn't buy any of their content, as they have truly lost us old fans. I was hesitant about 5E as well, but it is a great system for people that want a more streamlined game, even if 3.5 is more realistic and has a better experience (I play Pathfinder 1E, which is 99% 3.5 D&D, and the content is gritty and great, if you can ignore the occasional hot lesbian couple).
Meatball is telling it like it is.
She always does! Spread the Meatball, share the video!
Anyone who doesn't denounce WotC's toxic view of the hobby is, themselves, garbage. Whether you're fighting against radical-leftism, DEI, or hatred of D&D's straight white Christian male customer base, we need your voice - speak out!
Decrying the neutral is what they are doing, I'd rather welcome them in and once they see how nice we are then they'll start speaking.
New to internet are you?
It's amazing people still champion WotC by supporting "official" D&D.
D&D is DEAD. It has been dead. It's not coming back (under WotC anyway)
LOL Rightwing Christians tried to kill D&D back in the 80s. Gygax himself was a lbieral. GTFOH with your partisan bullshit.
If I was looking for jerks to explain to me about badthink and how I was having fun wrong, WotC has that covered. They don't need help.
If someone is screwing up daily, at least they are consistent.
Yeah but it's wiping me out
The more I look into older versions of D&D, the more I realize how much everything about them resonates with me, which is something I can never say about the overproduced, uncanny corporate simulacrum that is 5e.
I love the atmosphere, the master class GM resources, and above all, the relative simplicity and focus on emergent gameplay. Even the odd mixture of different dice mechanics and the not always user-friendly organization of the books has a charm that just speaks to me.
I'm currently experimenting with a solo game using a mixture of the Blueholme Journeymanne rules and White Box. This, to me, is Dungeons & Dragons. This is the game I've always wanted to play.
Check out the OSR!
@@RPGPundit Not for nothing, but I think you need some coffee, man. I'm already there. lol
I'm trying to introduce my group to it by offering to run at least a one-shot using the aforementioned Whiteholme mix I've been using. The trick is gonna be getting our 5e devotee DM on board to play.
Make no mistake, I've been eyeing your stuff as well. If I wanted to add in some new flavor, which would you suggest, the Old School Companion or Gonzo Fantasy Companion? I wanna add in some weird sci-fi here and there.
I'm going with TLG and Castles and Crusades from here on out.
Well, I hope you check out my books...
I think I'd redirect any money that would have been spent on WoTC products to something more productive, like a new Home Lobotomy Kit or something.

That's pretty much what it will end up being.
Great video, thanks for the shout out!
You're welcome.
It is sad to see how far Wotc has fallen.
Early Wotc (3x era) and later Wotc are effectively two different companies and I long for the day it would return to a company that would product books like the Book of Exalted Deeds, Book of Vile Darkness, and Elder Evils.
I've lost almost all interest in them as a company and at this point their failures I going to stick to my memories and save my money for Ebay and D&D 2e and 3x goodness if I want any D&D.
It's even worse than what you said, the Wotc of the first four years of 5e is virtually unrecognisable to post 2018 wotc in tone and quality of writing.
@whiskeyhound I can see that.
Come to think of it I can also see that as a major issue for ALL the Seattle based RPG companies.
Paizo, Kobold Press, and Green Ronin (along with a few others) seem to be going the way of Wotc as well.
@@jeframdenkarNot super surprising that all those companies would be going down the same dead end path, the US ttrpg industry is an unpalatable circle-jerk of moral grandstanding to the point where even liberals like Matt Colville find it unpalatable enough to vaguely reference in passing in one of his videos from a year or two ago when a lot of the woke nonsense starting getting too blatant for most of wotc's customers to ignore.

That's absolutely correct. And yet so many gamers don't get that, they see "dragonlance" and still buy it because it has that name on it, even though what they've created is meant to destroy everything they like about Dragonlance.
Destroy the history of a thing to destroy a thing.

I can proudly say I will not be pre ordering or even buying this product. I have only bought 2 books for 5th edition. The spelljammer box and the temple of elemental books. At 10:08 you said something along the lines of Mike Mearls and I created 5e. Were you on the original 5e team? What was your experience like.
I was Mearls' main consultant. We exchanged hundreds of emails about what 5e should be like and should do. As well as specific changes to the system, particularly the stuff in the PHB.
@@RPGPundit What's your take on Crawford? To me he seems the type that shouldn't be in leadership positions. Risk adversed and unimaginative, only good at translating someone else's idea into mechanics.
Wow, it's crazy to see arguably the most successful role-playing game company destroy itself. To go from making probably the most successful role-playing game to producing basically tchotchkes.Just like Hasbro is and Disney is and Hollywood is or basically the American entertainment industry. I don't care what these people think of my game or me as a person. This company, as it is, will never receive another penny from me.
I hate to pull a Godwin, but they're coming across as if they're making an annotated edition of _Mein Kampf_
I made the mistake of ordering Radiant Citadel before I knew what it was. I looked through the book and was promptly disgusted by its wokeness and diversity/inclusion crap. I do find myself wanting to try out the older D&D systems from time to time... But i like 5e as a system. Its not the best one out there, but for my group and I, the game is solid enough that I can run just about any game I want to.
I don't agree with everything Wotc has been doing, which is why i stopped buying direct stuff from Wizards... But I did grab other stuff from 3rd parties that are compatible with 5e to help supplement and expand what I could do.
I've been working with my playgroup to make our own homebrew world that takes stuff from just about every RPG i have and makes it a somewhat cohesive game.
It is nice to talk with your players and make sure the game isn't going to any place too dark for a member of the group to be comfortable with... But also, the point of a game is to delve into topics that might not be a comfortable thing to deal with.
There's a lot of good 3rd party 5e stuff

The whole time you were talking about them publishing everything as-is then tacking on a diversity disclaimer, I was thinking of Tonisborg, which also has a diversity disclaimer tacked on. Then you promotrd Tonisborg as an alternative. Don’t get me wrong, Tonisborg is a great product, just not a great counterexample to reproducing historical material with denouncements of the originL material.
It doesn't really, it has a commentary in the introduction, which isn't some kind of encompassing condemnation of anything, just a statement.

If a true gamer (whois rich rich rich ) buys it back from WOTC, i imagine he’ll end up in charge. Just a dream but i have my fingers crossed… and my toes. ;)
He'll prolly get hired by larian or something.,
He has a Patreon now... not sure if he's going to start publishing his own stuff tho.
My guess is he'll go back to trying to make a new d&d based game, with a Kickstarter probably, and then maybe try to get a job with video games
@@patrickellison2939 He is incompetent to begin with.
Hard pass. In fact I’ve been skipping anything from Wotc since 2019. That “Greek” sourcebook was a step too far for me. OSR ever since in terms of spending.
The reality is that D&D is a pretty cerebral game. Similar to chess it seems to attract a certain demographic. /shrug, it is what it is.
So Gygax is evil but we are happy to make money off his legacy. Hypocrisy, thy name is Wotc.
If you can’t control yourself fellow GenX gamer, at a minimum get it secondhand.

I just stick to OSR/NSR type games NSR like Mork Borg or Shadowdark (I call them that myself) OSR like Swords and Wizardry, ORICS and the countless other Old School type games. Also DCC is great has that OSR feel with its own stuff. Fun games, easy to learn doesnt lack depth and can run almost every single thing put out from Old School stuff with little to no changes.
Well, if you like DCC you should get World of the Last Sun, & the Gonzo Fantasy Companion
DCC creator Goodman Games bent the knee, scratch them off the list.
Yeah, the lines are very clear here. Don’t support the communists trying to destroy one of America’s greatest creations. They will be playing RPGs a thousand years from now, and giggling at the commies (woke cultists, really) who tried to destroy it.
@@RPGPundit Sweet il check it out and put it on my list for my birthday :-)
@@Richforce1 yup! Goodman is on the red list now. I dumped them as my home system for BECMI.
I'm not ordering ANYTHING from WOTC. Period. I've been sick of them since 07.

19:27 editing would require skill and effort on top of money so..
I think that if one buys this it's an automatic failed save vs. Simp.
Anyone who buys this book should be shunned.
Amen! 1st Edition Uber Alles!!! or Mork Borg as Accepted contemporary default! opinion of a terrible 53 yr old white dude... who has been into the hobby since they were a 10 yr old murder hobo
The Mork Borg creators are pretty woke too.
I'm still buying it.
But i will buy everything you put out on Amazon as well.
I cover as much stuff as i can afford and is in a physical format ( book , box set , dice , cards & etc. ) an i don't cover digital stuff.
My goal is to help spread awareness of many different systems.
Well, I wish you wouldn't give WotC any money, but I do appreciate your patronage.
@RPGPundit
I buy a variety so i can use it for research , use it in games, and talk about it on my channel.
It's fun running a woke adventure, and having everyone ( including the woke people in my groups ) point out the garbage in it.
You’re not part of the problem, you’re the entire problem. Stop consooming, NPC.
The video wasn't bad and was actually interesting when covering the history until you got to the 35:30ish mark when inclusivity was introduced. My take is they are going to include a prelude section in the book that mirrors that crap they post on the D&D products in Drive Thru. As an old school grognard I am considering picking it up if I can get it at a semi-decent price on Amazon but only if it doesn't include a section on the wrong think of the time, so likely won't get it in that case.
Get Tonisborg instead! Or Baptism of Fire!
do NOT give them your money
Nu uh... wallet closed 😎
I think D&D and OSR games are mostly boring. But even I would never s*** on Gary's and Dave's legacy. It's a pathetic attempt for brownie points. It's like being in a jet and dissing the wright brothers.

@@RPGPundit Will do
We play Folk DnD OSR Haus Rules!
I've only played BECMI and the rules cyclopedia since the 80s. I'm an old Grey head.
Well, hope you check out my games.
@@RPGPundit You can always tell a carnival barker when you see one. They always try to sell somebody something. 😶
The lost dungeons of Tonisborg may be great, but it's $150 for a hardbound copy.
I'm pretty sure a softcover version is available?
Well I was actually looking forward to this but I will get it on clearance later...
I honored the 50th by supporting Greg Gillespie's Dragonslayer RPG. 100% backed. Fuk WoTC.
Me too. That game is a real tribute to the game’s anniversary.
I am slow to churn out money for new versions of anything, but Dragonslayer looks it might come from the true tree. Think I will be buying it this week in honor of D&D.
Good choice. Hope you check out my new stuff too!
The Lost Dungeons of Tonnisborg is an amazing book indeed. We were honored to have been given a copy from Griffith and our friends at Secrets of Blackmoor. He ran The dungeon and we were asked to play. It was a blast. Here's a short vid about it. Long live OSR. Props to ua-cam.com/video/zLcxgpT4e_o/v-deo.htmlsi=aqN59u1R-FETTrLz Pundit.
Replacement won't work. Didn't work with the Big Two in comics. All it'll lead to is diminishing returns.
It already has here too
Really like your Dark Albion. Thanks for making a damn sourcebook worth reading! My favorite part is Frogland. :)@@RPGPundit
Thank you! Hope you check out Baptism of Fire when it comes out, it's going to be really good.
Tondro is former Paizo
If he hates the hobby why is he here?
I don't think they even consider old gamers, they are marketing to the woke kids they think will carry the hobby
Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic were actually just speaking about this topic but in regards to movies. These companies like WotC cater to what they think is the majority - what they see on social media feeds - and then lose millions of dollars because they catered to social media trends and not the actual purchasers of the product. But the crazy thing is - they keep doing it, over and over again...
@@WizardKelek Cuz their goal isn't to sell books or advance D&D or even to celebrate RPGs in general. They hate us and more importantly, they hate the game. They cant out-do it. They cant control it. They cant really make money off of it. They don't know what it is or how to sell it. No one at Hasbro understands even the tiniest aspect of these games, so its simply doomed. Its like owning the golden goose and not having a clue as to what you need to feed it to get the eggs. But mark ALL their names and remember them in the future when they have gone on to infest other game companies. I wont buy anything these jackasses ever touch in the future. So mote it be.
The future jobless adults that have a mental breakdown working in a coffee shop? What can go wrong?
I suspect it’ll be worse than a separate section denouncing the works of Gygax and Arneson. That would require some level of work to develop and compose a coherent theme for such a section, and I doubt they have the energy or intelligence to do so.
I’m thinking about how they’re stressing that this product is going through review by 3 different sensitivity readers. One for race, one for gender identity and one for sexual preference probably. Each of these will turn in their own reviews of the material, and these readers probably made notes to specific parts of the text that they highlighted. I can see WOTC integrating their reviews as footnotes on every page, and even actually highlighting with color those parts of the text the footnote relates to. They can use 3 separate highlight colors to correspond to the 3 sensitivity readers. Each page will wind up looking like the vomit from a child sick from eating too much Fruit Loop cereal.
100 percent guarantee that the sensitivity hacks were 30 years old or younger. I would bet they weren't more than passingly familiar with the concept of RPGs in general. Most probably they are not even players. Probably with no idea of what they were looking at. To them the game couldn't be more than a way to suck some bucks from another idiot corporation and swing their cult dogma around. D&D will out live them all, and flourish in the hands of those that love it best. I think we all just wish someone was in charge of this beautiful game whose intentions we could trust is to see it expand and grow more stunning. These current jackasses are just cultists desperately trying to figure out how to use it to further their own dogmas and attack their enemies.
Funny to think that when I, an "evil white dude", buy a book in the Philippines, they probably count it as a "non white" sale 😂
LOL
@@RPGPundit "Bought", I should say. I'm long done with WOTC, Xanathar's Guide being the last.
Where is that wotc video ?
On the official UA-cam D&D channel
So, this book is going show us how they would censor the original version of this game.
Like an rpg version of Mien K.
360 of the 576 pages are going to be footnotes and side panels about how wrong and awful what the original content you just read really is.
Possibly.
Appendix N is also a good D&D-related read. The one by Jeffro Johnson that is; the copycat someone made of it is garbage.
Secrets of Blackmoor is also a good one.
That aside, if WOTC is going to act like this, then no one should feel bad about 'borrowing' a copy of the 1st Edition AD&D books, all three of them, and never looking back.
As a black guy who loves adnd, becmi, osr. This is hilarious. Im done with wotc, old school for life 🙌🏾
Hope you check out my OSR products!
I haven't bought a wotc product in 6+ years. I'll likely buy this pure evil tome though. I'd love to run Gary's rough draft version for my family
5e is NOT D&D!
There's only one edition calling itself "D&D" that is not D&D.
Link to their video?
It's on their youtube channel.
@@RPGPundit I tried to watch. It was oh so terribly dry.
Besides, if all they can do is promote having a guidon PDF they will charge 100 bucks for. I already have it from a public archive.
Glad to send you a copy of it.
Amazon sells the Hardcover for $100. As much as I'd love to have this book. I cant spend $100 on a book. little to much for my pockets. ( I hate paperbacks)
Does WotC publish their hardcover sales figures?
They don't, but their former distributor did.
I love the way you harangue the activities they expect nu dnd players to participate in. Underwater basket weaving course held by tiefling gender studies experts.

ua-cam.com/video/PhxVlgehNpc/v-deo.html So sad. I have to pass on the only official thing that will come out.
Luckily in the video I give you some great alternatives.
I stopped playing when 3td Edition came out. [I run RoleMaster and play other RPGs. IMHO d20 is and has always been one of the WORST RPG systems ever made.]
A three minute section about diversity and inclusion at the end of a long video is not the same as "calling the creators evil"
Stop lying
Except that this is exactly what it is. They made it very clear that they would never have published the original D&D if it had been presented to them, and because it is the product of white men...
@RPGPundit No, you must have halucinated that. They explicitly said they wouldn't name a class "fighting-man" in 2024, and hinted that a decent quantity of other material wouldn't get past their inclusivity readers. They did not call gygax or arneson evil.
It's better to be honest. Maybe UA-cam doesn't reward fair and balanced reporting, and prefers breathless hysterics, but it's better for you as a person.
I don't disagree with you on the whole. 5e is terrible, the supplements are shallow and stupid, The OSR is the better way to play. But you have to stop lying man
"And this is a historical document so there are things... it was a different time. So we've had an inclusivity review of all these materials."
>> "Multiple, so let's, let's take a step back here. Let's clarify, there are materials in Original Dungeons & Dragons that would never pass"
> "Yeah"
>> "our inclusivity reviews today... Uh... And a lot of it is you can, some of it you can understand, like, okay, these are a bunch of wargamers, and they're using armies from history, and so when they create a warrior class for D&D they call it the Fighting Man, right?
Because that's what they were used to and they were all men, they were all white dudes from Lake Geneva and the Twin Cities but that's just the tip of the iceberg right? Like there's a lot of material in this book and I won't go over all of it, but it would not pass our inclusivity reviews..."
@RPGPundit "So at the end of the video they point out that gygax and arneson are essentially evil, and that D&D is evil", RPGPundit 2024
See, anyone can write out quotes.
What you said and what they said is VERY different. I get that shock value matters on this platform, but that's no excuse for shamelessly misrepresenting someone's position.
I LITERALLY quoted from the transcript.
